We have just returned from a 5 night break in our tent having stayed in one of their static caravans a few years ago.
It is a very big site and was very busy but that is to be expected at this time of the year. Stayed on Orchard field which was a fair walk to shops etc but then very quiet at night.
Toilets and showers where very clean and seemed to be constantly attended.
We used the pool complex which was great. The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced but local supermarkets are worth a visit.
Did use pizzeria which was OK but didn't bother with the club or tavern as we prefer to go off site to eat.
Overall a great campsite for those with children.

We went here for 10 nights in the last week in July and first week in August. We arrived a little early and had to wait a short time while we booked in and were allowed to pitch before 12 just after the grass had been cut.
We were in Maple 218-220 (3 families in our group) and were impressed with the pitch sizes - plenty of room even for a large tent. Be advised that a few pegs were bent when hitting rock so take good pegs.
The showers and toilet facilities were clean and cleaned on a regular basis however a bank of the taps in the mens wash basins released straight away so you had to press them constantly to fill the basin. The pot wash is covered over (as is the Elsan disposal) but the taps don't seem to have good pressure for pot washing.
The outdoor pool was a little cold but it's outdoors and the surrounding area was a real sun trap when it came out. There is a shallow pool for non-swimmers and lifeguards are in attendance.
The indoor pool is heated and there are 3 slides in it and a shallow pool for non-swimmers also there is a rapid style pool for swimmers only. Lifeguards are in here too. This is a paying pool so in busy times you are restricted to your allotted time however in less busy periods they let you stay in apparently. I went on two of the slides (green and blue) and thought they were good.
There is a costcutter on site that sells more than the basics, a laundry that dispenses its own wash powder but can be switched off if you asked in case of allergies. I would say that when we did a spot of washing we had to call maintenance to fix the machine but they arrived quickly and solved the problem so keep an eye on your machine - if its taking too long then it probably needs some attention.
The clubhouse had good entertainment on and a fair selection of drinks available although a little pricey.
The kids found hours of entertainment in the amusements which was surprising as there didn't seem that much to go on.
There is a train that goes round the site from 10am (until the queue has gone I guess) which again was enjoyed by the kids. The games field is a fair old trek away and we never got chance to walk round the site - it is big.
The security on site are quick to sort any problems and they regularly patrol the facilities and the site.
There is a pub, Morrisions and McDonalds 5 minutes by car from the site and Newquay itself was about 10-15 minutes away depending which way you go. I would add that you have to be away for 10am which I always think is a bit harsh for campers.
This was an ideal base to explore Cornwall for us and we were that impressed we booked for next year. Definitely recommended.

We stopped here with the family for 4 nights (the family stayed the full week) I've been to the site a few times, previous times previously stopped in the Pine field but this time we were in Oak,
The site is great for families, toilet blocks are cleaned constantly and are award winning apparently, the clubhouse puts on some good entertainment.
I think it would be more useful if the games field was more centrally located as we had children running, riding and playing ball games in between tents and parked cars and playing on the roads
But all in all a top site, the games field doubles as a holding field on saturday mornings for the over night travellers and to manage the mass of new arrivals, which they do fluidly.
Just on the outskirts of Newquay its a good site has a bus stop outside on the road and local taxi's are happy to pick up and drop off in the site.

Just come back from a weeks stay at Hendra, the wife and I stayed on an electric hook up pitch which was in the maple field. We was situated about 10 yards from the toilet blocks which were a really high standard only gripe the shower roses need adjusting as some hit the doors.
We did use the restaurant for breakfast as it was quite reasonable but not the clubhouse. We went for a meal at the kings head pub up the road can thoroughly recommend.
On the whole we really enjoyed the site the pitches are ample and found the price reasonable, But beware the site can be a little noisy especially the dawn chorus.

I have been going to hendra holiday camp for the past five years. We always go in October, and the weather is always fantastic, we must be lucky!
I cant recommend this site highly enough. The swimming pool and the flumes are amazing, Myself and my family spend hours in there. The site is very clean and tidy, and well situated for newquay, and Cornwall. On the whole, Cornwall has so much to offer, and Hendra have capitalised on this with a wonderful site to stay at.
I cant comment on the clubhouse as we have never been in there. The play areas for the kids are good, and during October, the site isnt very busy. Just how we like it.
We will be heading to Hendra holiday park this coming October. Its an 8 hour drive and over 400 miles, but well worth it.

This is a very large site and isn't normally the sort of place I would visit, however, to my surprise, my partner and I really enjoyed our stay.
We were only here for an overnight stop, but have to say given the size of the site and the amount of people that were staying here the site was absolutely immaculate. There were lots of staff cleaning and looking after the very well tendered grounds. The camping fields have an abundance of clean & modern toilet/shower facilities which is always a bonus in my eyes. The pitches were level, the grass was short and there were plenty of space between pitches.
The site has a super swimming pool, both outdoor and indoor - you do have to pay extra but well worth it. There is a good bowling alley that's fun in an evening. There are plenty of places to eat on site and the prices are fairly reasonable, there is evening entertainment available which we didn't see but looked good from the advertising posters.
Newquay is a short drive away but there are regular buses right outside the entrance. In brief, large site that is very well maintained, helpful staff and plenty of things for adults and children to do ( the particular highlight for us was air hockey - not played this for years!)

We have stayed at Hendra on numerous occasions and simply cannot fault it.
The grounds are immaculate and well maintained.
The toilet and shower block is warm, and spotless, regardless of how many visitors they have staying.
We have stayed both in a static van and our campervan and have always had the best service.
The girls on reception are polite, well informed and always happy to help.
I would most definitely recommend it to anyone.
The facilities for children are very good and first class entertainment all the way.
Keep up the high standards.

What a lovely place to stay! Just returned from a fantastic four day break at Hendra in one of their new caravans, as we decided it was a bit too chilly to get the camping gear out! Super, smashing, great! Nothing is too much trouble, the staff are really friendly and helpful. The whole place is spotless and its within easy reach of just about everything. We found Morrisons just up the road and the local farm shop too, and Macdonalds. Loved the indoor pool, loved the club. Cant wait to go back later in the year camping - pitches look great!

I have been to Hendra in a static caravan in June 2006, 2007, 2008 and am going again in October 2010. I go with several members of the family sometimes numbering 6 adults and 2 small children. The caravans themselves are very modern and clean right from the basic model upwards. The site is situated on a terraced hillside giving panoramic views of the Cornish countryside. There is usually ample parking for 2 vehicles right next to the caravans.
I have used the toilet / shower facilities provided for campers ( as you would have to with 8 of you and one shower)There are many showers, toilets and wash facilities. All are new and clean. The showers are good and hot and also free.
The site is situated several miles from Newquay just off a main road. There is a morrisons supermarket approx. Half a mile away. There is a costcutter shop on site with essentials and daily fresh bread. This is average price for a campsite shop.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor one is great in hot weather. The indoor one has 3 slides and various other bits and bobs. It does cost extra but is discounted if you are aguest on the site. It is open to everyone though and can get busy.
The site itself isnt too busy when I go however I can see that changing in school breaks.
The restaurant and bar on site are good, with good food and a wide selection of drinks. Again average price. Soft drinks are expensive though.
There is a pizza cafe and takeaway and also a chippy takeaway. I would avoid the chippy though, worst ive ever had but then again I've never found a chippy on a campsite that I have liked! fish and chips in a box is just wrong from the off!
The site itself is always very very clean and well maintained. The staff are helpful and friendly.
I will keep going back and back to this site as it never gets boring and is so well positioned for so many activities in Cornwall. I can recommend the world of miniature, which is more than it sounds! Also the Cornish cyder farm is a great visit. The beaches close by, I would recommend Crantock bay at Newquay and the beach at Perranporth.
Aside from the above, I have also noted that the camping pitches are well sized with good spacing between neighbouring units and plenty of room for awnings, windbreaks, vehicles etc.
I cannot recommend this site highly enough. There are great incentives for return visits with regular offers of heavily discounted future holidays that can be as much as half the price of your first holiday. And these repeat every year :)

Just got back from our holiday in Newquay. We stayed at this site as it was recommended by a friend. We loved this site, it was very well kept and the toilets/showers were very clean. When we arrived we were told we were booked on sycamore. When we went to our pitch, to our disappointment it was to small for our tent. We did give the measurements of our tent when we booked (due to new fire regs). We went to the office and they sent a site warden round to us. We needed a pitch with EHU. Luckily they had 2 EHU pitches available in the Rally fields (overflow). We was told we could use as much of the field as needed and that there would be no rush to pack up early on our departure day. We had a wonderful view and ended up having a massive pitch. Only problem was, we picked a pitch next to the toilets (we are new to camping), so it was noisy on a night as some campers were using there cars to go to the loo in the night. Very annoying when headlights are shining into your tent and they left the engine running. This did wake my 3yr old daughter up on several occasions, but had to grit teeth as didn't want to be seen as a moaning minny. Next time we go we will steer clear of toilet/shower block. I suppose we learn these things as we go along. The sites rules state that no same sex groups are allowed on site, this isn't the case as we had a bunch of rowdy males and females near to us.
Overall this site is really good. The Oasis pool is fab and our children really enjoyed it, the outdoor pool is heated but to cold for me. The on site chippy and pizzeria is very expensive and not that nice. It is a busy site, but very good!
