Another fantastic visit to Ashbrook Camping. We have stayed for the last couple of years and always look forward to returning.
The site is immaculate (you will not find a cleaner toilet and shower block anywhere!), peaceful, in a fantastic location and run by two welcoming owners Denise and Alvin who are always more than happy to take the time to ensure that your stay is an excellent one. They are also always happy to just have a chat.
The site has some seasonal pitches and we found all of those owners very welcoming to. They were all more than happy to take the time for a chat and add to the excellent feel of the campsite.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the site is excellently placed to enjoy the Hay festival.
We will be returning again next year and thoroughly recommend this campsite.

We have just spent a week at Ashbrook. It is ideally placed for visiting the Hay Festival with a 10/15 minute walk across a bridleway to the festival site.
Ashbrook is in a lovely setting, well maintained and with immaculate toilet facilities.
Denice and Alvin, the owners, could not have been more friendly and helpful.
We'll be back next year without a moment's hesitation

Just stayed at Ashbrook for the Hay Festival. It was our third year staying there and we will definitely be staying there again next year. Such a wonderful site and Alvin and Denise work their socks off literally from dawn till dusk to keep everything ship shape. The toilet block is absolutely immaculate and is the best we've ever experienced. We would have no hesitation in recommending this site. It's surrounded by lovely countryside and only a short hop into beautiful Hay on Wye. Thank you to Alvin and Denise for making us feel so welcome year after year. Hope to see you again next year. Ian and Bev (Callaway)

One of the best sites I have stayed on with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Run by Denice and Alvin who are very helpful and friendly. The site is pristine as are the showers and toilets and the pitches are large and spread out. We were there for the Hay Festival and walked into Town every day which took about 20 minutes. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this site.

We arrived here, during the Hay Festival, without a booking as a nearby site we had booked was way too wild for us. The owners were very nice when we explained our situation and after some shuffling fitted us in.
The toilets and showers were scruptiously clean and the site was very well kept.
The location is excellent for the festival and the town was only a little bit further on. Lovely walking country for dogs too.
The site is surrounded by green fields and is next to the road but we didn't find that a problem.
We will definitely go back next year. Thanks so much for helping us out.

We arrived and were met by the owner. The site looked pristine and having been given the rules and regulations for the site we felt quite comfortable. This changed when the owner insisted in putting the water into our tank using an ordinary hose, the end of which she dropped to the floor as she finished. Having made sure we had a food grade hose this was quite distressing.
We were then chaperoned to our pitch and helped to reverse which was OK but we felt a bit distrusted.
We then discovered the shower block which was separate to the toilets and wash basins. In fact the hair dryer was in the toilet block and you had to go outside to move from one to the other. The crowning glory was discovering that the lights in the shower block went off almost as soon as the water in your shower stopped flowing which meant you had to dry and dress yourself in the dark or appear naked!
That and the close proximity to the road means we won't be going again.

Ashbrook is a lovely, well-maintained caravan site located on the Hay-Brecon road just outide the town of Hay-on-Wye itself. It has wide spacious hardstanding for about two dozen caravans, each with ehu and with water taps readily to hand. As well as washing up and laundry points, there is brand new shower and toilet block that is magnificent and palatial (although showers are on a 50p per session meter).
The owners are friendly and obliging and offer to manoeuvre your caravan onto the pitch for you using their little tractor - although I suspect this is also done to help protect the manicured lawns from damage. Indeed, the pitches are centred around a large swathe of lawn upon which there are picnic benches for use when the weather permits.
Hay-on-Wye is five minutes drive away (or twenty minutes walk along a footpath that uses the quieter back lanes to arrive there). There is a Co-op supermarket on the far side of town. There is also a good carvery restaurant at Three Cocks - the Old Barn - which also admits well-behaved dogs.

We have just returned from a one night stay at this fantastic site. We rang on the way down to Hay on Wye to see if they had a vacancy, the lady very helpful on the phone, once we arrived, very friendly, , helping us fill with water and showing us to the pitch. We had a hook up which was fine.
First impression of the site fantastic, very flat, neat and tidy. The toilets and showers, were amazing so clean and shiny, it was quiet site in a lovely position.
We has a nice walk into hay on Wye, 20minite ish, Hay is a quaint town.
We wish we could have stayed longer, we could not fault this site, and will definitely be returning
Thank you ! 😀

First visit to this site, very easy to find, a lovely welcome by Denise the owner who personally took us to our pitch.
A lovely large level Hardstanding pitch. Site is immaculate, toilet block excellent.
The town of Hay on Wye is just an easy 20 minute walk which has a good selection of shops, restaurants, and pubs, many of the pubs were dog friendly.
Will definitely return.
Both Denice and Alvin the owners are very friendly and helpful.

We were greeted at this immaculate site by Denice who filled us up with water, helped us with the best position on the site for our needs and guided us into the pitch. We've never had this type of greeting and attention before and this set the standard for our stay: Alvin and Denice, the owners could not do enough for us - we had booked for three nights and stayed for five.
The site has level hard standing carefully planned to accommodate manoeuvring, it has well-groomed grass areas, water taps and litter bins distributed conveniently throughout along with chemical and grey waste disposal facilities also situated conveniently.
The facilities block is spotlessly clean, warm with piped music in the toilets section - toilets and showers are separate which we agree has a number advantages. The 50p showers are hot with plenty of pressure; remember to count down five minutes!
Hay on Wye is about a mile away and can be accessed on foot with a short walk through a field adjoining the site to meet the B road from Talgarth.
These very sociable and helpful owners have gone the extra mile and a half and created a quiet rural site with many thoughtful extras and people returning regularly has contributed further to a really friendly and cooperative family atmosphere.
We will definitely be returning.
