Fantastic site, very clean, marked areas for pitching! Well stocked shop, fantastic fishing, dog exercise area and playing field. Showers/toilets 5* for cleanliness. We stayed in the paddock 'walled' area. Large supermarket 5-7 mins drive. Very close to Bridlington harbour which is a good for a stroll and busy town centre. Filey Beach and Scarborough all within 30 mins drive. Cracking location. Will definitely visit again. Well done Jane & co on keeping the site so clean.

Stayed for 1 week on a pitch furthest away from the road glad we did as the site is a bit on the sloped side. Pitch size was very good.
Found the facilities to be lovely and clean did have to wait for the showers on a few occasions and and the site was nowhere near full.
The play park I agree with a previous post is nothing much although the play field was good although a bit out of the way for the younger ones to go alone with the fishing lakes around.
Strict no ball games signs around most did abide by this rule.
The shop was not open for long enough in my opinion if you want to use the games room as things have to be rented from there.
One afternoon we wanted pool cues and found the shop was closed during the daytime.
There is nowhere within walking distance so a car is needed although a bus stop was near by.
Felt a bit hemmed in when a couple of large tents pitched up opposite with 8 kids between them were pretty noisy straight away and after the first early start from them and were glad to be leaving.
Overall we liked the site but probably would not return.

Been going here for a number of years now and will still go for many years to come but I agree with some previous comments both positive an negative.
Great showers etc but I do get fed up with the grass cutting as they don't collect the cuttings which mean you drag grass into your awning and caravan and I have seen grass piled up in the showers.
My kids enjoy the site even though I feel the playground is pointless, but they do have a good games room and games field. Not many negatives but I do think the site is pricey but you do get a large discount for longer bookings.
I paid around £245 for 9 nights including August Bank Holiday which averaged out around £27 a night.

We are regular campers on this gem of a site and have been for several years. Our children, now young adults, have always enjoyed camping here over the years and have now invested in tents of their own to join us.
We always camp on the tent field without electric and find that we have plenty of room for our family tent and car without intruding on other campers. There are hook-up pitches within the old walled garden and paddock which are also spacious.
It's the cleanest site we have ever come across. The showers are hot 24/7, with free hair/bodywash. Toilets are very clean and plenty of them. The family bathroom is very well equipped for anyone with young children or anyone who requires diabled facilities. This year we introduced our Granddaughter to camping (aged 7 months at the time). She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and slept peacefully every night after plenty of fresh air and a relaxing bath before bed.
The Laundry Room is very well equipped with washing machine, dryer, iron, hand wash sinks and spinner. There is also a public telephone in the Laundry Room in addition to one next to the site shop/office.
The shop is well stocked and the site Manager is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It is true that the shop closes mid afternoon and re-opens about 4pm until 6pm but the site Manager's contact details are posted in several places around the site and she also takes a tour of the site every night, when she locks the games room and makes sure people are abiding by the rules. We very often see the site Manager between 10pm and 11:30pm walking around the site.
We enjoy the peace and quiet of this site. The sounds of nature, particularly the Barn Owls and Tawny Owls - actually spotting these birds of prey in the wild is breathtaking and every year we have not been disappointed. Last year we actually spotted a young deer, not sure who was more startled us or the deer! The site has wildlife conservation awards and is the perfect place to teach young children to enjoy and respect the countryside without the need for batteries, games consoles, mobile phones etc.
It is difficult to get a mobile phone signal but we don't see this as a negative and there are public phone boxes on site.
The games room has a pool table, table tennis table, table football, a couple of arcade games and a TV, which is all very useful when the heavens open. The games field is vast and the fishing lake well stocked.
As well as Rudston itself there are plenty of small villages to explore and a Garden Centre down the road which has a very good restaurant and coffee bar. Bridlington, Flamborough, Bempton Cliffs and Filey are a short drive away. Sledmere and Burton Agnes are definitely favourite attractions of ours and Bridlington Old Town is a very interesting place, steeped in history and with an exceptinally good fish and chip shop.
We think it's good value for money. We're only disappointed when it's time to pack up and go home! We will be returning to this site again this year and hopefully for many years to come.

Just returned home from a 2 week break. This is our second stay at Thorpe Hall and we loved it. Being a large family and dog.
We found that the owners work incredibly hard to maintain a well established well cared for site. We did have an issue with a group next to us the first couple of nights but after we reported this they were quick to help and the incident quickly resolved.
Its a case of if you don't say anything to the management at the times their not on site, how are they suppose to know?
The grounds were well maintained and toilet blocks clean with free hot showers and soap. The kids love the games field and games room which they always look forward too.
I cannot speak highly enough on the friendly, helpful manner not to say how nice they are to the children even though they were in and out of the shop several times a day. Keep up the good work and we shall be back next year.

Our second visit to this site, as we loved it so much last year. This year, however, I have some negatives to give, though then I’ll end on what’s still fab about the site.
The 2 main areas we had problems with were:
1. They cut the grass but don’t pick it up, leaving swathes of soggy grass cuttings to get in your tent, and more importantly all over the washrooms – they really were a mess at most times.
2. This site attracts BIG tents and caravans. Our 5-man tent was by far the smallest, the units to either side of us were 8 and 10 man tents with gazebos & extensions, and we didn’t see anything smaller. This is just about OK, though I reiterate previous comments that the lack of plot shielding combined with tent sizes makes your neighbours feel very close.
This latter point is tolerable, except when you have families that blatantly ignore the ‘respect your neighbours’ rule re: being quiet at appropriate times. The little cherubs next to us started singing at 7am and were practising dance moves to loud music by 8. 30, and the parents seemed determined to use their electric air pump on everything that moved, at random points of the morning and late evening. Another camper complained that the caravan next to him had their TV blaring out late into the night. The noisy people were all local-ish people who talked of visiting regularly, and I think this makes them treat the site like their own garden.
This problem is confounded by the fact that the site manageress – who is brilliant in every other way, really fantastic – is not on duty before 9. 30am or after about 7pm, exactly the times when you need someone doing the rounds.
In the end, we left a day early as we couldn’t stand the noise from next door.
So, on to the good bits, by way of balance:
The showers are powerful and hot, and you can wash down the shower cubicle with them, prior to & after use. They are also free and don’t have those silly 5-second buttons. There are private sink-only cubicles in the ladies as well.
The site shop is pretty good, with local bacon etc and papers. The site manageress is a knowledgeable local lady with some great tips on places to visit; if she could be on site more I’m sure this place would be perfect.
It’s in a lovely area, with nice walks and good nature-watching. The pub down the road has shut down, so your nearest watering hole/food is a drive away now, but most other villages have at least 2 pubs and/or restaurants/cafes. And of course Bridlington and Filey are very near.
If we went back again, we’d ask to go in the overflow tent area, as its compact space meant no caravans, gazebos, groups etc and it looked very tranquil. However, note that it is very shady due to tall trees after abut 2pm.

This is a lovely quiet site in rural Yorkshire.
When we arrived at the site at 2. 30pm the office/shop was closed, there was a notice on the door informing us of our pitch number and to get set up, we then paid when the shop opened at 4. 30pm.
The site is very well maintained with adequate showers and toilets that were very clean. There were no private washrooms for men sadly, although my wife informs me there were for the women.
The shop was stocked with the usual essential supplies. There was a games room which my children appreciated, they weren't very impressed with the playpark as this consisted of just a climbing rope and swing.
Negatives for this site for me, only one, I would have like a private washroom for men and that's all really.

We first found this site when it was newly opened around 1981 and spent many happy holidays there with our children. Now our children are grown up and still love to spend holidays here, albeit it camping instead of in caravan.
I now take my grandchildren and it is lovely to see that the site remains as clean and well kept as always. It is peaceful and safe for children and within easy reach of several seaside resorts, ie. Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough.
The addition of a holiday cottage is wonderful as now when our touring caravan days become too much we can still return to Thorpe Hall.
I was a young mum when we first found this site, now I am an OAP grandma and still go back, what a recommendation is that!
Thorpe Hall is ideal if you value peace and quiet, clean facilities and friendly helpful staff.

We visited this site last minute for a one night stay in a tent with my 5 year olld. We knew we would be late arriving and had contacted the site via email about it and they explained what to etc so very happy there.
As it was we arrived early and we could choose where to pitch and as we didn't need electric chose to be near he playground in the tent field. I think we were the only ones there! Though wouldn't really call it a playground just a wooden climbing frame maybe this is the only thing that could be improved.
Everywhere else stunning lovely well kept toilet block very nice clean inc plenty loo roll soap a hairdryer and a lovely family bathroom too in which you can bath the kids even had a baby bath and bath mat!
All signage is in kind of 50s war time style love it! There is a games/ tv room which was open all the time pool table etc couldn't work out how to turn the tv over though.
We drive into brid for fish and chips not sure if there are any pubs or anything in walking distance.
Cost was £18.50 a night with no electric which isn't peak season although it's is a lovely site I think a bit much. I would and probably will use it again.
We did leave pretty early next day as it chucked it down.

What a fantastic site, we had a week here & it was all enjoyable.
Excellent hosting, very up to speed on all counts. Site was very clean & well maintained.
Amenities block kept warm, plenty of toilet space & 3x shower cubicles(mens).
Well catered for shop items, you must try the pork pies(well good these).
Would definitely return for another visit, our rating gives 100% all round.
Ideally situated for going sightseeing, Brid only 15mins away, Scarborough around 1/2hr, Witby around 1 1/2hrs.
Fishing on site only a 5min walk away, nice dog runs too.
