Once again this site has not failed us. They have got new wardens who are really nice and helpful the site is always clean and tidy, shower blocks are very clean. This must be our 7th or 8th visit and this place just gets better.
As for the kids well we hardly see them only when they are hungry, the kids entertainment on a night is great. Its close to the re vamped Filey town and beach and a few miles to Scarborough town. The little shop on site is always well stocked but slight over priced.
Not tried the on site chip shop yet just hope that has got better too. Even though this is a commercial site that has everything there is seldom chav familys here and that makes it even better.
Considering it is in high season and the site is very busy come 10pm its nice and quiet. This is a family site and we will be returning here again and again.

Having just spent 4 nights here I can honestly say this is the worst site I have ever been to.
We are a camping couple with 30 years experience between us.
Bad points.
1. The pitches are cramped- next door door's vehicle 1 ft away- they like you tent car tent car so beware if going with friends as you will not be able to camp next to them.
2. Noisy neighbours kept us up until 3.30am and 1.30 am. Might be an idea if the warden walked round the camp area to hear the racket at night.
Good points.
1. The shop on site was very cheap and the staff are lovely and very helpful.
2.The showers are plenty as are loo's. If 1 block is being cleaned there are others to use.
Overall too cramped we felt like a sardine.

This was our first time camping with our family (two adults and two children aged 3 and 13). We picked this site as we thought it would ease us into camping as there were very good on site facilities.
The Great Things
1. The shower blocks were clean, well stocked with toilet paper and there were plenty of them. The water was hot, plentiful and we didn't have to queue. The block wasn't much of a walk during the day time, but seemed a little longer at night
2. The playground was great for our 3 year old who loved it and enjoyed the big blue slide
3. The on site shop was good, we only went there on the first day to pick up a few things we had left behind. It was a little bit pricey but OK if you only wanted a few things
4. The pitch we were given was OK, but our neighbours were quite close. However it was busy, so perhaps in low season you have more room
5. We went to the bar complex on the Saturday evening to see the magician and let our youngest dance around. She had a lovely time, it was all a bit cheesy, but it was good natured fun and gave us adults a chance to have a relax and watch our little one enjoying herself. Our elder girl, was happy to sit with us and also pop off to the penny amusements every now and again to spend her 2ps.
Not so great things
There is supposed to be a curfew at 11am and most people stuck to it, except the tent next to us, who were up and partying till 3am. I reported this to office the next day, and the following night they were much more subdued. Not sure if someone had spoken to them, or that they had partied themselves out the previous evening.
All in all we had a good time, I think that a site like this is good if you have never been camping before. There is the option of entertainment if you want it, or you can just sit and enjoy the outside if you like as well.
We would return, but I think that we might go just out of season as it might be a bit quieter. For our next trip we are going to try a smaller campsite with fewer amenities just to see how it compares

Pitches were ample and surrounded by trees with water points and waste situated at regular intervals amongst the camp. There was no noise from the playpark as the area is quite large and the trees helped to separate us. We did spend lots of time in the excellent playpark though, it is very well thought out and full of exciting equipment to keep a wide age range of children amused.
The toilet blocks were always clean with plenty of hot water. They were never too busy despite the campsite being busy so no queues in the morning for a shower. There are sockets in a room in the toilet block so you could take your own hairdryer. There were no hairdryers to use in there if you didn't bring your own.
We took our 3 year old to the bar in the evening and she loved the children's` entertainment (a disco one night and a clown the next). There is an adults only bar upstairs if you do not have children. There is an excellent stocked shop on site along with a cafe. The swimming pool is really nice, they have splash sessions where children can use all the supplied inflatables. It only cost £2.50 per adult to swim and £1.50 per child which was reasonable.Upstairs from the swimming pool was a bowling alley, table tennis and pool tables. There was a teenagers chillout room, basket ball court, skatepark and large grassy field for ball games.
I could not praise this campsite enough. They have thought about all ages of guests and provide facilities for everyone. The site was secure with friendly wardens going round at night on golf buggies. Although the site is quite large, it still has the family run feel about it.
Playdale Farm park is 6 miles from the campsite and well worth a visit. You could spend the whole day there. There are lots of animals and lots of play equipment. Better suited to the under 10s.

On arrival we were escorted by warden in a golf buggy to our pitch, (pay at reception for your electric token) and you need £10 for barrier card which is returned on leaving, electric cost us two quid for two nights.
Staff very helpful, toilets and showers best we have used up to now, always clean and tidy. Pitch size good, plenty of water points and bins, washing up facilities, small amusement arcade for kids, good sized pool (indoor), well stocked mini market, gas bottles refills available, fresh bread and pies in a morning yummy, ten pin bowling above pool area, large pub with family room and adult only room too, good ales on tap.
Apart from one or two couples getting a bit loud with the music, would recommend this park 8 out of 10, we will return. Reception will give cash back if you buy something from counter for a £1.

This is our favourite site and it has something for everyone. The kids love the play area, separate fenced off area for younger children so they can play safely and lots of space alongside for ball games etc.
Flower of May is about a 15 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Scarborough or 5 minutes from quieter Filey. The paddock for tents is nicely sheltered unlike some of the nearby sites where you are pitched on a cliff top and open to the elements. On booking in you are taken to your pitch by the warden, if you are camping in a group check in together so you can be sited together.
The on-site facilities we just can't fault, toilets and showers are cleaned regularly with plenty of free hot water in the showers. In the ladies shower block closest to the paddock there is a mirrored room with sockets so you can take a hairdryer etc. as well as the showers there are also individual dressing cubicles and for families with younger children there are a few family rooms with shower, toilet and hand basins. The washing up room is indoors again with free hot water there is also a baby change room.
The on site shop is well stocked and reasonably priced, a Morrison's is about a 10 minute drive away at Eastfield and Filey has lots of small shops as well as a few supermarkets. The cafe on the site is open daily and the chip shop is well worth a visit and can highly recommend it.
The children enjoy the fun sessions in the pool, although you do pay extra for this, and there is also a small amusement arcade with bowling etc. There is also a club house with cheesy entertainment and an adults only bar upstairs. Last year they added a chillout room for teenagers where they could go watch a film or just have their own space.
The thing that I love about this place is the view you get of the Wolds, nothing better than sitting with an early morning cuppa watching the site wake up ah bliss.
I think what makes this site too is the security barriers, you pay a refundable deposit of £10 for your card and somehow that makes you feel safer.
The site is very well cared for and wardens patrol regularly but we have never had any bad experiences on here and try to go as often as we can, in fact off tomorrow for the weekend.

We first stumbled across this site in august 2008 after always holidaying at Primrose Valley (a little further down the coast).
We LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this site.
Your pitched in a block with aprox 10 other caravans and weve never had a bad experience. The pitches are hard standing with your awning on stones and rocks so sleeping in the awning is not advised.
The site entertainment hasnt changed in 2 years -still with the silly magician, and dave marshall the d.J and the oscar club girls doing party dances and disco.
But the kids love it and it gives us parents a bit of peace ha-ha. The on-site chippy is delicious and very reasonable, we liked it that much we've booked again for next aug2010 and cant wait.

I loved our stay here. There are all the facilities one would expect from a holiday site of this type and size. All clean and well kept throughout. No free for all as on booking you are allocated a specific pitch. However we weren't happy to be placed under trees but it was no problem. We got another pitch that was just great. The electric hook up makes a difference and there are plenty of these.
On site play area that the kids thought was 'pretty cool' and a club and small chippy on site too.
The location is wonderful as it is nicely sheltered but 5 minutes walk and you are on the cliffs. There is no beach but from there you can go to either Filey or Scarborough with very good beaches.
Highly recommend.

This is without doubt a beautiful site with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The only problem is the size of the pitches they give you.
Even though the tent field is big, they only let you have pitch size 5mx5m and just enough space for a car. Your neighbouring tent is right on top of you. We had an average sized family tent (Vango Orchy 500) when we visited last year and it just about fitted in the allocated pitch.
We still enjoyed staying on the site and the toilets/showers are immaculate.
We now have a slightly bigger tent and know it will be too big for the pitch they provide. It's still not a massive tent but it is 5.8m long so there is no way it will fit on their small pitches which is a shame because it is a lovely site.
The town close by is a good night out too but the taxi's are a bit on the expensive side considering the short distance they have to drive to get you there and back. The pubs in town are good and quite busy, we really enjoyed it there.
Going to the beach was a good day out too with lots of things for the children, i.e donkeys, amusements and boat rides.
Overall we really enjoyed our weekend here.

I've just got back from a 6 day holiday in Filey.
We stayed at the Flower Of May and overall had a nice stay
Firstly, we got placed on a really small patch with rocks and stones everywhere, which is where we had to put the awning and three people had to sleep on the hard rocks, which caused two airbeds too burst.
Then after paying £33 a night, we were greeted with electricity cards which cost us £15 for 6 days.
The entertainment was run my two teenagers who don't know what they're doing, all kiddies disco all night, then last hour music is played, no sort of entertainment at all.
Played pool, have to put a £5 deposit down, bar staff lost our deposit and we had a half an hour argument with them to get the £5 back, so do get a receipt for your deposit !
Shop, chip-shop very good, sells all the basics, chippy open until half 11 which was good.
Pub shuts at 11. :|
Swimming pool was alright, £2.50 charge to enter though.
Nice site, ruined a bit by teenagers.
Filey itself was lovely, so many places to visit, heartbeat country, robin hoods bay, Scarborough, Filey, Flamingo land is excellent definitely recommend it. :) Bridlington beach was lovely. :) dogs are allowed on that beach also.
One night we actually went to the pub on next doors campsite, which was a lot better however very small. Ended up going to scarbrough at night because pub was so bad, although great speed boat ride in scarbrough only £2. Recommended. :)
