Just spent a full week, must be our fifth or sixth time now at this site. Warden showed us to our pitch and if you are lucky like us you can choose you're pitch. PLenty of room for our Vermont M and side canopy plus loads of space in front of the tent.
Toilets and showers were always spotless, water very warm, pity this gets spoilt by people who like to write their names on the doors without pens.
All in all a great site with excellent facilities, but be prepared to pay extra for electric, other sites give it for free.
And a final word to the dog owners, clean up after your dog, take it to the designated area to do the business not directly outside people' tents, personally I think they should be banned from campsites.

We asked to be put on the triangle - as two units on and all 3 electric pitches were empty, told for disabled only, these electric pitches were empty for 8 of our 10 nights and in that time only 1 disabled person was placed on here and did not require electric !
We were placed in the paddock, many of the pitches were packed so tight as some could not park cars safely at the side
We had friends up from outside of london on the Thursday for a long weekend, a tent arrived around 9pm and kept all awake until after 2am with a young child running 'wild' and older children/teens creating a fire on the grass throwing aerosol cannisters on the fire !
Wardens appeared next day and appeared to remove them from the site - damage already done.
Office site not too friendly, though wardens did keep site sorted after the Thursday night problem.
Last moan - the triangle toilets were not up to the same standard as the others, found plugs in sinks with water left running on numerous visits, yes not the sites problem, but if you just want money and accept certain types then damage will result - costing more in the long term!
To end on a positive note, the kids had a great time we even managed to get some decent weather, shop is very good, excellent dog walk, site is very clean and Magic Mike is still keeping the kids happy (though they enjoyed him more when on his own). Splash Fun sessions are good fun but were on 1 occasion too full and certain adults were in danger of risking younger children's safety.

This could be a lovely site, however I feel the staff let it down.
The site has a lovely park area, the best I have seen yet but we experienced quite a few teenagers spoiling this with there foul language and gathering in intimidating groups which I feel should be monitored really.
The top end of the park is definitely the nicest area but I think this is kept for the longer tourers as there is much more space.
There is a supermarket which stocks everything you need although there is a Morrisons just a short drive away.
We took our little cocker spaniel dog which they charge you to take, however there wasn't a single place that you could tie them up if you wanted to pop into the leisure centre or shop which I found very odd. I did ask where I should tie her and the man in the leisure centre told me to tie her to a freestanding flimsy bike rack which she would have pulled on top of her. Not very helpful at all. The night time kids disco was run by a couple of unenthusiastic teenagers which had no initiative at all but there was a magician who put on a good show a bit later on in the night.

This campsite resembled a refugee camp during the two weekends of our week stay. No room for kids to play in front of tent. Much too close to our neighbours. Very noisy but did quieten down at about 11.
We had booked 2 months in advance but were given the worst pitch on sharp stone! We had no choice but to set up but as our tent was in danger of getting holes in we moved the next day to a better pitch - what a nightmare and not what you want to be doing on a glorious bank holiday Monday.
Showers/toilet block - lights never came on when it was dusk, door locks not working, showers not working, not enough sanitary bins.
Washing up facilities - 4 sinks great 2 plugs - not so great.
Positives - the children's playground is fab and great for any age. The pub at the bottom of the road The Plough is lovely. Onsite entertainment ok. Pool nice. Fish and chip shop and cafe were really good. Shop the best we have seen with fresh croissants and pies/pasties and roasted chickens.
Location of the campsite is the best thing about it as only 10 mins from the marvellous Filey. Electricity - a £5 token lasted us a week so don't worry about it.

We booked for the bank holiday weekend. The camp was very busy. Unfortunately we were pitched next to a group of four tourers who had no respect for other campers. They partied well into the night while their children were running riot !For two nights running the wardens came and told them to keep the noise down, I can only summize that they had been told to leave if they continued as things improved dramatically from then on. A big thank you to the wardens!
We had fantastic weather while we were there so all things considered we had a lovely time. The camp is of a very good standard if a little pricey. You have to pay for your electric via a card, however when you go and book in at the reception don't buy your card until you've pitched because sometimes there is still credit and you cant get a refund if you buy a card.
I would return again perhaps not on a bank holiday maybe when it's not as busy.

Have been to this site several times in the past - and yes, its good, BUT they are in serious danger of pricing themselves out of the tourer market - the extra tenner for electricity is just the last straw - its good , but not that good ! We have also recently visited the newly refurbed Haven site at Reighton and found it to be every bit as good as the Flower of May , with free electric and good sized pitchese.

Stayed here over bank holiday weekend in a tent with no electric, enjoyed it so much stayed an extra night. First time at this site and it was fantastic, although the pitches are quite small there is no room to play any games by the tent the park is only yards away from the tent field. Football matches and cricket were constantly played all day long and our 2 boys 10 and 9 had a fantastic time. Toilets and showers were fine didn't have to queue although the park seem to be full to capacity. All the staff were very friendly, the chip shop did fantastic food, the small shop sold fresh bread which was delicious. A short journey to Filey (2 miles) or Scarborough (4 miles) where you can enjoy the lovely beaches. A Morrisons is about 5 mins drive away through Cayton if you want more of a choice. Would definitely return to this site which has got to be one of the cleanest, friendly, well run sites we have visited.

We have just returned from a 3 night bank holiday break at the Flower of May and what a wonderful break it was too. It was our first time at this site and will definitely not be our last, in fact, we are hoping to book another visit in the next month or two.
There was plenty to do for the children and in fact both our boys commented that they loved the site and its facilities. There is an excellent play area for the children, which was exceptionally clean, a swimming pool on site, a small arcade, a spacious family bar with entertainment every evening. There is also an Adult only bar.
There is an area for dog walking and a coastal walk to the nearby beach which has a surf shop.
The pitches were close to all amenities, and there were several toilet/shower blocks spread around the site. The showers were nice, clean, spacious, warm and free!.
The electricity on site is metered, however, it is cheap. We only used £6.00 for the 3 nights and we used the electricity as we normally would.
The site was exceptionally clean, we not only saw the staff but also the wardens picking up any odd litter. We found the wardens were extremely friendly too.

What a wonderful camping site. This is one of the best camp sites we have visited, the pitches are well spaced out (although the number of tent pitches seems significantly reduced to enable more room for tourers), flat and clean.
The playground is very large and well kept with lots of variety to keep the kids entertained, bars are very nice and clean and the entertainment good.
Toilets and showers are clean and warm as always, and its good to have reasonably priced shop, cafe and chip shop on site.
On the whole a very much loved holiday destination for our family. However, I would like to mention the fact that on top of the pitch price we also had to pay for an electric meter card, this proved to be rather expensive and a little bit off putting when thinking about booking for the future as it cost us £5 per night to keep the tent warm for our children.

Have visited this site many times over the past 5 years and in our opinion it is well above average. The kids playground is always safe and clean. The entertainment for children is always enjoyable, having said that, we visited last weekend (24/04/09) and in addition to the magician entertainer (who is excellent), there were 2 other girls on stage apparently trying to entertain. The toilets and showers are always of the highest standard as are the tent pitches, there seem to be fewer of these than when we previously visited, caravans seem to be taking over tents for some reason. Another bug bear was having to pay for electric by card. We paid £18.00 per night plus £10.00 extra for electric, I don't think this is a good idea at all and will put many people off returning.
