We went with a large 40+ group of family & friends, the site had no problems with us. This site is VERY laid back, ideal if your a crowd but not sure I'd be happy here on my own.
The facilities are fairly basic, showers require a pre-paid card, toilets didn't fair too well but it was a wet/muddy summer! Lots of room to do dishes and a well stocked shop.
The real selling point of this site is it's location - Corfe is lovely and Swanage has a really good beach.
Don't misunderstand me it's not all bad, we've been two years running and we are all booked in for this year again. Ideal site for groups.

Just got back from spending four nights away camping at burnbake with my 4 year old son. We both enjoyed it immensely.
Had no complaints about the facilities in general although the shop is only open on two separate occasions during the day, which meant that any emergency supplies required, would need a car journey to the nearest shop.
Woodland was fantastic (except for the odd bit of litter), fellow campers were brilliant. A great place for kids to get the tarzan out of them.
I couldn't believe the amount of campers turning up on a friday evening after 6/7pm even though a site full sign had been put up at the entrance. A little more organisation may be needed in that area.
My son and I will return with a bigger tent next year along with extra supplies for a longer stay.
Well done Burnbake for making our stay memorable.

Hi - Turned up early afternoon on Friday, we just managed to squeeze in before 'site full' signs went up.
I was worried at first that there were so many people camping, but it was a laid back relaxed vibe, with a lot of young families & mini gangs of kids rushing around having a great time.
We found a lovely secluded spot in the woods & were hardly aware of our neighbours.
Facilities coped well. My husband found queues for the loos a couple of times, mainly caused by youngsters using cubicles rather than urinals, but they may not have been used to them, so understandable.
I'm an early riser and on one occasion had the entire loo/shower block to myself, never any problem getting hot water.
I loved the woods for walking the dogs & contrary to other reports found the staff to be attentive & swift to act when a large group got a bit noisy.
Will go again

We stayed here during the May half term for the week. It was our first camping trip with 3 children. We found this site to be very relaxed and laid back. It was busy and the showers did get a bit crowded but they were cleaned down every afternoon. The shop is very small but sold everything we needed. The site itself is set in lovely woodland and proper campfires are allowed. Our children really loved gathering wood and sitting round the fire. A good idea is to take a small log saw to cut larger pieces up - my son came back with something the size of a telegraph pole which kept us going nearly all week after I`d cut it up! Studland bay is just as good as I remembered it from my childhood and there is loads to do in the surrounding area if weather isn't so good.

Campsite easy to find from directions.
Site very busy and loads of kids, so something to bear in mind if you want to avoid mobs of families, but only to be expected on 1st May bank holiday weekend. However facilities totally unable to cope with number of campers - long queues for showers (and I visited at a variety of times during the day in an attempt to get showered). You have to pay for showers which is no big deal, however hot water was non-existent which is galling when you've forked out for a shower. Saw no evidence of facilities being cleaned during 3 day stay- the floors in the bathrooms were always filthy.
Several campers were playing loud music late into the night (as in gone 1am) with no sign of campsite staff.
Campsite staff were not particularly helpful.
Upside: lovely, lovely location, and it was easy enough to find a secluded spot tucked away from the main site. Also we had a campfire in a bucket - many other people also had fires going and the campsite staff seemed fine about it.
The campsite shop is very good, with pastries and bread rolls in the morning.
I didn't think it was great value for money, given the por facilities. Might be worth it off season.

We stayed here for the first bank holiday in May 2009 with a group of friends (mostly with children). Initially finding the site was difficult as from the main road near Corfe Castle there were very few sign posts to the village of Rempstone where the site it. Upon arrival we just pitched up but noticed on the way in there was provisions for a reception hut which I should imagine in high season would be operating. You can choose to pitch either in the open plan fields or under the trees as there are no marked pitches. The staff were also very pleasant and helpful.
Like most you are not allowed to pop disposable BBQ's directly on the ground, they need stands/bricks. People around us did use fire baskets in the evening too.
Regarding mobile phones, if you are with O2 or Orange you will struggle to get signal. BUT! if you stand on a stone that is by the reception hut upon arrival (the stone is about 12 cm tall) you get a signal! There is also a phone box by the camp shop.
There are plenty of sinks for washing up too and the water was very hot.
There are plenty of water taps but no electric hook ups on site.
Fees over the weekend were collected by staff going round a collecting them and placing different coloured ribbons to your accommodation as to your departure date.
For kids there are tyre swings in the trees and a play area with a frame etc. It was quite a noisy site in the evening but from just people having fun.
The camp shop was open for 2 hours in the morning 8.30 - 10.30 then 5.30 - 7.30. It was small but really comprehensive. It had tinned food, cold fridges/fresh produce and a good range of camping equipment. They also offered fresh rolls/bread/croissants and danishes ech day.
The shower blocks were basic but are individual booths with a small changing section in and plenty of hooks. You have to buy a shower card which are 30p each or you can buy 4 for £1 and each last 5 mins with a timer in each cubical. I would recommending taking 2 in with you as they can be a bit 'hit n miss'.
There are plenty of loos and always had enough loo roll. The only thing lacking from the ladies was electric points as there was nowhere to dry your hair if you needed a hairdryer.
The site itself is about 1.5 miles from Corfe Castle and about 4 miles from Swanage so unless you enjoy walking/cycling you would need your car to get around. It is about 1.5 miles from the main bus route but taxis do come to the site. There are no pubs close by either.
This site is ideal for people who want a great traditional campsite. We are going back again and would definitely recommend it.

We first discovered this site in 2006 and have been so many times since! It is fantastic!
The setting is lovely, you can camp in the trees, by the river or up at the top where it is slightly more open.
The play area is great for the children although, to be honest, they are so happy climbing trees, playing in mud, on their bikes etc there is plenty to keep them entertained.
The relaxed feeling of Burnbake is what it's all about - you can't beat watching the children (and grown-ups) finishing the day with toasted marshmallows around the campfire.
There are some lovely walks in the area with plenty of woods and heathland or the local beach.
The shop generally has what you need (not licensed tho') and the washing facilities are basic but more than adequate. You do have to pay for the showers at 30p a card or 4 for £1. These can be bought in the shop or from the owner when he collects the rent. It's sometimes an idea to take 2 with you just incase one doesn't work for some reason. It saves you a trip back to the tent.
We have also used the events field and recommend this as well. It gives you lots of space if you are in a large group so you can play ball games etc.
If you want to have a campfire they are happy with this so long as it is contained and off the floor. They often have old BBQ's on site and the owner is very helpful in sorting something out for you.
If you have children, I recommend wellies and definitely a dark coloured flannel as they generally come back from the stream unrecognisable. Kids can be kids here and really discover the outdoors.
I highly recommend Burnbake, kids love it, adults love it and, if your anything like us, you'll keep going back for more.

My Father has been taking us to Burnbake for five years and the first time we went my sister said what a dump and I agreed.
But after a couple of hours I found the place peaceful, quiet and the staff very helpful.
The facilities were cleaned morning and night and the shop was brilliant.
There is nothing to spend or waste money on.
The shop sales things which are most needed such as fresh bread and gas bottles also freshly baked pastry products.
I would recommend early morning showers or late night as hot water is limited during the day.
The staff keep noise problems to a minimum and the camp is quiet by 11.
We are looking forwards to the next five years of holidays at burnbake.
Also my family and I have learned that we don't have to be on the phone or computer etc to have fun and communicate with each other and others.

This campsite is great if you want to camp in beautiful country setting, close to ferries for Brownsea Island and Poole and exploring Lulworth Cove, Durdle Dor / Door, Corfe Castle and seaside town of Swanage.
The main camp is amongst trees with grass area. There is a separate events field which accommodates group bookings (£350 min fee per week in high summer). Small adventure playground near main toilet/shower block. Showers were average but operated by annoying pre-paid cards available from shop at 30p per 5 minute shower. The cards are very temperamental and would be rejected by the shower unit several times before finally working. Wellies essential as it can be muddy along paths. Fields in great condition and tents pegs went into the well-drained ground easily. A Yurt (tent selling cooked food) was on the site and made great organic pizzas which were very reasonably priced at £6-£7 including a salad.
Owner very pleasant. Some large scout/boys brigade type organisations use the field adjacent to the events field so be prepared for a bugle alarm call in the mornings! . Quite pleasant, really.
