Unfortunately I'm disappointed with this site (currently staying here whilst writing). From the reviews I had hoped that this would be a caravan site with lots of facilities that was still very family orientated. Whilst I can't fault any of the facilities on offer (although expect to queue for the indoor pool on a rainy day) its unfortunate that the park isn't acting to control noise at night. We've been unfortunate to be situated next to a rowdy family with constant visitors. We paid for the top pitch hoping for more privacy and got a 1 foot hedge either side and the said neighbours with a gazebo (as well as an awning) that is situated about a foot from our window! Every night so far (1 week) there has been a gathering in the gazebo. Not ideal with young children. It's a shame that site staff aren't checking for noise levels after say 10pm. Lying in bed at 12. 30am listening to neighbours partying is not good! This isn't really what we look for in a caravan site and I guess I made a mistake hoping that this site wouldn't be as 'holiday park' as others.

My only other criticism of facilities is the 'innovative awning surface'. This is basically gravel and it travels into the caravan and the awning every day and gets on my nerves!

The location of the site is good but I think we'll have to forgo the facilities next time to avoid the neighbours from hell.

Just got back from this wonderful site, excellent pitch. The park was very busy and we had no problems pitching in the sunshine. The first glimpse of the site was how clean and tidy it is. The toilets are cleaned to a high standard never were they dirty. Spotless showers as well.

The food was quite expensive but was top class, big portions so wasn't grumbling. The facilities are brilliant. The pools are great, 2 lifeguards on all the time

Night entertainment was ok but struggled to get a seat, beers and drinks were not cheap but you are on holiday so you go with the flow. Also the chippy and pizza place are good quality. So all in all excellent site and will give it 5 stars for the staff and cleanliness of the site. 4. 5 overall holiday. Keep up the good work hendra and will be back soon

We've recently returned from our fourth stay at Hendra and as usual it didn't disappoint.

I'm a working single mum with two children, 10 & 16. So I need a site where I feel secure and has plenty to keep the children occupied; Hendra has this.

The staff are always extremely helpful. Last year we pitched our tent on the wrong pitch, was my fault but I was shattered after the five hour drive so they told me not to worry and sent a couple of guys who took it down and erected it on the correct pitch for me.

Toilet/shower blocks are always being cleaned, I've never seen them anything other than spotless and we always go high season.

As I have a small car the hire shop is a god send, for around a tenner each we hire cooker stand, wardrobe and electric cool box; makes a huge difference.

The pool is amazing. Well worth the extra change.

We don't use the clubhouse so I can't comment on that. We use the evening for the quality time that we sadly don't always get in our day to day life; playing consequences, who am I and charades. We often end up in stitches. My 16 year old son with an active social life at home still looks forward to those times.

Beaches. Is gotta be Newquay for the waves. My two have been body boarding for years so the waves have to be huge!

Lusty Glaze is our favourite beach, it's got everything waves, caves, rock pools, cafe, shop and even a zip wire. The good thing is that it is a small cove so it is easy for the children to find you if they go off into the sea. My two go off to catch waves and only come back when they are hungry. Meanwhile, because I have set up camp near the cafe, I can relax and access the free Wi Fi :-)

The other great beach is Holywell bay especially if you have young children. The waves are still good but there are 'streams' of water about a foot deep that you can set up next to so great for toddlers. The huge sand dunes are fab, you can hire on the beach big round plastic tray like things with handles for £4 for the day to go sliding down the sand dunes on. Looks great fun one day I'll hire one for myself!

Pauline's tea room in Newquay main street does a mean cream tea.

The Minack Theatre is truly amazing, book tickets online before you go as they sell out in high season.

Think that's everything. Enjoy your holiday

We just got back from Hendra Newquay, we were planning on 10 nights but left a day early due to the wet horrible weather. But it was our first visit to Hendra & Newquay, I thought the roads close to Hendra were tight & really narrow in some places, a HGV truck had to stop as he inched passed us.

We arrived on site & our pitch was good, a grand premium pitch, with a tv ariel point also, it was an excellent picture. Set the satellite dish up also for the golf on sky.

People at Hendra were very friendly & polite, in particular the Bar staff and one Lady from Admin - she went above and beyond her duties in assisting us with some help printing and scanning for something my employer required unexpected and urgently.

My daughter used the pool daily and loved it, only one thing that we felt let it down was the changing area was too small and were slightly unclean. The slides and river rapid was a favourite.

We ate at Marios pizza, fish & chip shop and also the restaurant and found these reasonable in price and food was tasty and prompt.

We would definitely visit Hendra again.

Arrived in torrential rain to the arrival field which was like a mud bath. But didn't put us off!

Found our pitches ( 4 families) which were situated in Oak field right by the toilet block which was very handy with the rain. The toilet block was kept amazingly clean. Even with all the mud and rain the lady and man who cleaned them did a amazing job, full credit to them they did a fab job.

Put the tents and awrning up in torrential rain but we kept our spirits up! Hendra provided us with continuous supply of salt to help soak up the mud and boards to put outside our tents.

The kids loved the skateboard/ scooter park, a great hit. We used the soft play and the swimming pool which again we found very clean, staff continous cleaning our mud up! Had lunch in the cafe which was reasonable priced with excellent fast service. The only drinks we bought from the bar we found were expensive 1 pint of cider and 3 slushes came to £9! We didn't visit the club as preferred to stay around the caravan.

We ordered a tesco delivery which delievred straight to our accommodation. Which must say I would recommend every time now. The hire shop was fantastic we hired a fridge for our awrning at a reasonable price and a few other things.

Overall we had a fab 4 days at Hendra despite of the the British Weather which was wet wet. Would recommend Hendra to anybody.

Well what can I say when we arrived at hendra the site looked amazing, we booked in then found our pitch (which took ages), this site is quite big. There are staff members everywhere you look(busy busy busy). Then we found our pitch it was very wet and muddy as it had been raining plus I think somebody hadn't been gone from it for long. 1 telephone call to the office and I had a dry pitch.

Newquay is a great place for all ages with lots to offer local food drink, the site also has great food and drink shop, pool, you name it its there.

Will defo visit again

Fantastic. Huge park with lots of choice for pitching up. We chose to go non electric.

Toilet facilities and showers excellent. Cleaned several times a day. Washing up facilities great. Electric points in the toilets ideal for charging phones etc and using hairdryers.

Site caters for all. Great for those with families. Brilliant swimming facilities.

On site facilities enough so no need to leave the site unless you wanted to go the beach or browse around Newquay. Will be going again.

Arrived in Hendra on 23/7/12, the sun was definitely shining and it was very hot. First impressions of Hendra were very positive, very clean, well maintained holiday park, something we hadn't used before.

Our pitch was number 336 in OAK on a slope not so good for a trailer but we managed, the pitch itself was very large and plenty of room for both trailer tent and car.

Lots of things on site for the kids, the outdoor swimming pool and Oasis were especially popular. Laundry and ironing facilities available for a very reasonable price and the added bonus you don't need detergent as this is automatically added for not additional monies.

There is a Costcutter on site, slightly more expensive but to be expected a little gripe here though you have to spend £10 to use your debit card so remember to take cash as the cash dispenser charges over £1. 50 on site, there is a large Morrison's approximately 15 minutes walk away as well.

The only other negative that we encountered were the showers, for a 5 star site I would've expected a little better to be honest, there were 6 shower cubicles in the ladies near to OAK but if you would be lucky if all were in use to get a decent water spray or trickle, the humidity as well was very overpowering when hot and all showers in use, you needed another one when finished, so some thought and perhaps air conditioning might not go amiss.

Hendra in the main is a lovely place and I would certainly go back. It is central to Newquay, Fistral and also Crantock beaches but you do need a car to access these as they are not within walking distance, there is however a bus service right outside Hendra that goes into Newquay and runs very regularly. Truro, Falmouth, St Ives are all within a 30 mile radius and are a must see especially St Ives.

We have just returned from this site after two weeks two adults and two teenage girls.

This is our second review on this site as we returned to Hendra this year after we had such a lovely holiday last year. Unfortunately we felt a few things have gone 'down hill' since our last visit and after speaking to other campers and caravenners it seems we all felt the same - having said this it is not all bad so here goes

On arriving the managing of the holding field through to getting to your pitch is done well - we were in Elm field and the pitch itself was massive, but very boggy as were all the other along that fence -

we had a constant humming of the fan coming from the Oasis pool along with staff working until 1am emptying glass bottles

we could also hear the acts that were on in the club -

even though the staff had places to park they all seemed to park alongside our caravan every day taking great pleasure in looking into our awning whenever they saw fit.

The toilets are spotless and cleaners very friendly they seem to be cleaning all day long - the showers are free but they do get very busy and it is to be expected to have to wait during the school holidays.

We did use both the indoor and outdoor pools which we feel are not as clean as last year and the prices are very expensive considering this is an expensive site to stay.

We did go to the club on two occasions and the acts we saw were exactly the same as last year and during the two weeks we were there they did not change - the drinks are also very expensive (2 soft drinks and 2 bottles came to £16. 00) and if Hendra could stop trying to make excessive amounts of money from it's returning customers then maybe we would remain loyal instead of returning home and giving bad reviews!

The site itself is in a great location with Morrisons and Lidl being a 5 min drive away - Fistral, Crantock and Perranporth are all near and great for body boarding and surfing

We spent a week at Hendra and were very pleased with our choice of site. We were on a grand premium pitch with plenty of space and were screened by hedges on both sides from our neighbours. The site was attractive and well tended. It was clear that a lot of effort had gone into it's upkeep.

There was plenty for the children to do including amusement arcade, skate park and swimming pool ( indoor and outdoor). Unfortunately you had to pay for the indoor pool which was disappointing considering the hefty £330.00 we paid for the holiday.

Newquay could be accessed on foot but it was a very long walk so be prepared to use your car if you don't like walking too far!

The amenities blocks were very clean and there weren't any queues. They were regularly cleaned and of a very high standard although the cubicles were only small.

We didn't use the bar as it was too full nor did we use the on site pizzeria but it looked nice with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. All of the camp was very clean and well maintained!

All in all a great site, not cheap but you can expect a high standard of cleanliness and excellent facilities. A great base for a family holiday where the children can play safely.
