This is a fantastic site with great facilities and run by a friendly and very helpful couple. Pitches and the standards of the toilet/shower block are immaculate. In addition to the great views you are only a short walk or taxi into the beautiful town of Hay on Wye. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

First week in August - surprisingly quiet during the week, more crowded at the weekend. Excellent location, very clean and very friendly. Short (1 mile) walk into Hay on Wye for bookshops, pubs, cafes, canoeing etc. Lots of opportunities for walking and cycling for the more hardy. Ideal location from which to enjoy the Three Cocks Steam Rally (second Sunday in August).

Firstly Hay on Wye has everything from walking to canoeing to shopping and pubs restaurants etc. ! Not counting of course the literary festival in May each year so if you haven't been there you are missing a gem.

Secondly if you go and are looking for a site LOOK NO FURTHER! This has to be the best site I have ever visited either in the UK or Europe. Not only is it immaculately maintained with grass and hard standing areas, but perfectly flat with more than ample room between plots. Hook-ups abound as well as bins which are emptied at least twice a day dependent on the volume of visitors. As for the shower and toilet block, I am seriously thinking of selling up and moving in! These are perfect with under-floor heating, again cleaned at very short intervals so that you are sure that you are the only ones using them. If there is a downside at all it is that the walk to Hay itself is 1. 8 km although to the festival site less than half that. But after a hearty meal and a pint of the local brew the walk is quite therapeutic. Have already booked to return for the Festival and will be back for walking on Offa's Dyke and the Beacons at any rate later in the year.

We have just returned from a weekend away at Ashbrook. It is one of the cleanest sites we have visited. All washing up equipment supplied and very hot water. Showers, although a 50P charge for 5 mins, were superb power showers with plenty of room and always clean and mopped as were the toilet facilities. The pitches are a large size and well positioned and not overlooked, most have hard standing and grass pitch with hook-ups if required. Lots of care taken to provide perfection. Owners very friendly and very helpful. We walked into Hay-on-wye, worth a visit lovely town, we walked back along the river which was a nicer walk rather than going along the road. Will certainly be returning. Some information on local walking areas would be handy.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at this lovely site.

We received a friendly greeting on arrival and were shown to our pitch where the facilities were pointed out to us. As other reviewers have commented, the toilet block was spotless and remained so throughout our visit. Our only comment would be that the website doesn't make it clear that there is an additional 50p charge for showers. However, having said that, they were hot and powerful and there was plenty of time to have a decent shower without having to constantly push buttons to keep the water flowing so on balance we didn't mind paying.

The potwash area is small but more than adequate and again, kept very clean. The water from the water heater is VERY hot so be careful, but it does mean that you can get even greasy frying pans really clean.

The pitches themselves are level, hard packed and very spacious. It would have been very easy for the owners to have crammed in another 10 or even 15 pitches, but they have chosen to give everyone plenty of room and it gives the site a lovely, laid back feel. The site looks out on some lovely countryside and it would be very easy to while away a hot summers day lazing by your unit!

If you do want to walk into Hay-on-Wye, again as other's have commented, the owners will point out the 'back road' route which is a steady 20 minute walk into town. We weren't at the site long enough to do a decent walk but looking at the OS map, there are plenty to choose from and we will certainly be back for a longer break soon to explore the area properly.

All in all this site is excellent value for money and we would highly recommend it.

Spent a couple of nights here. Pristine site with excellent washroom and showers. Owners are an extremely friendly and helpful couple who take a lot of pride in their site. Large flat pitches on hard ground next to grassy area. Wonderful views. Just a 20minute walk into the pretty little town of Hay on Wye. Highly recommended!

Iv'e stayed at campsites all around the UK as it is part and parcel with my work. I have never felt the need to review as most are disappointing, however Ashbrook campsite take a bow.

Run by the nicest people I've yet to meet. Honest and kind down to a tee. My caravan had no lock all week and no problems.

The scenery is stunning to but it bluntly.

The facilities are cleaner than my home and are cleaned over multiple times during the day.

The grass was greener than Twickenham and the ground keepers there should be weary.

I will be going back personally just to take it all in a little more.

Run by a fabulous couple.

It was a pleasure, I'm must stop this review as I'm starting to drool over my key board just thinking about it again.

We have just had a very enjoyable long weekend at Ashbrook. The site is kept in tiptop condition by the hard work of Alvin and Denice, the toilet and shower block are the best we have seen always clean and tidy and warm with radio laid on too. The site is well laid out hardstandings and grass for the awnings. On arrival Alvin will show you to a pitch, the site has nice views of the hills. A walk at the top of the site over a field will take you along a lane to the main road to Hay which has plenty of pubs/restaurants and a great indian. This site is run by two very friendly and helpful people, who whilst always busy will find time to pass the time of day with you. Wont be long before we visit again

Having visited Hay Festival over the years in our motorhome my wife and I have always bemoaned the fact that we've had to make do without hook up. Imagine our delight that now there was a site with hardstandings and hookup, in easy reach of the festival.

After a warm welcome on our arrival we soon realised that this was a very special site indeed. A quiet site in picturesque surroundings with beautifully laid out roomy pitches, spotless loos and showers among the many on site facilities.

You soon realise that a lot of hard work and dedication has gone into this fabulous site and full marks to Denice and Alvin for what they've achieved here.

We cant wait to get back to Hay on Wye and Ashbrook this year.

Fantastic site! The care and attention shown by the owners is a lesson to all site operators. Facilities cleaned daily? Oh yes but also several times during the day as required. The site was really busy due to Hay Festival yet was always immaculate. Denise and Alvin are lovely people and extremely helpful. They are constantly working around the site to give their customers the best possible stay. Nothing is too much trouble for them and most needs are anticipated and met without asking. Had an issue with my tyre pressures but Alvin was on hand with his airline to get things sorted. Have stayed elsewhere in previous years and wish we had found this site earlier. Highly recommended
