Lovely location, this could be a great campsite, but the toilet/shower block was very small and untidy/dirty, there was just 1 block to cover a very large site. It was a long walk from the top of the site to the facilities, especially in the dark and if it was wet.
Staff could have been more polite and welcoming.
The pub looked very inviting, right on the river, but the menu was poor and the food was awful.
We were told to book a table and eat early as it would get very busy, we were tucked in a corner in the restaurant all alone, the landlady eventually came in to put lights on and said she didn't know we were in there. It was still virtually empty when we left.
The menu we had was a poor substitute from the one on the website.

We were the first of our party of 12 to arrive and were greeted by a stunning location. The sun shining on the river views lifted our spirits following a dismal week weatherwise. The 'welcome' from our hosts left much to be desired. We had arranged to swap ehu with friends who were arriving on Saturday but this caused a major problem with the owners who said they had a queue of people waiting for this service and it wasn't fair that we should jump the top of the list - strange that we then proceeded to count at least 30 ehu's over the weekend which were not being used. The next of our party to arrive had rushed around on friday getting his fishing licence only to be told there were no fish in the lakes as they escaped in the floods 2 years ago(lucky fish!)Why are they still advertising well stocked private lakes on their web site?
The weekend went from bad to worse when we were asked to leave the Red Lion as we were too noisy!
The site itself is very good although rather wet underfoot - only to be expected following a very wet July. Plenty of ehu but puzzling why they refuse them to campers. Toilets basic and best to take your own toilet paper with you and a beaker with which to clean your teeth. Signs everywhere listing 'do nots'.

Arrived with family mid afternoon to a somewhat cold reception. There followed a full review of the site rules, fair enough, and followed with a warning that my boys (I have a boy and girl) would be 'shouted at' if they were to chase the site ducks. And sure enough, the children did get shouted at that same day for exploring an area designated static caravans.
Overall, the campsite was as described on the web site. However, the site facilities were at best tired and desperately in need of refurbishment. Shower block was fairly clean but paint was pealing, tiles were broken, cracked and dirty. Cobwebs adorned the ceiling area, complete with dead flies and some large spiders.
The pub was good but staffed by the none too friendly hosts.
The tent area was covered with good flat grass and our EHU was lit. But there was a noticeable lack of site lights once night fell which was a problem as there was some distance to the only shower/toilet block.
One last negative was the presence of the ducks, or rather what they left behind. Green and very sticky and guess what the kids stepped in.
On the whole not recommended.

We stayed in this campsite June 2009 and quite frankly the location and managers hospitality was outstanding.
We stayed as part of a charity walk along the Severn way so was in an ideal location for us as it lies on the bank of the Severn (which is lovely to have one of the pub 'basket' meal on one of the many and watch the sun go down).
The field itself that the pitches are on is vast, caravans with electric hook ups on the outside and tents in the middle. The toilets were clean and showers had constant hot water.
The manager was as he was more than welcoming when we stayed at this site, if I could give 11 out of 10 for customer service I would, will definitely visit again.

This was my first camping trip for about 20 years but I really enjoyed it.
It was a bit of a wet weekend so the site was quite quiet and we were able to pitch our tent wherever we liked and with friends which was great.
The shop is small but adequate.
The shower block is a little old, but fine and the showers were hot. There was a shower curtain within the cubicle and space to keep your clothes dry. Only queued once for a shower.
The pub was handy for the first night when we didn't want to cook, serving normal pub grub.
No playground or anything but no problem with children having a kick around with a football.

As experienced campers of over 20 years what a pity we didn’t read the reviews here before we booked. Access to this site is better from the Ledbury rd (B4213) and not the 2nd turning off the A38 through Norton - the campsite’s website gives both routes. Through Norton is narrow and winding with a steep hill (down as you approach site)but the other access is flatter and not so winding! The steep hill is not mentioned on the website.
The site is set in lovely surroundings. Paid in cash as requested but offered no receipt. You did feel like you were being watched all the time by the owners. The owners are not the friendliest individuals and seem to fail to appreciate that we the 'campers / caravanners' are their guests and are providing them with their livelihood.
If you are disabled you must mention this when booking. I usually do and for reasons unknown I didn’t this time and upon asking on arrival for a pitch near the toilet facilities was bluntly told I should have done and “it just so happens you are near them.” We were “fortunate enough” to be sited near the toilet block BUT there are no facilities on the main field (apart from water) leaving campers with at least a 10 minute trek to shower, dispose of waste etc. That would have been no good to us and my husband would have had to use the car to access the facilities. Beware of the cess pit - it is extremely whiffy, no escaping from the smell.
Also measure your awning. I bought ours as a porch awning and was asked what size it was. I explained I didn’t know, I’d bought it as a porch awning and didn’t know the measurements. I was thus charged for a full awning.
The other negative was the washing up area / toilet and shower block which would appear to lack any form of cleaning and care other than restocking the toilet roll! A bit of effort by the owners would turn this site into an excellent little gem.
The website says “For angling enthusiasts either young or old we offer fishing pegs with excellent coarse fishing along a one mile stretch of the River Severn. Day Tickets or part day are available from the site shop (River subject to close season). In addition, for our park residents only, we have our own stocked ponds. “
The our own stocked ponds have no fish in them and are filled with very dirty water almost oil-like in texture, the trees and surrounding greenery is in need of an extreme cut back and make-over. The access to the River Severn is extremely overgrown with a steep access through nettles and over grown bushes/trees to the water’s edge. We were fortunate to find good fishing places nearby.

We stayed here for a weekend in June 2009,not the most friendly of welcome.
The toilet block on the website is not the same one that we used ( and we could not see another) these looked as if they had just had a coat of paint and new shower curtains. Some of the locks and the toilet did not work, hand dryer did not work. Toilets were old and dated and a bit of a trek.
We asked for electric hook up when we booked and were told they were full. We counted 13 free posts ( each with 2 hook ups per post[26 free in all].
Pub staff were pleasant but seemed like they had had a long day, all the time, but the food was good and the reasonably priced.
You did feel like you were being watched all the time by the owners.
This site could be a gold mine if they put some investment in and altered their attitude.
The only attraction was the price.
ASDA and TESCO in Gloucester only 5 miles away.

Just come back from 2 nights at the Red Lion.
The location is stunning - on the banks of the Severn.
The pub looks nice from the road and there is a large area for tables next to the river.
Nice beer in the pub. The food was ok - nothing spectacular.
Camping staff were pleasant enough but a little odd. We were aiming to canoe on the river and they went to great lengths to explain they didn't recommend it. We paddled the next day with no problems. Easy put-in and a nice pleasant paddle.
The camping area is one massive field. It wasn't that busy and we found a good spot. The grass is flat and takes pegs easily. A perfect surface really.
Toilet block is ok. Quite a few showers but hot water was limited in the evenings.
Overall the site is a little rough and ready but quite nice in fine weather (which we had).
Plenty of space for the kids to run around while we could see them from the tent.
A few pools on the site with ducks etc which was nice.
There is a shop onsite selling the basics.
Plenty to see in the general area and loads of pubs etc for lunches.

Arrived on this site for Easter bank holiday, had read previous reviews, so expectations were not high, however was pleasantly surprised. Friendly welcome, nice flat pitches, plenty room for kids to play. Water taps close by, shop stocks the usual bits n pieces. Toilets/showers did the job, bit of a trek from pitches though. Didn't try pub. Quite isolated, there is a Morrisons within 20 min drive. A good site if weather nice for the weekend, no play area so bring kids outdoor toys

I have been organising rallies at this venue for the last 2 years and we go at least 3 times a year.
The site is a huge field with a single track running around the out side. Hook ups are plenty and the middle of the field or site is for for tents.
The facilities are dated but adequate and I have never had a problem yet with the hot water, neither have any of the members of my club.
If you are looking for a restful weekend then this is ideal or a great place if you have children as there is loads of room for them to play around in. There are fishing facilities for those who like that sport and some wildlife.Especially the Ducks who like to visit.
A small shop stocked with the basic which is good enough.
The pub itself is a small comfortable place that serves nice food at a decent price. The ale is good and is well kept.
The owners, Sam & Cherry are very very friendly as are the staff and always give us a rapturous welcome when we visit.
Prices are good for the pitch and there are some hard stand pitches which are near enough on the doorstep of the shower block and shop.
A good brisk walk to the shower block and shop from the main pitches but like someone said, we have legs so don't be lazy. The walk is something I enjoy as it wakes me up and I get some exercise.
Pretty surroundings and within striking distance o some nearby Towns and attractions.
