Loved this site John and Lynn very friendly, the facilities were always very clean and loved the fact they are individual bathrooms. A very friendly site. The visit of the cocktail van and pizza van were added bonuses.
Pentewan is within walking distance and getting to Mevagissey on the bus was easy and on the way back the bus driver dropped us at the campsite entrance without asking!

The Meadows is a great site and I would recommend it to anyone.
The site is divided into two parts. The northern half is made up of standard pitches, all clearly marked and with plenty of room for large tents or caravans. The southern half is the interesting bit, though, since that is a large meadow filled with tall grasses and flowers. The meadow has mowed-out rounded pitches for the tents, with pathways cut to let you get from pitch to pitch. Being in the meadow feels great, very relaxed and friendly, especially in the evening with a fire-pit lit and the bats fluttering over head.
We had a few days of (very) heavy rain while we were staying, but the meadow is well drained by a ditch cut round the outside, and even though the turf got quite squelchy at times, moving around was never a problem.
John and Lynn run the site, and are around every day to help with anything you might need. They were both friendly, and clearly enjoy running the site and interacting with the visitors.
You can rent a fire pit or a barbecue on site, which is really convenient. If you rent a fire pit then John will set it up for you, with all the wood you need and a few quick tips about how to get the best results.
The site has regular visits from a pizza oven and a fish and chips van, but best of all is the cocktail van which turns up regularly in the evenings and sells very reasonably priced cocktails to the people on the site. There are much worse ways to spend a summer evening than relaxing outside your tent with a tom collins. Very civilised.
The toilet block is clean and new, with plenty of shower stalls for the size of the site, and a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The site is well placed for all the attractions in that part of Cornwall, which are mostly gardens (you can walk to the gardens of heligan through the woods in about half an hour).
All told, it's very difficult to find anything to criticize about the site. It's adults only, so no good for families, but for everyone else I'd recommend it unreservedly.

What a gorgeous site in a great location.
When we arrived we had a friendly welcome and were shown to our pitch which was on the edge of the meadow. The site is kept in immaculate condition and the showers and toilet block are always very clean with a hairdryer, washing machine and dryer at a reasonable price to use.
On the Monday when we arrived a fish and chip van came round which was great and then on Tuesday you could purchase freshly made pizzas from the mobile van which were very yummy.
The meadows is definitely worth camping at and the owners should be very proud of there site.

Great site good location. This site is one of the best we have visited, booked for three nights stayed for five. The owners John&Lynn couldn't be more helpful and obliging. The Washroom, pitches and site are kept immaculate, security is excellent patrold by Harvey (but can be bribed by a tasty treat)we really had an excellent time visiting nearby attractions. Thank you for an enjoyable stay will visit again.

A very pleasant site in a good location for exploring this area of Cornwall. The facilities were always pristine no matter what time of day or night, with reliable hot water and well stocked with hand soap, 'real' towels and generous supplies of toilet tissue. The site was well cared for and maintained. Pitches were of a reasonable size and access from the road was good.
The only negative comment I can make is that there was a little traffic noise from the adjacent road, this did not bother us unduly although some campers were grumbling about it.
This site is perfect for dog owners and our Greyhound Robbie certainly enjoyed his stay! There are lovely river side and woodland walks very close to the camp site.
We felt the site offered good value for money and would recommend it to others.

What a gem this site is, beautiful location, immaculate site, great facilities and the friendliest owners you will meet anywhere.
The site is flat and well sheltered, great size pitches on well kept grass, toilet block is so user friendly with individual wet rooms. Plenty of hot water to showers and wash up. Great for getting out and about without a car as the bus stop is just yards away. Plenty of good walks or cycle rides very close to site.
This is the second year I have visited this site, and I just gets better and better.
Please don't telł too many campers just how good this small but beautiful site is, otherwise I may not get in next year. Only kidding, the young enthusiastic owners deserve to be supported with a full site every week.

What a lovely little gem of a site, I've never been more welcomed by the owners John and Lynn. As soon as you arrive you are shown around and given your pitch. We intended to stay for four weeks but were so relaxed there that we ended staying a few more nights! The toilet block is kept immaculate and the disabled shower has loads of room to accommodate those of us who require to use it. John and Lynn are a lovely couple and were full of knowledge of the surrounding area. We were there with our two border collies Skye and Breeze and they met lots of like minded friends while we were there. We had a bit of a problem finding some dog friendly beaches to start with but Lynnn sorted us out and kept us right. Anyone visiting can't go till you've tried John's full monty breakfast baguette it'll set you up for a week! The site is perfectly located and is so peaceful and only a short walk along the river to the local pub. Although I think one of the highlights of my holiday is when I caught a 50lb five foot blue shark of the coast of Falmouth, Lynn told my wife that I was full of myself. Well I had the bragging rights and the photo's to prove it lol. There is a wood fired pizza van that came once a week also not to miss is the VW bar serving out the Mohito and the the Little tea van that would just appear serving beautiful Cornish cream teas. This is not a site to overlook and it will be the only place we stay when in Cornwall!

We stayed for 4 nights at this lovely little site and would have liked to have stayed a little longer.
I would agree with the other reviewers about the road noise and initially I was a little dismayed at being so close to the road, however after a while it really does become unnoticeable and is very quiet at night-time. I also think that the the toilet emptying station could really do with changing with the addition of some screening and a hose.
For us they were the only 2 niggles and the rest of the campsite's benefits far outweighs the niggles.
Breakfast baguettes in the morning either on the terrace or delivered to you pitch were brilliant, the mobile pizza kitchen is a novel and most welcome feature. And my favourite thing of all - the campfires! What a treat to have a firepit brought to you and set up ready to be lit with ample wood supplied to last for many hours. We did have a slight problem with the disabled bathroom lock on our first day, but this was immediately rectified by John.
Finally a mention of the toilet block - absolutely spotless at all times and each shower is contained within its own wet room with dedicated sink and WC - brilliant and so very convenient.
We would definitely return to this site and stay longer next time. John and Lynn were brilliant, knowledge and friendly and we wish them every success.

Just returned from a wonderful week at The Meadows. John and Lynn have worked so hard to create a relaxing camp site. Yes the road noise is there and made us less likely to just sit and relax on site during the day but most of the time you didn't really notice it. The shower block was kept spotlessly clean, always smelt fresh and there was always plenty of hot water. The pizza van on a Tuesday was a real bonus and the pizzas delicious, although hubby still not convinced by banana and chocolate! The breakfast baguettes also a great idea and a very filling start to the day. Unfortunately we never got to try any cakes. We are keen walkers and it was great to be able to do so many rambles straight from our tent. The walk from Pentewan to Charlestown on the South coast path and back along the cycle path was exhilarating - my calves are still feeling all those steps. Heligan, The Eden project and Lanhydrock house were all thoroughly enjoyable days out. We would also highly recommend the Shipwreck and Heritage centre in Charlestown. Also as others have said, the Polgooth Inn was excellent and the service impressive, given the numbers of people there. We loved our spot down by the stream, watching all the birds in the trees as we ate our breakfast. It was our first stay at an adult only campsite and on the whole we felt that the friendly atmosphere among the campers that you get with families around was missing, but maybe that's just us. We would recommend the site and wish John and Lynn every success in the future.

All in all a wonderful site which is very close to the cycle trail for either Pentewan, St. Austell or Mevagissey (Mevagissey trail very steep both ways). The owners were very busy and could not do enough to make sure that everybody had a pleasant stay. The evening visit of the outside catering van was a plus and the wood fire cooked pizzas delivered to our table made our evening! There is an issue with traffic noise but not enough to spoil our stay and it stops quite early at night. Everyone is different but we were not happy with the arrangement of the toilet block in that there are no dedicated male/female entrances. The toilet emptying station is not screened or very well sited and should be provided with a hose for washing out the cassette. For the size of the site I worry about whether the toilet/shower block, albeit spotless and new, is adequate during busy times. Washing up facilities are positioned directly under toilet windows------not the best of ideas! Owners are only in their second season and I'm sure that they will pick up on these points. Thank you for a lovely stay.
