Right wow ! I love this site, bit far from near leeds 13 hour steady drive down.
Right this is a big site so you have to expect some of the problems, 1st was getting woke up first two mornings by traffic and or lawnmowers, like I said this is a big site so you have to accept all the maintenance that goes on. Showers although were temporary ones worked and were always clean if sometimes flooded ? toilets always clean and kept well.
We had a short walk 5 mins to the centre complex however this was appreciated later during the week once we realised that we had less traffic than most.
Shops and on site facilities were brilliant cheap and plentiful. I am trying really hard to moan about something other than the long drive down.
Right got one indoor pool had a 40 min cue/wait, every 20 min 50 people out 50 people in.
Outdoor pool was fine straight in ( both were fair size quite larger really)
Cost was ok not too much but not cheap to stay.
Location was ok 4 min drive to Newquay centre 1 min drive to Mcdonalds ( nearest wifi ) And morrisons was next door to macdees !
All in all a really great time to be had just be careful where you get a pitch if you are a light sleeper.

We stayed here in July of this year for our summer holiday and to celebrate my 30th birthday. The campsite has some excellent facilities, far too many to mention, and all were of an excellent standard apart from the bar/amusement arcade which looked very tired and in need of a good clean. The large club was ok, although when we visited there was no air conditioning so our stay was brief as it was way too hot to be comfortable. The pizza place on the site is also a bar and had entertainment in the form of a singer with a guitar which made a very pleasant atmosphere.
The pitch we were allocated was outstanding. There were five tents in our party and we were given a small field pretty much to ourselves. There were tall trees around us which provided excellent shelter from the wind and together with the position of the pitch we had the sun all day in our own sun trap. The pitches are nice and flat too. One concern initially was that the nearest toilet block was closed meaning we had quite a hike to the next block. With a pregnant lady and a newborn baby in our party this wasn't ideal. The manager of the site explained that it was to try and save money as it cost him a fortune to keep the block open. After much arguing he gave in and opened the block for us. We later discovered that a disabled lady who was staying with her two children had been having to struggle down to the main block despite the site knowing about her disability. This isn't a good advert for them as they have plenty of notices on the site about the commitment to provide access to disabled people.
The location of this site is perfect. There is a Morrison's just down the road which is handy and a fantastic pub within five minutes walk. The staff their were very friendly and the food was excellent. It is certainly worth a visit. There was also a circus just down the road which I believe is there through the summer holidays. It was very entertaining and also worth a visit.
Newquay is a lovely town, with excellent beaches and plenty to do. If you fancy a nice Italian meal, visit La Luna in Newquay town. We went here for my birthday and the staff were lovely and the this was without doubt the best Italian meal I have had. Padstow is a short drive up the coast and is well worth a visit. This is a beautiful little town with plenty of shops and cafes. There is also a Rick Stein patisserie.
Also close by is Newquay Zoo, another great day out. Newquay has plenty to offer for everyone of all ages.
All in all, this is a great site and in a fantastic location. I would definitely recommend this site, but I would think twice myself about returning. For the majority this would be a perfect site. For other same sex couples I would advise you avoid this site if you are easily offended.

Hendra deserves its five star rating. Just returned from a very enjoyable and very wet week.We travelled 10hrs during the night and arrived at 5.30am to avoid the terrible traffic jams we were warned of,(caught in them on journey home though). We were able to park up in field on campsite, check in was from 8am although we still could not get onto pitches until 12 as advertised. This meant we could go and have a look round and enjoy a hearty breakfast.
We were on oak field(plenty of room on pitch) which was close to all amenities of which there are plenty. Great outdoor pool and fantastic indoor pool with slides.A few parks scattered around the site and of course the bars and eateries.
Entertainment on every night in the club and usually a singer on most nights in the pizzeria bar. Two amusement arcades and host of things to keep the kids happy.
Beer was a bit pricey (£4.75 for a pint and half of lager)as was the fully stocked supermarket, but usual for this type of campsite.Morrisons only a few mins down the road to stock up on provisions as well as a lovely pub, macdonalds and a lidl.
Quite a walk from newquay but bus stops frequently outside and is cheap {£4.20 2ad x 2 ch return .) Newquay beaches are worth the long journey down and our girls loved surfing.
Toilets were first class kept immaculately clean the cleaner was always in the ladies.
A first class site I would recommend to anyone shame about our awful weather but wouldn't hesitate to return .10/10.

We arrived at this site whilst visiting Newquay. Our first impressions were great, reception staff helpful and friendly. We are a couple without kids so expected to be outnumbered but pitch where we were was quiet ,pitches a good size much bigger than other sites we have visited. Toilets and showers clean apart from later at night they were bit grubby. Both pools plenty of room for swimming and spectating. Bar serving food busy but ok, entertainment good for kids but that suited us as we used to be entertainers so know how important kids are. Singer on fri night was poor sounded like a karaoke singer(soz). We enjoyed this site and are planning another visit with friends. Keep up good work.

Stayed here for a week in June. Myself, my father and 4 children.
I feel that the brochure they send out could give a little more information of the fees (as in the cancellation scheme) as when I priced the site up online it was cheaper than when I called to book.
On saying that we had a brilliant week (helped of course by the gorgeous weather most of the time). We arrived at approx 11.30 and checked in very quickly, the reception staff seemed very efficient. Our pitch was the biggest I have ever had (but my tent is not exactly small) and level which is always a bonus. We were given instructions on where the tent should be pitched.
The toilet block was spotless and plenty of room, however they could probably do with another disabled/family shower as there were many people like myself with small children and the shower cubicles are quite compact. But I must stress that they were extremely clean and lovely hot water no matter what time of day we showered. The dishwashing facilities were also very good, they even provide each sink with a draining board.
The site itself seemed well laid out and pleaty for everyone to do. The shop is well stocked and not too badly priced for a site shop (I have known more expensive ones that's for sure). Morrisons supermarket is approx 5 minutes drive away and is huge.
The swimming pools were very well keps and plenty of changing room for the indoor one. My only grip with those were my 7 year old son who is autistic got kicked off the slides on the last day because one lifeguard thought he couldn't swim (unfortunately he has no co-ordination and does look a little funny when he is swimming) I did explain this to the lifeguard and pointed out his swimming style and that he was perfectly capable and also the fact that he had been on it all week, but this did not seem to make any difference. To top is all we then took him into the outdoor pool, stupidly while they had a diving session on and he desperately wanted a go. Try explaining to an autistic child that they are too little and they blow up like a bottle of pop. To pacify him I went to the site shop and brought him a mask and a snorkel, only to be told that they were not allowed in the pool! and to top it off, you are not allowed to video your children in the pool but can take still photo's of them? Hendra I think you really need to look at this policy, a still photo in the wrong hands can be just as dangerous as a video.
We only went to the entertainment one night, everyone seemed to have a good laugh and they certainly try to accommodate all age groups.
However, apart from my little grip about the pool situation, I would definitely recommend the site for its facilities and on the whole helpful staff.
Any chance of a discount next time Hendra. I would certainly go again.

As Hendra Management we would like to respond to some of the recent reviews.
We are delighted that so many of you enjoyed your holiday with us and that you appreciated what a fantastic site Hendra is with great local amenities nearby.
We would like to highlight Gbplumbing's review of our plentiful shower facilities. We are winners of 'Loo of the Year' and have received five stars in a variety of different award schemes. Therefore we strongly disagree with Judeobscure's assessment that there are not enough showers. Our ratio of showers to guests is 30% more than recommended by Visit Britain.
The cancellation scheme is put onto every pre-arrival booking at Hendra Holiday Park. This is a very generous and popular insurance plan that allows guests to cancel for any reason up until four weeks before arrival, and receive a full refund. It also covers guests between four weeks and arrival for redundancy and serious illness. Our feedback from most guests is that they appreciate us offering this to them. We are often put in a very difficult position due to circumstances beyond our control and we obviously do lose out in most instances when people cancel their holidays as in many cases, it is too late for us to re-book pitches or caravans. We believe a cancellation premium is a fair and justified way to legislate for this and to offer refunds for disappointed customers who have to cancel, in what are usually unfortunate circumstances for them.
Our booking staff are trained to apply this for every quote they give out and it is clearly listed in our terms and conditions. We do not feel it is a 'stealth tax' but a valuable product we hope to explain to all potential customers. If this has not been explained to anyone calling our booking hotline, then I must apologize for a one-off mistake on our part. However, I am sure you can appreciate that of course we need any opt-outs in writing. An email or letter is required so we have proof should any customers make a false claim.
We waive the cancellation scheme automatically for all casual bookings and bookings made less than seven days before arrival. If Judeobscure was charged a cancellation scheme on arrival this is absolutely a mistake for which we apologise. We also waive the booking fee for all casual arrivals.
There is a £15 specific pitch fee which is applied only for holiday-makers who want to guarantee where they go on the park. This does not apply to casual arrivals and if this has occurred in the case of the reviewers below we would gladly offer a refund if they would like to contact us.
We absolutely refute allegations that we are not concerned about health and safety. In fact it is completely the opposite. Our insurers use Hendra as an example to other parks for health and safety best practice.
In the last year alone, we have invested significantly in even stricter fire regulations. We have the most rigorous pitching standards of any holiday park we are aware of in the area. In the last year we have lost 56 pitches to increase sizes overall and Hendra already has the largest of any site around. Larger pitches are not more expensive. The tariff is per person per night. Every tourer or camper has to give us their unit dimensions before we make a booking. We will not take any bookings until they have done so and until we allocate a pitch with a large enough fire break. There are no charges for us finding you a bigger pitch for a bigger unit.
I can only assure you of the many, many hours spent setting up this new system and the time and effort that all our staff go to, to book everyone onto safe and spacious pitches.
If units are overlapping pitches, our wardens who patrol the site will ask guests to re-park or re-pitch. We do hand out our fire-safe pitching instructions on check-in. If their unit does not fit onto the pitch because the dimensions they gave are inaccurate, they will be moved to another pitch subject to availability. This is checked regularly and I can assure Judeobscure that any over-spilling units presenting a fire risk will have been picked up by our wardens and corrected.
Finally, we believe the bar prices are in line with similar venues and that they represent fair value for money.

Been here a few times now and we love it. Great site with some great pitches, loads to do, our little girl loves the train rides with Henry the Hippo. Childrens entertainment is fantastic but the adult entertainment can be a bit ropey depending who's on.
Facilities are clean and plentiful, plenty of free hot water in the showers and never had to queue. Ideally located just outside Newquay, there's a couple of pubs within walking distance and a Morrisons just down the road although the on site supermarket is well stocked.
The only downside, as has been mentioned in other reviews, is that over the years they seem to have become very adept at parting campers from their hard earned cash. Prices at the bar are a bit steep, ok I understand that the entertainment has to be paid for somehow but if you're sitting in the downstairs bar with no cabaret why should you have have to subsidise those upstairs?
Also, when booking on line look out for the 'stealth' £10 cancellation fee. It's never mentioned until you get to checkout and then if you want to have it removed you have to notify them in writing. A bit naughty if you ask me, they must make thousands from it! That aside it is still a very good campsite with something for everyone

Excellent Will definitely be returning, toilets and showers incredibly clean, excellent drainage on the pitch. Shop on site, reasonable prices, bars overpriced. Paid for electric hook up with very low amps they could do with increasing the amps they give you. Newquay is a great place with great shops and brilliant nightlife only £6 in a taxi each way.

Stayed at this camp over Easter 2009, my review includes positives and negatives
Positives
• Excellent amenities on site • Appeared plenty for children to do • Food very good and reasonably priced • Shop well stocked, again reasonably priced • Most staff extremely helpful & friendly • Good pitches • Newquay is a great place for a holiday
Negatives
• Would benefit from more showers • Site appears resourceful in extracting additional money from visitors, ie. We did not pre-book but when we arrived and cancelling was not an option, we still had to pay the £10.00 cancellation fee. £15.00 fee for choosing specific field • Some concern about disregard for Health & Safety Fire Regulations, ie. Advocating necessity for more expensive adequate pitch sizes, but ignoring vehicles overlapping pitch boundaries
Conclusion
Positives outweigh negatives, and would stay here again, most probably at Easter or early / late season due to the availability of facilities during these periods. I would avoid high season due to concern about probability of insufficient showers and queuing and it would be necessary to pre-book a pitch incurring additional fees above the normal booking fee, which increases overall costs making the site less attractive than some of it's local competitors for most of the season

It is a beautiful park set in good surroundings and the hardstanding pitch was very good, but nobody spoke to each other or helped each when moving a caravan etc people were more likely to stare instead not proper caravan folk, very strange and never experienced anything like it on any site previously visited.
The so called family bar upstairs was not very good either as you were sat in complete darkness and if your children like to wander around like our 2 year old does you lose them if they go further then 3 metres!
Very expensive bar prices as well.
Shower blocks always seemed very clean and well presented even with plasma tv`s
We would prob go again but I think I will have a look at whats on offer in the surrounding area first before making a decision.
