If you want to get away from it all and have some quiet time this is the place. It really is in the forest with pitches for units on terraces going up higher through the site. The pitches themselves were a bit rough, just hardcore not slabs or concrete and some a bit small for big units like ours (7. 5m. But no real problems.
The river bounds one side of the site and the forest is all around. Endless walks and cycle routes so take an OS map if you want to go exploring. Aberfoyle is about 2 miles walk through the woods and takes 45-60 mins or else an 8 min cycle on a road bike down the national cycle route bordering the A81.
The facilities are adequate with a separate shower block with 4 units. It wasn't busy so no problems but I could imagine that at peak times there could be queues. And the dreaded 10 second push button showers !
Remember you are in the forest and there will be lots of insects, mainly of the flying variety. So keep the nets closed especially at night and take a flyspray.

Stayed for a couple of nights over a weekend. Excellent welcome by wardens who were friendly and accommodating. This is a busy site and when we were staying there were a lot of kids. However, they were all well behaved and didn't cause any problems. The only 'issue' was that most of them were staying in tents, so when the sun came up in the morning - so did they - at 600am! Not complaining though. Just be aware as tents are mixed with tourers and motorhomes in the short stay area.
The site is in a great area for walking biking and other outdoor type of stuff. Good food in Aberfoyle and not too expensive either. I would recommend the Forth Inn.
When my new grand daughter is old enough it will be great place to take her.

Just back from a last minute weekend stay here. Site was busy with loads of kids playing. Staff helpful and toilets/showers very clean. Cracking walks in the area and not enough time to do them all. Will definitely be back to do more later in the year. Cracking site especially for dog walkers. Dog walk straight out of the site and a nice walk of about 1. 5mls into Aberfoyle. That was our first visit here but won't be the last.

Stayed just for one night but had booked for two. Site was really busy although the facilities coped.
Site is in a lovely spot about 45 mins walk from Aberfoyle. The walk to aberfoyle along the river is definitely something to do whilst you are there.
Warm welcome from the owners who gave very clear information on where to pitch. As mentioned the site was very busy due to the warm weather weekend. Pitch was spacious.
Toilets and showers clean with plenty of hot water.
Midges were really problematic from 9pm through to the small hours. Unbearable to be outside or have the doors of the tent open. The setting contributes to this (trees, vegetation and river) combined with time of year and perfect windless weather conditions. If you do visit consider bringing everything you can to keep them at bay because it could spoil your visit.
Would return early Spring or early autumn. The setting is beautiful, the facilities good, and the town of aberfoyle has enough to do in to pass time. Lots of attractions within 30 minutes drive (lochs, safari park, Stirling castle).

We camped with friends on a wet & dreary May weekend. The campsite wasn't full, but there were a few others camping. First impressions - it's a lovely site - neat, tidy & ongoing work to keep it nice & make it better ongoing without taking away from the enjoyment of the site. The staff are very friendly & helpful. There's a small children's play area although our wee one was too small to enjoy it he was drawn to it. The toilets & shower facilities were good - no payment required for a hot shower! Dish washing facilities were good too! The village of Gartmore is a mile away, although it takes a bit to walk there as its all uphill - it's an easy walk back! We would definitely camp there again!

Just got back from our first trip to this wonderful site and we can't wait to go back!
All pitches are clearly marked out, the facilities were spotlessly clean every day and even when the site got busy we still didn't have to queue for showers. We walked every day along a different path (although the river walk is a fave) and all the walks are great for dogs. Weather was lovely all week and we didn't have any problems with midges. Staff were great especially the one who gave us a loan of the fishing equip!)
Highly recommend the walk to Aberfoyle-go along the cycle track which starts just outside the site (over the bridge) it used to be a railway line. Come back to the site along the same track but this time take a right hand turn (at the Rob Roy Hotel) across a field and over a bridge - beautiful views and we got to see Red Kites flying overhead!

We stayed at Cobleland campsite during the horrendously wet weather during July. Despite the abysmal weather we had a fantastic holiday. The campsite is beautiful. We stayed in a tent on the bank of the river which was very swollen, other campers who regularly use the site said they had never seen it so high.
I have to say how impressed we were with the wardens. Despite the fact that everything was so muddy they kept the toilets, showers and laundry area immaculate. They had six showers, nice and clean with plenty of hot water. The only downside with the showers is there isn't a family shower. There are three sinks with draining boards under a shelter for dish washing, again very clean and plenty of hot water.
The best part of the campsite is that it really promotes nature and wildlife for the children. My three had a fantastic time playing in the park and looking at the bug hotel and nest boxes. There are also plenty of walks through the surrounding forest that a clearly marked and easy to follow.
The village of Aberfoyle is 5 minutes away by car or 20 minute walk on the cycle path. There is a co op in Aberfoyle and we also discovered that the Forth Inn in Aberfoyle serves excellent food and allows dogs in the bar area.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and it was great, trip was during the diamond jubilee weekend so site was full. Little disappointed that neighbouring tent was closer to us than should have been (tents should be at least 3 metres apart, this one was about 1. 5 metres away).
Lesley and Graham who manage the site were excellent, showed us to our site and were very friendly.
Lovely walks around the site, midges were a bit of a problem but that not unusual in a lot of areas in Scotland.
Toilet/showers were excellent, always clean and tidy. They could do with a couple of more sinks for washing the dishes as we had to queue a few times.
No trouble with late night noise, site was quiet by 11.
The younger kids had great fun playing in the trees round the site and at the play park on site.
Would definitely return.

Visited this site at the start of the bank holiday for 3 nights. When we arrived we were given a warm welcome by the staff and they were very helpful. We were told that ever pitch was booked so we knew that it was going to get busy.
As we arrived on the Thursday night, it was still relatively quiet and had a choice of pitches. A beautiful spot right beside the river where all the non ehu were. All the ehu pitches are in the middle of the site.
It is a beautiful site, set in stunning woodland. Be prepared for the midges though. They were horrendous on the first night because it was damp and no wind, but the following nights the weather was on our side lovely sunshine and a slight breeze which meant they didn't bother us too much after that.
Showers/toilets were cleaned regularly and were very good.
There is a play park which was well used by the kids on the site, as was the paths around it but I would say that the down side was there was nowhere else for them to play football other than on the road around the pitches or close to the tents, which wasn't great.
Was able to re-freeze ice packs for a charge of 25p each. Bbq's are allowed, but have to use with a stand which you can borrow from the reception for a £5 deposit.
Lots of things to do in the surrounding area. Ideal for bikes and walking. Also a few places within easy reach by car, like Callander, Loch Katrine and the David Marshall Lodge at Aberfoyle.
My only downside was that it felt too busy by the end of the weekend with all pitches taken. We would go back to the site as it was a beautiful place, with great staff but just not on a bank holiday.

What a great site!
We had a great pitch beside the river, which the kids loved. They paddled and messed around with wee nets. The playground was very good too.
We didn't go for EHU, but here were plenty of pitches with hook-up available.
The showers are free (!) and there was plenty hot water. The toilets are clean and well maintained.
Although the site was very busy, we had no problems at night - the staff gave us their number to phone if there was any hassle after 11.
The location is excellent - there are plenty of options for cycling and walking into Gartmore/ Aberfoyle.
Our only slight issue on the site was the lack of space for ball games, but that's not unusual.
Remember to book before you go - I understand it's often busy. You will need to pay when you book, which can be a bit off-puting for the casual visitor.
Overall - very good. We'll definitely be back.
