We were not impressed with this site, I know that the area was flooded earlier in the year, but behind the pub and barn it looks like a junkyard, the facilities were probably as good as they could be after the floods, although they could do with a good clean,my wife would not use the ladies showers because of the state they were in. We were on the hard standings and had electric, also we were near the facilities, but the people on the grass area had quite a walk to use them. The pub had a temporary menu of 'chips with everything', so I couldn't say what the food would be like normally.
The campsite is flat and uninteresting and fairly remote from the nearest town, with nothing for children to do except feed the ducks. Luckily we were only there for one night as a stopover on our way home from Cornwall and everywhere else was full up, there was plenty of spaces on this site and I know why after our short visit. The immediate area around the campsite is not very scenic and the countryside is very flat. If the people who own the site spent a bit of money on landscaping the pitches and planting some shrubs, I'm sure they would see a return for their money, by way of return visits. It looks at the moment as if they have lost interest

Well we had a very enjoyable stay here over the bank holiday weekend. The camping field had been badly flooded over the summer and even a week before we visited the field had been like a lake. When we arrived the ground was surprisingly dry and facilities had been reinstated (problems with showers etc due to flooding) and were in perfect working order. The site shop had been shut but they had opened a make-shift shop in the pub, which was useful. We visited Tewkesbury and Gloucester which were both lovely, we especially enjoyed the historic docks at Gloucester. All in all we thought the site was great, the pub set on the riverside was lovely and offered reasonably priced food and drinks - we will definitely return.

We have visited this site twice once in May 2006 in 2 inches of water, A very wet trip but the people were really nice and couldn't aplologise enough for the flooded field. So we decided to visit again in the sun of August of 2006 - what a difference the same people this time were rude and obnoxious, the showers were intermittent with working and After about 9.30 they closed them as there was no water in any of the showers or toilets! Apart from all this it is a good place for visiting the local area but we won't be going again.

What a lovely campsite and what a relief too after reading so many awful comments (after we had booked!). We visited over the Easter bank holiday weekend and had a fantastic first time camping. The site was lovely & flat with drinking water taps convieniently placed around the campsite. The shop was generally open between 9am and 7pm with a short closure for lunch and sold most things required - a little bit more expensive then a supermarket but not overly priced. Papers can also be pre-ordered for the following morning. There is a MASSIVE Sainsburys about 5-10 minutes away anyway for anything else you may require. Drainage on the site was good especially as it was completely flooded just 3 weeks before our visit (photos in the pub). There was fishing on site which could be booked (although we didn't) and a little duck pond that the kids loved, it became a daily ritual to go down with breakfast & lunch leftovers to feed them! The toilets & shower cubicals were clean, warm & adequate, toilet roll, soap, hair dryer (20p charge), baby bath & changing mat provided, hot water & pressure were available before 9amISH then started to wear off again till the evening. Washing up area clean with hot water. The owners were blunt & grumpy but treated with kid gloves seemed ok, quite happy to lend us bricks to set the tin BBQ on and we were able to extend our stay for £5 up until 4pm. Camp rules were not hard to follow and were basically to be courteous to the site & other users ie. speed restriction on site, no noise after 11pm, pick up dog mess, & dogs on lead etc. Red Lion pub - ok when you get served - not quick service at bar or food arriving & over priced especially for drinks. Sold out of white wine and out of ketchup so recommend you take your own Heinz! Overall lovely site with pretty flowers and night lights by toilets. Would recommend they get a play area for children as would be a well worth investment. Will visit again

Went for the new year what a great site found the staff very helpful always there to give a hand loved it. Showers were very hot and hairdryers working. Will go again this year. When we were leaving they all said their goodbyes. Booking now for next new year and for the summer.

Visited August bank holiday weekend, in over 20 years caravanning the worst site I have ever visited. The staff were sullen and unhelpful and on booking in handed us a list of rules - most of which were DO NOT etc. Shown to our pitch by the warden / Commandant in a chugging 4WD vehicle which over the course of the weekend made numerous patrols which bordered on the intrusive. Electrical hook up was situated 5' up a pole, this the warden stated the site was subject to flooding - glad it was sunny over our stay ! The toilet block bears NO resemblance to that shown on the sites website. 6 showers in the gents, 1 permanently out of order. At various times over the weekend at least 2 of the cubicles were out of tissue and the hand dryer did not work at all. On 2 days ALL showers were out of action due to a water pressure problem. Reading other reviews this seems to happen a lot. On the Monday no hot water at all. In the main camping field there were 3 portable toilets. These were unlit and not very pleasant. The pub was the complete opposite. Helpful and courteous staff, the food I felt was a little over priced, but having said that, was very tasty, quick to arrive and not lacking in portion size. The beer was excellent and cheap, and was very pleasant supping on the banks of the Severn. A big site with tremendous potential.but not with the current staff !

We used this site for 2 nights as a stop of for cornwall, was meant to come back for 1 night on the way back but we didnt bother. This was the worst site I've ever been on and the worst showers, they were dirty mouldy shower curtains with tiles fallen off the wall, and dont be fooled by the shop this was an old hut.
The owners were miserable people who were very arogant. Not like the happy campsite owners we are used to these two were terrible. If your after a happy camping holiday then think again about going here, as the owners will put you off and the very busy road that runs through the site and the river. If you have little kids then the site is right on the river with no fence. And nothing for the kids to do we had a mixture of ages from 5-13 and they were bored.

The site would be nice if it was not for the staff, we were greeted by a grunt, told off constantly for the pettiest of things, and surrounded by rules everywhere you looked! ! ! As we only stopped for two nights we generally ignored the grumpy site owners, but if you are planning on stopping more than that I suggest you pay nightly- you wont get your money back if you get "evicted", and I guarantee no matter how well behaved you are they will find something to grumble about!
