This is a fantastic site with a real ‘at one with nature’ feel about it. All the staff supporting the site are really enthusiastic and great fun. Much thanks to Liz for our Yurt Pizza experience and for cooking breakfast on the last day of our holiday. The children didn’t stop talking about it.
We’ve read many of the reviews and not wanting to repeat what has already been covered would only add that it’s a great site with lots of woodland activities for the kids. Don’t expect them to stay clean though but then that’s all part of the camping in the woods experience.
We camped high season and it is a busy site where the facilities are in constant use. A little more attention to cleaning of the toilet blocks and or the frequency of the clean would have given this site a 10 out of 10 for us.
One last comment be diligent about cleaning up before retiring to bed otherwise you may wake like snow white to find the squirrel’s cleaning up around you!

Loved this site. Have 21 month old twins and felt quite safe for them to be outside the tent. No mad cars and plenty of room on the pitches as you aren't allowed to camp within 6m of someone else. Was a bit neglected in that bins were really overflowing (some people not bothering to recycle, when all bins are provided and clearly marked).
Shop only open for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon and never saw reception open at all. But site is gorgeous and you can overlook all these things. Camping in the pine trees with lovely play area.
Plenty of showers and toilets as far as I could see and a big butler's sink to shower the babies was a godsend. It cost us £65 for five nights for trailer tent with awning - no charge for the dog. There is yurt takeaway tent which opened a couple of weeks after our visit but would have taken great trade I think.

We stayed at this site for 6 nights, it is a fantastic location in cleared areas of a forest. We pitched the tent under a big oak tree facing a small stream that runs through the site.
There is a path out the back of the campsite, where we walked though forest and along the coast to Old Harry Rock. We stopped at a pub which had a garden overlooking the cliff, but swiftly moved on as the beer glasses were dirty, the ice was 60% water, and the lemonade was flat.
We spent a day on Shell Beach, which is close to the site. This is a very clean, fine sand beach with crystal clean water. It cost £6 for the day to park in the National Trust carpark.
Our first observation following arrival on Sunday afternoon was the amount of rubbish in the recycling area. All of the bins were full. The campsite was full the previous night, so it was expected, but the bins remained full until the following Thursday. There were no other bins around the site.
The site was very relaxed. The only rules were that dogs must be kept on leads, and tents need to be pitched 6m away from other pitches. Neither of these rules were adhered to or enforced by site staff.
The shop was well stocked with foods & biscuits and operated an ice pack facility. On the downside the bread rolls that we purchased were sold a day after their best before date.
There were ample shower facilities, which give you a five minute shower for a 25p card that you purchase in advance. Needed to end one shower early in when using an outdoor cubical as the water fluctuated from scalding to freezing, think this was because the washing up sink was also being used.
The facilities were not particularly clean, and the dust on the cobwebs and grime on cubical walls gives some idea of the last time they were given a full clean. They did however, always have ample toilet roll. There were also plenty of sinks to wash up plates & cooking equipment. One other point is that the baby shower/changing room could do with a door to keep the breeze out.
We did see rats on site, and the novelty of throwing stones at them to keep them away from the tent soon wore off and became a chore. We stopped eating on site after one made it to within 0.5m of the tent before we managed to scare it off.
We like ‘wild’ style campsites, but for us, this one was too dirty.

A lovely campsite, we were there during the week with only a handful of campers which only enhanced the lovely peaceful surroundings. The site is very relaxed, no long rules list to adhere to and this obviously works.
Site staff were friendly and the shop, even though only open for a couple of hours a day was well stocked and reasonable. There were plenty of showers and toilets, all of which were clean and tidy during the week. An additional clean during the day at busy times may have been appropriate especially when on Friday it seemed the whole of the world were descending on the campsite.
I have to say even though much much busier on the weekend we still had plenty of space around us and were not shoe horned into our pitch. The shower cards were 30p (4 for a £1) giving 5 minutes of hot water, plenty. You were allowed to make a fire as long as it was off the ground.
My first time in Dorset for probably 30 years, (since a Geography school trip) and I was very impressed with the area, beautiful area of the country with an abundance of good walks and things to do. I would definitely return to the campsite and the area and recommend it to others.

Let's get the negatives out off the way first. For some people an adjacent rally / events field might be a put off as noise from it can carry over but it only has a minimum impact.
During my stay some of the shower tokens didn't work in some of the showers.
Now the positives. It's in a beautiful location surrounded by the woodland and heathland of the area with plenty a walks and cycle rides all around and Poole Harbour only about a mile and a half away. Studland Bay and Swanage are easily reachable too. Inland there's the Purbeck Hills, Corfe Castle and the Swanage Steam Railway close at hand.
The site itself is a mixture of wooded and semi wooded areas with no marked pitches, you just find your own pitch, complying their 6 metre distance rule. This offers plenty of options for visitors to find just the setting they like. Open fires as well as barbecues are permitted provided that they are kept off the ground. This can make for a good atmosphere in the evenings.
I found every one of the staff there friendly and helpful. They'll come around in the morning or evening to collect site fee's if the reception is closed (as it often seemed to be) on you arrival.
This system seemed prevalent on the days I was there and a sign at the entrance advises you to find a pitch and someone would be round later.
In general the 2 facilities blocks were sufficient for the size of the site and cleaned daily. Showers required 30p tokens from the shop and gave 5 minutes of hot water. The adequately stocked shop itself opens in the morning and afternoon for 1 to 2.5 hours at a time depending on how busy the site is.
The policy of the site is to be sensible about noise in the evening with the things quieting down nearer midnight than the 10pm favoured by many other sites.
There seemed to be a yurt style tent that runs as a seasonal pizza outlet. A 'Pizza Yurt' you might say although this was not open during my stay.
Just one more thing. Mobile reception is poor for some networks, not the campsite's fault, of course, and there is a payphone in a red telephone box in front of the shop. Reception seems much better by the events / rally field.
This part of Dorset is a real find for me and this site is a real find too.

Between Corfe Castle, Studland and Swanage this is an excellent site that is the antithesis of Camping and caravanning club sites. Very chilled out, just turn up, pitch and pay your dues when they come round with the bucket. Excellent for small groups to camp. Although they ask you to adhere to the 6m rule, they are not as ridged as some and positively encourage community spirit. Excellent shop that is not a rip off, loads of clean loos and lots for the kids to explore. On site yurt provides the grub when you don't want to cook.
Defiantly cool camping!

Stayed at this campsite for 1 night in April 2010. We found the website and were attracted by the setting: woodland and stream. When driving up to the site on a track with open fields either side (and a marquee), we considered turning round and heading to our regular campsite near Swanage. I'm glad we didn't.
The campsite is quite large with flat ground and sloping/flat ground available (the latter is more in the wooded area near the stream). It was relatively quiet and reception was closed (season starts 1st May). However, we found a place, set up, and as per the notice on the reception, a friendly chap came round to collect our fee (I think it was £9 total for 2 people plus tent). We also purchased 2 shower cards at 30p each.
We set up overlooking the stream and in easy walking distance to the shower and toilet block (there is also another separate shower block nearby); these were clean and adequate.
It's a great camping location when you want to get away from it all - however, it would appeal to families as there are swings/ropes and imagination to keep children entertained. Only down side is Corfe / Studland are approx 4 miles away so a drive is necessary unless you're prepared for a healthy walk and taxi / bus back. Would recommend

Spent a weekend at this site recently. Quiet surroundings as quite out of the way, yet only 4 miles from Swanage. There was a faint smell coming from behind the toilet area not constant just occasionally. The toilets and showers were ok, never had to queue, I imagine in the school holidays this would be different. Showers needed a shower card which were 30p.
Loved the woodland setting and some people were having fires in fire baskets which looked fun.
Lots of rope swings which kids loved.
Will be going back to this site next year. Friendly staff also helps.

We visited this campsite in July prior to most of schools breaking up and stayed for 12 days.
The campsite is ideally located. A couple of miles off the B road from Corfe Castle to Studland.
The campsite was basic but had all the necessary facilities. There were plenty of basins for washing up and plenty of showers. The showers and the toilets were cleaned once a day but given the rain and consequent mud they really needed to be cleaned twice a day. Also they needed to make sure that toilet paper, hand-towel and soap were filled up. They ran out on a number of occasions. If the shop was open and you informed the staff they would refill them. Hot water didn't seem to be a problem.
Also useful was a washing machine and dryer at a reasonable price. Given the size of the camp it might have been better to have had more than 1 of each.
As the campsite filled up the space between tents seemed to diminsh. They had signs up asking for the 6m rule to observed but seemed to do little to enforce it.
The shop had all the basics. It was a little pricey for some items (e.G. £1.60 for a load of bread). That said it had all the necessary items.
I was also somewhat annoyed by the drunken idiots who insisted on roaming the campsite and carrying on in a boorish fashion until the small hours. The entire family were disturbed. This seemed to be worst on Friday nights. Some patrolling by campsite staff would have eased the problem.
The campsite was friendly to children and families. Plenty of rope swings for the children to discover and a stream to paddle in (wellies are a must. There were plenty of families so the children always had someone to play with.
Fires are not allowed, but barbecues or fireplaces raised off the ground are allowed. Our kids enjoyed toasting marshmallows and having stories around the fire.
All things considered we would go back there again

Shouldn't really tell you about this place, I want to keep it as a secret hideaway so it doesn't get spoilt! But it deserves praise!
Finding the place is fine, especially with sat nav. Down a long single track road. The site is a heaven for a getaway, and you can pitch where you want, within reason. View it on Google Earth, for a good 'overview'.
Facilities are basic and getting on a bit, but functional. Kids love this place and soon make new friends and can run among the trees etc without fear.
There's a big field available for rallies and large groups that don't interfere with the other areas. Part time shop on site too.
Locally, Studland is beautiful, we went on the 1st day of the summer school hols, and the place was still very quiet. Swanage is a great little town too, I'll be going back!
I will highly recommend this place to you only, but don't tell anyone else, OK!
