I have never written a review before (good nor bad). After coming to this campsite I felt compelled to write one.

For my husband & I Lynn truly made our holiday a great experience. We're keen walkers & she recommended some fantastic walks to us. But it was more than just that. She remembered where we had been everyday & asked about it. She's very enthusiastic.

The toilets & showers are immaculate.

The 'pop up' food & drinks are a brilliant idea, which we've never seen before.

The pub serves great food & is only about 1mile away (off road, on a cycle track).

The BBQ hire is great (you don't have to clean it!)

You can hear the road, but it didn't bother us much.

I can't recommend this campsite enough, you can tell the owners do everything themselves & take great pride in it.

This campsite is magical! No other campsite we've been to in 16 years has come close to the atmosphere created by the incredibly hard working Lynn and John. This couple run their site virtually single handed for 5 months every year yet the shower block is immaculate, the bins are never full, but they always have time for a chat and appear laid back and relaxed. Harvey, head of security is a friendly dog too, in spite of his home being invaded by many other canine friends. The deck area is so attractively laid out with bunting and comfortable seating that it becomes a hub for people to gather and socialise as well as visiting it to connect to wifi!

As with the other reviews, there are the same niggles: the amount of showers is inadequate for a full campsite, especially given the number of tents and camper vans. I had to queue on 4 of my 8 mornings, something I haven't done for several years. The showers are on a timed push button and the water is too hot. There IS traffic noise but we soon got used to it, in spite of being close to the road and by a particularly sparse part of the hedge.

TV reception was virtually non-existent on our pitch and we didn't take a radio as we'd got so used to being able to get radio channels on the TV. But this liberated us and turned us into proper campers, relying on reading newspapers, walking in the evening to a lovely pub or playing cards.

The visiting fish and chip and pizza vans were good as was Anna's cocktail bar. The added touch of a circle of deck chairs close to the food vans meant that visitors stayed and chatted whilst they ate rather than take the food back to their pitches.

From a tourist perspective this site is perfect: safe dog walks to Pentewan, Heligan and Mevagissey, easy road links to the Roseland Peninsula, Fowey and the North Cornwall coast. We went to many of the places suggested on The Meadows website and none disappointed.

Visit the website - if you like it's style, you'll love the ambiance of the whole place

After much searching for the perfect campsite, in the perfect location for a two week stay I stumbled across The Meadows, I spent so long researching the site first as the last thing you want is to end up stuck somewhere awful for two weeks!

We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived the friendliness of the site and relaxed nature greeted you. So much space, not only between pitches but generally all over the site which is something that you struggle to find in lots of other sites.

The Meadows came into its own though when the first of the pop up cocktail bars arrived, out came John with the beach deck chairs on the grass in front of the decking and slowly everyone started making their way down for a cocktail and sitting around people started chatting. What a social able site! We totally loved it, through the two weeks we chatted to more people on site than we ever have done throughout all our years camping. Not in your face though, general social able on the pop up bar nights and down on the decking for the free wifi just made this place seem so great. We did make friends with a few and had a few nights around their fire pit. Not a rowdy site, even when a large group of younger guys turned up they stuck to the rules (not that there is many of them!)

John and Lynn are lovely, can't do enough for you, always around in the background, approachable and helpful and Harvey the camp security is just great.

We pitched on foxglove, it is on the road side of the campsite but after a day we really didn't notice the noise from the road, it quietens down from around 9. 30pm and maybe started back up again about 6ish but the noise of the birds drowns it out! The bonus of this side of the site is that it gets the sun later in the evening and we were able to sit out enjoying it longer than the other side of the site. It also meant that we didn't get the first of the morning sun so the tent was not unbearable.

There are 3 ladies showers, all with toilets and sinks and two male showers with the same, also there are separate toilets. As with most sites there can be a slight queue first thing in the morning but if you timed it right we only had to wait once over our two weeks. No issues with cleanliness either, every time I bumped into Lynn she seemed to be in there cleaning!

Overall we had an amazing time here, even with iffy Cornwall weather for the majority of our first week we loved it. So easy to get out and about from here to all parts of Cornwall, lots of walks straight from the campsite (perfect for early morning dog walks along the river) and such a dog friendly site.

We will most definitely return! Thank you Lynn, John and Harvey.

What a find! The site I

Laid back and back to PROPER camping. The weather was not great but didn't spoil the enjoyment for us. Facilities were always clean and way above average! The owners are lovely and helpful and the pop up bar, breakfasts etc are a real bonus. The one down side is we don't live nearer, so can't come as often as we would like! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED *******

Visited this site after reading the reviews and I must say I agree with them, the owners greeted us and showed us to our pitch which was plenty large enough for our Outwell Montana 6 tent. The site owners Lynn and John were lovely people, always on hand to answer any questions and were always happy to help. The campsite was very nice and quiet and the toilet block was always clean, I say block because the male and female toilet/shower facilities were in the same block which took a bit of getting used to but was ok. The fish and chip van on a Monday and the pizza van and cocktail van on Tuesday was a nice touch and the food and cocktails were very good. There was plenty to see and do in the area with the Eden Project only a short distance away, had a really nice meal at the Polgooth Inn which was only a short drive away from the campsite, although the drive along the narrow road to get there was an interesting one. All in all a very nice site and a great base to explore St Austell and the rest of Cornwall. There's also an Asda and a Tesco Store not too far away for those needing provisions. I would definitely recommend this site to others and would visit it again.

To me a 7/10 site is a good score. To get a 10 I want welcome cocktails and dancing girls. But this site gets a 9.

The service and relaxed atmosphere are what make it and it's respected. It's the little things like getting your fire pit delivered and its mAde up ready to light and cleaned in the morning. Freezer block and phone charging free services. Toilets nice and clean and grass well tended. Pluse the park and pitch and varied locations to pitch with ample room in the wild camping.

The pizza/burger/cocktail vans that come during the week are fab. Only tried the pizza but one of the best we've had. The ship inn is great for a pint, food is simple but good value. The polegarth (spelling not checked) tries a bit too hard but still ok if you fancy the walk. The loft in st Ives was a great find on this trip.

Don't get me wrong the chilled atmosphere and the need to wheel your camping equipment from your car is not every bodies cup of tea, although they do have the more traditional pitches too.

Location is really central for exploring, on the door step dog walk and a nice walks to several pubs.

Small down side was the road noise and the wild camping area did hold the water a little and the paths through the long grass were narrow so when it rained trousers got wet.

Perhaps one more set of hooks in the showers, but the cubical a were large and great gone to get your cloths soaked.

I'm looking for faults here. There aren't many with thus site and apart from the weather this has probably been one of the best weeks camping we've had. Thanks Lynn & John.

Just come back from a wonderful stay at The Meadows and I would recommend the site to anyone who wants a relaxing time in peaceful surroundings. The site is located just of the main road from St Austell to Mevagissy but I can honestly say that this did not bother us in the slightest.

John and Lynn are lovely and keep the site wonderfully clean. They are always around if you have any queries but are not intrusive. We made full use of the shower block and laundry facilities and could not fault them.

The location of the site makes it easy to get around whether it be by foot, bike, bus or car and I will definitely be making a return visit.

Great campsite. Very well managed by two very friendly and accommodating people, Lynn and John, and of course Harvey the guard dog(who is a big softy!).

Excellent very clean facilities.

Good to have a Fish and Chip van, a Pizza, Burger, and a Cocktail van attending the site.

Within a reasonable and a pretty walking distance to Heligan.

Hope to return next year.

This is a lovely, relaxed and relaxing, friendly site – one of the best we've stayed at – in a great location. The site is well kept, but with a natural feel, especially in the longer-grassed tent area, and the sight and smell of woodsmoke rising from the campfies in the evenings makes for a lovely atmosphere. Owners Lynn and John make you feel welcome and at home and are always around, without being overbearing in the slightest. Their information and advice about the area, tips on eating places and how to get about is really helpful. The facilities are absolutely spotless and the individual ensuite wetrooms, along with separate toilets, were never too busy while we were there, even though the campsite was full.

Location is good – we left our van on the site and walked to Mevagissey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan (wonderful) and Pentewan Sands, and took the bus (which stops just outside the campsite) to Charlestown. The excellent Polgooth Inn is about a 40-minute walk away, and well worth the trek. Free WiFi is available on the deck outside Lynn and John's house, if you need to get online.

A beautiful, outsandingly good small site. We thoroughly enjoyed it here and would love to return.

Absolutely fabulous site and owners. John and Lynn couldn't do enough for you. The facilities are absolutely spot on. The location is great and you can walk to most places. If you are looking for a relaxed quirky site then this is it. We were lucky enough to sample the cocktail bar on two separate occasions, the pizza oven and the fish and chip van which were all totally awesome. We will definitely be returning next year and have recommended it to friends who have booked for August this year. I'm just gutted I have no holiday left for this year to go again! Thanks for an amazing stay!
