What a great site! Staff are helpful and more importantly, very friendly!
Toilets are spot on, clean and well looked after!
Staff are falling over themselves to be of help!
We had a pitch in our caravan right by the river.
Brilliant for kids as they can play in the river's gravel beds. We lit a fire and fried some sausages! Dog's can run and go in the water just off the site.
The Black Bull in Gartmore had very good food and a good selection of whiskies (shuttle bus available)
Thanks for a great Easter weekend guys

What a little gem Cobleland is. Set over three tiers, the site sits right on the river bank and has a feeling of spaciousness. A large selection of campers on site in tents / caravans / campervans and bigger RV's but still plenty of space.
The on site toilets & showers were spotless and accessed by a unique pass code given to you on arrival. Water points are close to most pitches and electric hook up is 16amps throughout the site. The playground was well put together and seemed to entertain the children on site very well.
There are so many thing's to do in the area we couldn't fit it all into our ten day stay. If using your sat-nav stay well clear of the local village as it is very tight and follow on about an extra mile for a better entrance into the site.
The access road onto the second tier is at the end of the site and whilst we were on this tier, observed several vehicle's ( caravan's / motorhomes alike ) struggle to negotiate the narrow & steep dirt road that feeds this level.
Overall a great stay and would use again if but on the lower levels by the river bank.

First time camping experience!
We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 3yr old son, and a 9yr old daughter), and have just returned from a 3 night break in our Outwell Hartford XXL tent at this site.
We were very apprehensive about camping as we certainly didn't want karaoke, bingo etc on site! This site was just idyllic!
We booked a 'jumbo pitch' as our tent is so large and at booking we were told that there weren't any electrical hook-up pitches left, however when we arrived we were allocated a pitch next to an electrical hook-up source (lesson learned to take our power cables in future!).
Although we were given the impression that we could pitch anywhere, when we arrived we were allocated a pitch opposite the playground (usually where the caravans are sited - possibly because we hade a large tent).
The playpark is adequate for kids - wooden equipment and well maintained - the ranger was even raking the bark underneath while we were there. Being situated opposite the park was fantastic with a toddler through the day as he could play with his sister while we relaxed outside our tent.
One downside was in the evening the older children seemed to congregate there and were quite noisy until about 9/9:30pm when we were trying to get our toddler to sleep. (The whole site has a stipulated quiet at 11pm).
Behind the play park is a small woodland area that the older kids enjoyed playing in too.
The showers: I think there were about 6, plus a disabled one, although I don't think there was a family one. They were individual with a lock on and were clean with lots of hot water (free) and served the purpose. The toilet block was also very clean with plenty of sinks and a hairdryer. There was also a laundry, although we didn't use it.
The pan washing area: outside covered sinks x3 with plenty of very hot water and again very clean.
At the top end (of the lower tear) of the campsite there is a lovely 5 minute walk through woodland to a clearing by the river where there is a picnic bench situated overlooking the river. You can easily step down to a pebbled area beside a shallow area of the river where the kids caught minnows in their buckets and my husband caught a brown trout (approx 1/4 lb in size!).
Children were swimming in there, and others had an infatable canoe. You could happily take chairs/pic-nic blanket and a pic-nic and stay there for hours.
The site office/shop stocked milk, eggs fom the guy who lives over the road, bread rolls and also froze ice packs for a 50p charge. They stock essentials such as matches, tent pegs, batteries, insect repellent (despite being well armed, we didn't have any problems with midges). They provide (for I think it was £2) a treasure hunt map for the kids or a scavenger hunt, and hire out bat hunting equipment for £5.
There are walks a couple of times a week with a local who tells you all about the local wildlife and survival type stuff for a charge too.
There was a lot of emphasis put on activities with the rangers on the Forest holidays website which we thought would be good for our kids, but we didn't see them doing anything other than maintenance work.
Overall we would definitely recommend this site - so many people we spoke to have returned time and time again. Certainly a great first camping experience!

'Comfrey' in the previous review is spot on with the description of the site and facilities - we visited with a 9, 10 and 16 year old and there was plenty to keep everyone happy.
The site was relatively noise free after about 11. 30pm and the facilities were always extremely clean. The staff were extremely helpful and although the reception/shop kept fairly reduced hours, staff were always on hand around the site.
Aberfoyle is just under 2 miles away with a tarmac cycle/path which runs from the campsite all the way into the village. The path is flat and totally separated from the road by a hedge so is ideal for walking/cycling with children.
The kids also got to go fishing and there are loads of paths in the trees near the play area so it meant they could play without annoying other campers!
Some of the pitches (including ours) got rather waterlogged in the heavy rain and as we were staying for a week, the staff had no problem in letting us move our tent to prevent us creating a mud bath underneath it.
The pitches were a bit tight for large family size tents which meant that there was little leeway on how the tent could be placed, but this is something else the staff said they would be looking at for next year.
Also, (and I know it's a minor thing) the site is advertised as selling milk and bread at the reception, but milk was gone first thing in the morning and I don't think they sold bread. Not a huge issue but over the week, it meant an almost daily drive or walk into Aberfoyle for fresh supplies!
After a week at the site we didn't want to leave as we still felt there was loads more exploring to do! We have already vowed to come back again and would happily recommend it to anyone.

First time camping with my twins aged 5 we took advantage of the fact it was less than an hours drive away-if there were problems we could just pack up and go home.
Good advise given on a suitable non waterlogged pitch next to the playpark (It had been raining heavily for the past few days) Toilets and showers very clean and washing up area was well set out.
Close to Aberfoyle there seems to be a tie up with a local hotel, where they will pick-up and drop off if you eat/drink there Noise was at a minimum after the 10:30 gate closure.
Although we have nothing to campare it to, it was everything we wanted for our first trip away.

Excellant campsite. Very well maintained. The toilets, showers, washing facilities are all very clean, bright and cheerful. The pitches are well spaced out and there is a good choice available - both with and without electric hook up.
The staff were very pleasant and regularly patrolled the site picking up litter. Previous reviews indicated a lot of crossing over pitches - this can be avoided by pitching along the river bank. I didn't see a lot of evidence of people crossing close to others tents.
The shop is small and carries some minor items. Fresh produce such as milk etc need to be purchased in Aberfoyle where there is a Co-op open until 10pm.
A nice touch is the offering of free herbs to pick for your cooking. The location of the site is difficult to fault. You can go extensive walks straight from the site or cycling.
More activities are to be found at David Marshall Lodge, just a short drive away, with forest walks and Go-Ape tree walking, zip wires etc; Loch Ard, not much further away offers more walks and canoing possibilities.
A visit to the Wee Blether tearoom at Kinlochard is a must. There is no pub or entertainment on the site and this suits me fine. There is a plea to keep the noise down at around 11pm I didn't notice any abuse of this.
The only thing to watch is the camp site barrier is locked at 10. 30pm so late night trips in the car wont get back in. The nearest pub is in Gartmore and its nearly all an uphill walk to get there - we didn't go so cant comment.
Will definitely return to this site

We spent a long weekend on this site and have absolutely no complaints regarding the camping side of things. A better play area for kids would have been appreciated.
One slight gripe was that because tents and caravans are in the same pitching area we had to put up with a rather ignorant caravanner next to us. He erected a satellite dish stand on our pitch area, in the process moving our kids toys out the way with no regard to whether they got broken or not.
Needless to say we moved his dish back into his area. I am glad to say this is the only grief we have had with caravans or motor homes - most folk are very pleasant.
We will probably re-visit this site again.

This is quite simply one of the best campsites we have ever been too. We have a 5 yrar old and this area / site has endless hours of things to do which don't hurt the pocket.
The site itself is very well laid out over 3 tiers, the lower tier next to the river mainly grass pitches with a few hard standings. Combination of grass with or without electric. Tier 2 is mainly seasonal pitches, these are all tourers / motorhomes on hard standings. Tier 3 is hardstandings without electric and right in the heart of the forest.
Playpark is excellent swings, climbing net, monkey bars etc. Childs treasure hunt around park, river with free fishing within site boundary. Plenty of water areas for bathing / paddling or even swimming.
Very peaceful and relaxing site, toilets immaculate and plentiful (think they are cleaned approx 4 times daily). As other reviews mentioned there are 4 showers which are separate (directly next to toilet block), this did sometimes get busy but lets remember your on holiday at a caravan and camping site not a hotel.
Sufficient pot wash facilities (3 sinks), Laundry room with Washing Machine, Tumble Drier, Free to use Iron / Ironing Board and a further 3 sinks for clothes washing. Next to the laundry room thee is a rotary drier (whirleegig) with pegs on it too.
Chemical toilet disposal well hidden in the trees, which I thinks good so you can't see or smell anything, there are also plenty of water taps on site.
Small shop on site is very basic but has essentials like spare gas (all different types including calor gas), tent pegs, midge spray, juice, DVD and Game hire. They even freeze ice blocks and hire them out with an additional camera / mobile phone charging service for a small fee. There is even a fish van comes to the site once a week approx 1730hrs, I think this was on the Thursday. Local shops in Aberfoyle only 5 mins drive away with a Co-op, Spar, butchers, tearoom, small amusements not too mention all the other small local shops.
The surrounding area here is just out of this world, you are based in the centre of the Queen Elizabeth Forest which hosts things like the David Marshall Lodge, Achray Forest Drive, Loch Katrine paddle steamer, Go Ape (high wires though forest) and multiple walks / fishing areas.
The staff on this site will bend over backwards to help and very friendly. We are going back very soon! A must for any family!

Really good situation for a camp-just a mile walk into Aberfoyle with shops and restaurants, also a Co-Op. Lots to do in the area. Loads of lovely walks. We took the bikes and it was a lovely safe ride into Aberfoyle.
This camp site had the cleanest facilities of any site I have ever been to-the toilets, washing up area etc were always immaculate and shiny-the staff check them many times a day.
It was a real treat to use them. They were still lovely even when the weather was dreadful
I would definitely revisit this site.

Camped there for three nights.
Really nice campsite with a friendly welcome.
Very clean and well maintained camping area.
The toilet and cleaning facilities were very clean and it was noticed that they were attended to throughout the day. Always appeared clean when needed. Good and clearly defined areas for different activities of the campsite, such as dish washing, toilets, water, rubbish areas.
The view from our pitch over the river was beautiful the surroundings of the campsite were exceptional.
Possibly could improve the potholes on the track inside the site, but if you stick to the 5 MPH limit these arent a problem.
Really nice forest walk from the camp site and also lovely walk into Aberfoyle. The site is next to some lovely walks around Aberfoyle. And the location is a really nice base for exploring The Trossachs by car. Seemed to be some nice cycling routes, but with not having a bike, and the site doesn't rent bikes, I cant comment.
Really good campsite and I would recommend it.
