Arrived for early Easter break, 3rd visit here met with same strange league of gentleman welcome! But not here to make friends with owners I guess. That apart cant really fault site for price, large flat site, plenty showers, toilets and lovely riverside pub setting. Paid 13.50 for two adults and two children. Tesco/petrol and shops about 5 miles away, turn left out of site. In all a decent campsite for a weekend break, just don't expect a friendly face at the gate!

We stayed at this site for 4 nights, its a very narrow entrance if you have a large unit, quite happy to be shown to our pitch and that was the last contact with anyone from the shop, office, pub, whatever you want to call it.

Lovely peaceful area and river surroundings, did enjoy the pub for a few drinks but didn't eat there, but they were quite busy serving across the road on the picnic tables alongside the river. There was one toilet and waste disposal area which is a fair trek from the main field and there are a few fresh water outlets in the field which is good. One area for dishes and pans which isnt clean and when I went to the toilets a dog was being washed in a sink which I found disgusting.

The shower block needs an overhaul but was free and hot though. You cant expect this site to be top notch for the price but for peace and quiet at this time of year it was a nice stay overall. Plenty of towns or cities nearby so we didn't stay on site that much. Gloucester is only a few miles down the road to stock up and a nice place to visit, so we may go back one day.

Lovely location, pity no fish in river,

Toilet block dirty as was the washing up area not cleaned at all for the 3 days we were there

The owners very unhelpful and seemed like we were a hindrance

Plenty of pubs and walks nearby

Pub on site served food sometimes bit of a hit and miss again not the friendliest

Shop very basic and only opens an hour in morning and hour late evening

Very pictuesque location - lovely scenery. Grounds well maintained.

Toilet block all in good working order but not very clean. Washing up area was filthy and toilet/shower block floor not cleaned while we were there.

If you don't mind strict rules and regulations you'll love it. If you are laid back and looking for a chilled out relaxed time, do not go here! There are rules for everything you can think of and more, and the owners patrol the campsite very frequently and will tell you off if you break any!

I have visited this site now on a number of occasions.

The toilet facilities are basic, but clean with plenty of hot water and toilet roll.

The site is large and well maintained.

The Red Lion Inn is great, I wish it was my local, the Food is very good and reasonably priced, and the Landlord, Landlady and Staff are wonderful always making me feel at home and one of the family.

We found the people that run the site very helpful, even told us to have a safe journey home/ Previous comments made us a bit wary but found no problems, yes they did tell us site rules and I am always grateful to the owners that sort out campers that don't have respect for others so no complaints from us.

We ate at the pub and the meal was good value and very tasty.

Very handy for touring Gloucester, and only a short drive from the motor way. Spacious pitches, didn't use their bathroom facilities so I cannot comment.

We shall return to the lovely views of the river.

Beautiful location on the side of the river Severn, site is all flat and level, with lots of space.

We arrived at 19.30 sat evening and although reception was closed they allowed us to check in at the pub, Friendly people even though they were busy with the pub customers, facilities were fine, free showers and all clean. Only one block at the top end of the field, a bit of a walk if you choose to camp near the river. We were walking for charity and the owners kindly made a donation. We ate at the pub, good hearty pub grub, that we didn't wait ages for. Welcome after a 17 mile walk, good choice of beers, in all a fabulous stay.

Agree with most of sarahh56 comments, this could be a great site instead of an ok site. I'm sure it already takes a lot of work to maintain a site of this size, but the money it generates is not being put back in and shows a tiredness around.

The arrival time of not before 2pm makes a weekend visit short and a leaving time of 11am makes it even shorter, very odd and un-helpful timing. £11 per unit, +£1.50/child. If you want to leave later in the day it cost's another £5 to stay till 4pm.

Only had a drink in the pub, so can't comment on the food, except to say the menu looked very limited on the board and was amazed when a group playing pool were told to quieten down when they got to excited, (mainly the ladies) I think I'd call this a good but basic stay. PS, Fishing in the river is another £2/day.

Just got back from here after spending the bank holiday weekend. I admit we booked before reading the reviews on here and were rather apprehensive.

We arrived and we greeted the owners first and found after that they were friendly enough. We were shown to our pitch and even though we have 2 children we were not told a list of rules etc that others have mentioned.

The field is lovely and big with ehu's around the outside and non electric in the middle. We had a ehu pitch and there was plenty of room between units.

We only had a drink in the pub so cannot comment on the food although there were plenty of people eating.

The shower block was the bit that worried me, however it appears to have been recently painted and was clean. I feel that the floor needs repainting but that is me being picky!

We saw no evidence of anyone 'patrolling' round at night and this was one of the quietest sites we have stayed on, it was such a pleasant stay and close to home that we will return again.

Give it a try and don't be too blinkered by the previous reviews!

This looks a nice site on the website and on arrival looks like an ideal site, But as mentioned in many other reviews the owners just wont win any awards for friendliness. No welcome, just dos and don'ts barked at you and then you're pointed in the direction of the main camping area,

Facilities are usable but getting dated and grubby and nothing like the picture on the website (the males side anyway) one elsan point tucked away behind a lean to and septic tank near to the entrance which leaves a beautiful aroma as you walk to the toilets or pub (not).

The pub does serve meals which are a bit hit and miss, we had one decent meal and then a small tasteless one so not that good really as it wasn't cheap either.

They do have a small shop on site with basics but it's pretty expensive so even though it costs fuel to drive the nearest shop in tewkesbury is better.

The actual touring / camping area is actually quite good, nice flat pitches and big open spaces so you have plenty of room so that does help balance the poor customer service. Would go again but only for the pitches not for the food, shop or friendliness
