Lets start with the positives, fantastic location close to forest walks and terrific scenery. Clean and well maintained showers and toilets with good washing-up area. Staff well mannered and easily recognised.
However would not recommend if looking for a quite and peaceful break, the site was busy but not full and extremely noisy into the night long past the 11pm curfew.
Unfortunately our pitch no (16) was a shortcut to the toilet block with a steady flow of 'campers' wandering over and through our guy ropes at all times of day and night. Perhaps a few less pitches and more space would help alleviate the problem.
Unlikely to be on our visit-again list.

This was a lovely site with a river running down one side - there are glades up the hill for motor homes and caravans but we had a tent this time and camped by the river.
Loos - adequate and warm (but up a hill)
Showers - separate to the loos - not enough as usual and with plastic curtains (pet hate) - showers nice and hot and again, a heater in each cubicle
Pot washing - only 3 sinks so had to queue and there wasn't that many people there.
Wardens always busy with site maintenance and very helpful - we had torrential rain and the lady booked us a courtesy car from the local pub, The Black Bull, where we had a nice meal.
Loads to do in area - lovely walks straight from the site - saw a tawny owl and a red squirrel
Will come back for definite

Have just returned from a 5 night night stay at Cobleland, this was our 3rd time at this campsite and still remains by far our favourite site to date.
Small, friendly and quiet, excellent facilities, hot showers, toilet block never anything short of immaculate, a credit to Graham and Lesley.
Site was quiet this time round but have been during the summer over a bank holiday when it was busy and still maintains the same standard. No noise after 10.30pm, which we have found is strictly adhered to, wardens are always happy to help and full of knowledge about the local area.
We booked online this time around and were delighted to see that our 'favourite' pitch had been reserved for us without even having to ask! Lovely forest walks and bike trails for all abilities, a short walk or cycle along a picturesque cycle path to Aberfoyle.
Basics can be bought at the on site shop, milk, rolls, sausages, bacon, camping essentials such as gas and tent pegs, plus a dvd library at £1 per night, 2nd hand books, freezer facilities and mobile charging for a small charity donation.
Aberfoyle has a small Co-op and Butcher, Tearoom, gift shops etc. A small children's play park on site which is basic but amused our 7 and 5 year olds. Highly recommend this site if you are after a quiet, small campsite then look no further. Can't wait for our next trip to Cobleland.

Found this site great. First time campers, we were a bit worried, however we had nothing to worry about. Site was lovely; showers & toilets very clean with plenty hot water.
We played all day in the water with the children, fishing for minnows, did a treasure hunt and played in the children’s play area.
We visited Aberfoyle and had lunch at a local pub. The whole area was beautiful and everyone very friendly. The staff were always helpful and pleasant. Really couldn't fault the place.
I intend to go back in August to use it as a base for fishing locally.

We have visited this campsite quite a few times, myself partner and our 9yr old. This was the first site my son had ever been to and he loved it, fishing with his dad, although they have only ever caught 1 small fish it doesn't stop them tryin. We were at the water side and experienced the wrath of the 'midge' on a few occasions but since then we have invested in avon skin so soft too keep them away. There is a swing park on site that is located near to the tents and shop. Evening nights with the rangers, looking for bats were fun, but can be done on your own with a torch, look out for frogs though.
Great little site with a pub just outside and close to town, with plenty of places too eat, shop, definitely recommend to others

This site is great for an off season break. We spent two nights here and it was very quiet. We were a bit surprised to find that there were no hard standings available as there only seemed to be a few outfits but we didn't book in advance. Driving off the pitch on the last morning was a bit slidy due to heavy rain in the night.
Great hot showers, well heated; immaculate loos; wonderful walks and the autumn colours were spectacular.
If you have bikes bring them - the site is within yards of a network of great cycle tracks.
We'll be returning for sure.

Spent a Sunny August weekend here when the campsite was fully booked and extremely busy (and noisy at night as others have mentioned)
Facilities coped well and were always clean.
We walked into Aberfoyle down the cycle path (about a mile and a half) and saw a demonstration of sheep and duck (!) herding at the tourist information centre. I think this is a regular thing in the Summer months.
You can fish here for free, although the fish are only three or four inches in length.
Pitch crossing was rife - don't know why, but every 5 minutes, someone would pass right by the door on the way to the toilet block - may be because of the design of the site where otherwise you would have a long walk round. A little bit annoying though.
Midges weren't too bad for us - must have been lucky that weekend!

Fantastic site. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Toilets and showers were immaculate, and the disabled toilet facilities were perfect.
Dishwashing area was always kept clean.
Lovely walk into Aberfoyle through the woods, the children loved it.
Play area for kids, they had a ball!
Gave us a map of the site which was a great help, as it showed everything. Shop too which had a few basics for you.
Curry van came around to the site also on one of our nights.
Big rubbish point and recycling too.
Will definitely be back

We have visited this site 4 months in a row now, as I only get one weekend a month off!
We were apprehensive about this site the first time as it didn't really have anything on it, such as cafe, bar, entertainment, etc.
However our fears were elevated after the first day!
The most important thing to us on a site is our kids safety, firstly there have only been family's and couples on the site in our 4 or 5 visits, no rowdy or drunk louts about and although there are sections of forest and a river running through it, I don't think we've been anywhere else where we've felt so relaxed when the wee ones are running about.
The site is well appointed for tents or caravans with premium soft pitches (grass) with or without electric hook-up for tents or caravans or hard pitches (gravel) for caravans on the upper levels, although if your kids are playing in the play park you can't watch them from the upper levels.
The toilet block is well appointed and very clean, with hair driers in the ladies.
Shower rooms are very nice with plenty of room, always hot water, wash-up sinks are kept well and never too busy again plenty of hot water.
There is a laundry at the side of the shower block however we've never used it,
Kids playground is adequate with a few swings and a reasonably large climbing frame, mine are hard to please and love it.
The best things about this site are the staff, from a hearty welcome from reception, the man who picks litter and cleans the showers and toilet always says hello and passes the time of day with you.
Last but by far least, the rangers, this season Nikki and Wil were the team, they are fantastic and made the weekends for the kids, Nikki does the forest walks (survival, night) and both are very knowledgeable about all thing natural and the surrounding area, the ranger tent has all sorts of activities and crafts, a Sunday has a raft race, make the raft and race it, its great fun for the kids, and me if I'm honest.
The site is close to Gartmore, it's only about 3/4 of a mile but its up the steepest hill I've seen in a while! Its a small village with a nice wee shop and the black bull bar/hotel, both are very acceptable.
About 3 miles the other direction is Aberfoyle, you can visit the woollen mill which has a cracking sheep dog display, I also has a nice wee restaurant, two bars/hotels and a chippy as well as some very interesting shops, not many though.
This whole area is very good for the active folk with more walks, cycle tracks, climbing and fishing than you could shake a stick at.
Overall a very good experience, if you check a map you'll find within 30 to 45 mins you could be in Stirling, Glasgow or Edinburgh a great base.

We went there 3 or 4 years ago and it's still a very nice place and very friendly and helpful.
We stayed two nights and you must be careful where you put the tent because when it's raining, your tent can easily be in the middle of a puddle. Believe me!
Hot water in the showers, toilets were clean.
The Red Bull (Gartmore) is not as nice as the first time we went there. It became a hotel restaurant and the menu is the same as every where in a standard tourist hotel. To eat, we found the 'Waverley' (Calander) and we eat a very good haggis. At least!
