The Meadows is one large field with tents, motorhomes and touring caravans mingled together, with the helpful owners in the bungalow near the access. It is reasonably flat but if the site is full and the weather has been wet then some pitches would be damp. I moved to get a better pitch. The grass was short over most of the site. The campsite is next to a fairly busy road so is not country quiet. Having said this, I initially came for a couple of nights but stayed six and there was a relaxed atmosphere on the site so others seemed happy.
The owners really make this site. They are new to the business and making an effort to offer a good service. I sat at their breakfast bar (wooden picnic tables on decking by the side of the bungalow) eating a home- made baguette with their own free range eggs, sausage and mushrooms (£2. 50). Whilst I ate, I watched a Great Spotted Woodpecker coming for its' breakfast together with various small birds and a grey squirrel at a birdfeeder above the chicken run. The owner also takes pride in his home- made cakes.
I got up early to have a leisurely shower and this was the time that the block was cleaned on a daily basis. I would have preferred that the shower block had a dividing door between the male and female ends of the single block and that the shower was not on a push button but the facilities were kept clean, there was plentiful hot water (although less pressure at busier times) and a very good hair dryer available (free). There was also a washing machine and tumble dryer. Because I take a long time in the shower, I would have preferred longer before the timer switched off the lights but for most people this would probably not be an issue and the lights are activated when someone comes through the outside door! Just outside the washroom there washing up area and access to water.
The owners handed out an information sheet about the site, had tourist information and were generous with advice about the local area. They had a local OS map for reference. I was able to leave freezer packs in their freezer (free). They charged £1 to charge my camera battery.
There are good walks on the coast path within easy reach. I went during the Mevagissey Festival which was a very enjoyable part of Cornish culture. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are nearby. They have a new cook - I went for lunch three times during my stay. (lovely home- made quiches, soups, cakes etc. ).
The site is dog friendly and there were well - behaved owners with well behaved dogs. I did not find this a problem
I paid £11 per night and felt this was good value. I would come to this site again.

Just back from a fabulous weekend at The Meadows. John, Lynn and Camp Dog Harvey are the perfect hosts and have worked tirelessly to turn The Meadows into a clean, friendly and relaxing campsite. Shower block was spotless with hot powerful showers, the pitches spacious, cake delicious and the location is brilliant for the beach, Pentewan Valley Trail and the SW coastal path.
We were lucky to stay in Lottie a vintage caravan lovingly and thoughtfully kitted out by Lynn with everything you could need for a relaxing few nights away. I can't wait to go back and will try the breakfast baguettes next time!

Arrived at site to a warm welcome from the owners, was given a list of dog friendly beaches and walks for our dog and asked where we would like to park our caravan. They explained about the (free) showers, which were excellent, always clean and liked the way they were set out with a loo and washbasin in the shower cubicles.
Decided to try one of their great breakfast baguettes, which were good value, just used to order from our chairs outside the caravan the had them on the deck, well presented on a plate with warm baguette on side of plate. Could have had a pot of coffee if we wanted but had taken our own coffee machine. We would certainly go back if we lived a bit closer and will recommend to anyone that is visiting Cornwall.
There is a local shop within walking distance that sold newspapers amongst other things.
The noise from the road can be a bit annoying but after a couple of days we didn't notice it.

Very welcoming owners, dog and chickens. As the site name suggests, a meadow it is, which means it is going to get soggy underfoot when it rains, as it did on my last morning.
Toilet block beautifully done but not quite user friendly. There are insufficient dry places in each cubicle to put stuff, and to be sure of keeping it dry you have to almost put it outside. A shower curtain in each mini wet room will help. Basins rather small, taps rather big, and annoying push button showers with a fixed shower head you can't adjust.
There is a lovely feel to the site, but for me rather too near to the road.
Breakfast, tea and coffee were excellent quality and very reasonably priced.
I wish the owners luck, it was certainly popular when I was there, with many satisfied customers.

What can I say apart from excellent !
We drove down to the meadows for a week I sadly had to go back to the midlands for 3 days for work issues but I left my wife and son on the site. The owners made sure my wife was ok and checked on them daily offering help and direction, thanks guys for that above and beyond the call of duty.
I have driven past the site for years on the way to pentewan but never called in, but now the site has had serious amount of work done by the new owners, it's starting to look superb
It's a very relaxed quiet little site my 7 year old son and my wife loved it with a beautiful clean shower block the pitches are level and spacious enough and you can choose which one you want. The owners will hire you a bbq or fire pit and take it away to clean it for you save all the hassle of you doing it brilliant idea this is definitely not our last visit and I can see us being regulars of the site truly good look to this little site it deserves to do well come take a look

We stayed at The Meadows for three nights with our dog Harley. We loved the site very clean and well maintained, superb shower block. The owners are a lovely couple and could not do enough for us and giving us great tips and directions for lovely walks, Kings Wood just five minute walk away. They make the most lovely cakes well worth a try! We will definitely be visiting again in the future as there are so many places and beaches within walking distance which we did not get to see. Give this place a try you will not be disappointed!

Have been visiting the meadows for the past few years, after our visit at Easter 2012 we decided that it would be our last, then thankfully the new owners bought The Meadows, a major turn around, a huge amount of hard work for them and now the site is great, shower block totally revived, plenty of hot water in the showers, the site grounds are clear of debris and hedges, gardens all tidy and managed.
The weather was not the best when we visited but look forward to our next visit to sit on the decking with the owners for a glass of wine and to watch the evening go by.
Thank you to you both for a great job in making The Meadows a place to look forward to going back to

Just returned home from a long bank holiday weekend, Have not been to the Meadows for 2 years, Wow, thought I had gone to the wrong site, What a fabulous difference, Lynn+ John have transformed this site into a fantastic haven for anyone wanting a great stay. The site services are some of the best I have seen for a long time, everything is just as it should be, spotless toilet and shower block and informative friendly hosts.
There is a good bus service to St Austell and beyond, Mevagissy is a must see little fishing village. There is so much to see and do all within easy reach of this gem of a site, There is an easy river walk/cycle to pentewan where you will find the ship inn, excellent food and friendly staff make for a warm welcome, my partner and I are already planning our next trip to the Meadows, 5 star.

Stayed here for three nights with my partner and border collie in our tent. We were informed on entering the site that we could pitch wherever we pleased and headed towards the bottom of the site close to the stream. When we realised that our electricity cable wouldn't reach the nearest electric point, the owners kindly lent us an extension lead and told us that if we needed anything else then to just ask. The new owners have obviously spent a lot of money and hard work getting the site ready for opening. The shower block is great with the showers contained in personal rooms containing not only the shower but a washbasin and toilet. This meant plenty of room for the user. Whilst we were there, a new washing machine and tumble dryer was installed. Work on the site by the owners is still on-going but I would urge campers not to be put off by this and to give John and Lynn a chance. They are a hard working couple eager to please (they even threw a barbecue whilst we were there although we couldn't attend due to previous arrangements). Our dog was allowed to play on the field (under our close supervision I hasten to add)and all in all, we enjoyed a few relaxing laid back days at The Meadows.

We live in Pentewan village and needed to find a site nearest to us for friends to stay. Most of which are vintage vanners and cool campers, this is definitely the site for us with its lovely meadow and stream. You can go wild and pitch up where you like, so refreshing from the other sites ive been too and even allow FIRES woow. Got talking to the new owners and what a great couple with lots of amazing stories! the showers block was top notch and that's what my wife looks out for in a site as you need it when vintage camping lol. The new owners have done a great job with this site and I can see they've put their hearts into it, all the best for a great season our friends will be stopping.
