This was our first campsite we have stayed in as new campers!
The site was perfect, great location, fabulous amenities, washing rooms, showers, toilets all immaculate, they were still being cleaned at 11pm.
Indoor and outdoor pools were fab, although indoor you had to pay for.
Entertainment was good although only went twice as was out everyday.
Highly recommend, we will definitely be back.

I didn’t really know what to expect from Hendra – I’ve heard great things about it but the term ‘holiday park’ always makes me a little nervous. Well it got off to a great start – we had treated ourselves to a Grand Premium pitch as we were holiday in the second week of Whit which is a cheaper holiday week for us. We were shown to an absolutely enormous pitch, tucked away in the corner of the Paddock area, the site was less than half full and it was a lovely peaceful part of the site yet just 2 minutes walk from the main facilities area.
We had been told that the nearest facilities block would be closed for the first few days of our stay but a family in a tent in the same area had persuaded them to open it – this being impressive in itself. The block was one of the best shower blocks I’ve ever used with local radio piped in – so good that although I normally use the caravan shower, I ditched it in favour of the shower block.
On site there is a restaurant, which we nearly ate in but gave a miss to be honest as it felt a bit of a cross between a pub chain/café and not at appealing but it might have felt better if seated in the outside area. Pizza and fish and chip takeaways were all ok – chips not the best really. Entertainments were good, the kids loved all the fun games and dances with the excellent animation team. Just the right mix for it not to be too OTT for us. Theres a fab adventure playground and a new addition of a skate park which looked great but too old for my children. My kids also enjoyed the Hendra train which travels around the site each morning at 10 with one of the animation furry characters on board. There is also a well run kids club available free of charge.
We pre booked a sea safari with Paddlefish which you need to sort out prior to your arrival and wow this was the highlight of our holiday. We had a two hour trip with the fantastic and hugely knowledgeable Bob & Kelly. Although not fishing we caught a mackerel, Kelly imparted so much fascinating information about the coastline of Cornwall both past and present that we will definitely be paying them a visit next year. The children even drove the boat and fed fish to the seals who are all named and follow the boat in and out of the harbour.
We also pre bought tickets for the Oasis pool, this was great, its smaller than I expected considering it serves the local community and the campsite but its very modern, the slides are fun and my children particularly enjoyed racing between the tap shower and bubbles coming up from the floor in the middle of the pool.
We have holidayed several times at sites in Cornwall but this is by far and away the best so far and we are booked in already to return next year!

We booked up well in advance as we had been told the site can get busy quite quickly. Our pitches were on the Oak field (good choice). The pitches are large and well maintained. We even arrived early and as no one was on our pitches we managed to get straight on. All set up by 12pm. The location of the pitches in oak is perfect for the shower block, pool and other amenities, the skate park is a great addition and the boys spent most of their time there.
We did stay during the horrible wind and weather at the beginning of June and I must say our tents performed brilliantly, others didn't but again the oak field is lined with trees so these helped to subdue the wind speeds. The pitches drained well with all the water we had. Hendra even had sweepers going around the site cleaning up the fallen leaves and branches.
The shop is well stocked, we didn't use the club or bar facilities as we were with friends and entertained ourselves under a gazebo. There is a quiet curfew at 10pm which people adhere to even if outside their tents until later.
Our only gripes were having to pay to use the pool at £3.50 per person per time it gets expensive, especially if the weather is bad. I understand they have to charge but a charge of half that would be acceptable, it is also open to non residents so get there very early as by 10:30am you could have to wait a while, the outdoor pool is free.
We were going to use the chip shop on site untill we saw the prices, there is a great chippy on chester rd (about 2 mile from site) which is half the price. The showers in the block don't get that hot and are push button, they stay on for about 20 seconds at a time, which is annoying. All in all a great holiday park for families. Very well run and we would definitely stay again.

This was our first visit to Hendra over the extended Jubilee half term break.
We booked a premium pitch with water, drainage and electricity connected. We were not disappointed, this had to be the best pitch we have ever stayed on in over 8 years of touring. Really liked the level block paving, it made pitching so easy. The pitch was a very good size to and bordered on 3 sides with laurel hedging.
The site has so much to do for Children. The indoor Oasis pool was fantastic fun and a great facility on poor weather days. My kids loved the skate park, every campsite should have one!. We used the restaurant which was good and were thankful for the costcutter supermarket.
On our first day our car broke down. What we thought was a flat battery turned into things more serious and 6 days later we sadly left our car in the garage in Falmouth and our caravan at Hendra. We made our way home by train and returned a week later to pick up car and van.
It was difficult not having mobility but as ex Motorhome owners we soon adjusted. We are forever grateful to the staff and management at Hendra who appreciated our situation and offered to look after the caravan without charge. This was very kind and helped to make a difficult time a little better.
So we cannot speak highly enough of this site, and we very much look forward to returning again soon.

We had 5 nights at Hendra;
Good points - Pool was great for the kids and the entertainment was very lively for all ages.
Bus to Newquay £6 family return, outside the site.
Well stocked shop.
Friendly and helpful receptionist
Plugs in shower block and music.
Great discounts on Reef Surf School 50 % off.
There is a skate park - WOW !
Improvements
Allocation of pitches, we could not fit our van on the pitch despite phoning ahead by 10 weeks of the size. We were moved but to a pitch 10 mins from a shower block. This is not how you want to start the holiday.
Pitches all seem to slope, some two ways and are crammed in in Oak.
Music is loud, to 1 am some days.
Pool is open to non residents so we queued for an hour on a rainy day.
Tips
Buy the swim passes
Take the Bus
The Boathouse in Newquay is great location for diner on the harbour.

We went to Hendra for a long weekend with 2 kids; one surly 14 year old and a 10 year old. Although I wouldn't have chosen this site for myself it was great for a family holiday. It wasn't too busy that weekend but I'm not sure what it's like in high season.
The kids had such a good time in the skatepark and pool that I enjoyed myself thoroughly too.
The caravan was the most basic they do but it was fine. Not amazing but clean and comfortable. We had a small problem with the water but when reported we had someone come just a couple of hours later and he sorted it out quickly (and was very friendly and polite). The toilets were very clean.
The night 'entertainment' is not my cup of tea so can't really comment on that. Everyone seemed to be having a nice time. The kids didn't go to any of the activities for them either and they are a bit past sitting on a train with a blue hippo.
I would have liked more information about the site and the area and the reception team were not very knowledgeable although this could have been because of the time of year (I think lots of staff had just started).
Lots to do locally although the site is a bit away from town. There is a Morrisons and a Lidl just down the road too which is much better value than the Costcutter on Another negative is the cost of the indoor pool although it's great fun.
All in all: Good fun if you're looking for a lively campsite for a family holiday and to be avoided if you're looking for tranquillity.

Great site for families. We were there in low season and loved the quietness of the site. We hadn't planned on staying here but the original site we were at had closed all of it's advertised facilities.
We are just a couple but we wanted a site with facilities so if we wanted a drink or a meal out without driving we could do that. The bonus for us is that we landed in the middle of the Cornish Bluegrass festival which was fab. Not to everyone's taste but it was to ours and livened the site up no end (but not in a lairy way). Reception did forewarn us about the festival and offered us a pitch on their sister site if we wanted
The toilet block on the lower field smelled of blocked drains all of the time but it was clean (thank goodness for the shower in our caravan).
I would recommend this site to young families and particularly to families with teenagers who get bored easily - there is much to do.
Well located site for Newquay. Morrisons 5 minutes away.
We wouldn't want to stay here in peak season, it would feel like you were on someone else's pitch as with every pitch taken you'd be crammed in.
We have to give a special mention to the farm shop next door to the site: amazing local produce and our family were very pleased with their gifts from this shop.

This is a site for families with kids who need constant entertaining.
It has all the facilities to do that for you - swimming pools, arcade, evening entertainment and the like. If that's your type of holiday then Hendra is for you. However if, like us, you prefer the more traditional caravan park then its probably best to give it miss.
We were there at the end of the season but even so there were a lot people staying in the statics.
More Butlins than Caravan Club and not really our cup of tea.

Fantastic site for motorhomes, think it was £22 per night with excellent showers (even if your clothes do get a soaking on the peg) with music pipped through, lots of sockets for hairdryers.
We stayed for 2 nights and ventured into newquay itself. I have to say we only used the on site bar etc on the last night and have to say the staff were not very attentive and it really seamed like working was an effort for them.
There are amusements everywhere to get kids (and adults) to part with their money. The food was not great, when I asked where the toilets were in the food area a huffy member of staff pointed but carried on talking to her colleague!
Ignoring the money sucking clubhouse the site is great with a bus service just outside the main entrance that takes you into town for about £3 return.
Big spacious pitches.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this site myself, my husband and our two daughters aged 14 and 11.
What can I say - this site is fantastic for a family with teenagers who get bored easily and then mam's and dad's don't get any peace!
On arrival you cannot access your pitch until 12 whatever time you arrive and they have a holding field until this time - you are able to book in and you are given a map of the site and your pitch number which gives you a chance to walk around the site and check out your pitch etc - at 12 your are all let onto the site and they do this with great ease and well managed.
The pitches are very spacious and give plenty of privacy, the toilets and showers were kept immaculate and the staff who cleaned them worked hard all through the day into early evening - but be warned the showers are quite powerful and they are set quite high so do not put your clothes on the hooks provided as they with get soaked - put them over the door until you have finished!
The pools both indoor and outdoor are amazing and a massive hit with our daughters and with us - even if you don't want to go in there are loungers around both pools for you to take a book and chill out.
We did use the club on a few occasions and the entertainment was a bit hit and miss and sometimes after 9pm a bit close to the mark for our liking as this is a family site we did not expect that - it also gets very busy and unless you get there early (7pm) then you will have to wait for a seat - but we did go in the summer hols so I suppose that's to be expected.
The security on this site I think needs a bit of work though as it does seem to me that when you go into the club at night they do not look at your passes and anyone could get into the club!
There is small park on this site for the younger children, plenty of arcades which my children informed us was 'awesome' but the staff in there were not as friendly as everywhere else on the site.
There is an on site shop which sells everything and yet again the staff are very friendly - it was a bit pricey but perfect if you need that extra bottle of 'scrumpy jack'!
The site has everything and if you didn't want to you wouldn't have to leave it for your whole holiday.
There is a pub just down the road which we did eat in on our first evening and my daughter was sick the following evening and through that day so I would not recommend that!
Morrisons is also only a short drive away in the same direction but there is also a Tesco and Asda in Newquay.
I would recommend Crantock beach just idyllic and also Lusty Glaze and Perranporth for your body boarding - also go down to Newquay harbour and see the seals that come in with the fishermen after the fish lovely.
All in all this site was fantastic and we are planning on returning next August as we don't think we would be able to find a site that could beat this.
