Only one regulation adhered to on this site and that was not allowing us to pitch until 12. 00hrs despite there being lots of empty pitches. People are allowed to pitch where they wish which resulted in units pitching either side of us only just allowing for our car to fit and we didn't have an awning! Dogs roaming free, one tried getting in our van. Ball games played next to vans. Cars going far too fast on the roads and coming and going at all hours - engine revving and car doors slamming at 6am one morning. No hot water for showers after 9. 30am. Wash block run down and grass in need of a cut. All that said, it is a nice easy walk into Filey and onto the Brigg. Scarborough only a short drive away but we won't be going back to this site.

Our first visit (July 2014) and definitely our last! As most people have stated the staff are very friendly etc. Be warned, the site is easily waterlogged, very uneven in places, and deep ruts where vehicles have to negotiate to gain access to certain parts of the site. The grass is seldom cut, pitches are unmarked which may sound good, unfortunately selfish campers seem to hog as much space as possible with no thought of their neighbours. Signs stating 'dogs on leads at all times' and 'No ball games' mean nothing. No staff carry out checks at all. Facilities are good, and clean, but unfortunately hot water soon runs out.
As people have mentioned before, there are no barrier gates, so units can arrive anytime in the night, and they do! Fresh water points are very few, the whole place is run on the cheap by Filey Council, but the prices charge per Pitch is expensive.
Filey Beach is beautiful, the town itself is nice, with splendid views of Filey Bay. There are much nicer campsites around Filey, with more considerate Dog Owners, and much cheaper.
I suspect the veteran Filey Campers will scoff at my remarks, so be it.
You have been Warned!

We booked the site in advance, but as we were going to be arriving at 5. 30pm we phoned to let them know we were going to be late. We were told that it was OK, but when we arrived, the reception was closed, so we had to park on the late arrivals, with no access to the toilet block as you need a fob to open it.
The man was apologetic the next day as he had to go to a party.
The toilet blocks are very clean, warm and spacious.
Very near to the lovely town of Filey.
We will be back to this site soon.

The only thing I could recommend about this site was its location near to Filey. Thankfully we only stayed 2 nights. At nearly £25 per night and an additional £1. 10 for our dog it wasn't worth the money. Site was uneven. Grass cutting took place as soon as we arrived - which ended up in the m'home! Some of the hook-ups didn't work. Hardstandings were overgrown. Some dog owners didn't clear up after their animals. Toilets & showers were clean (but people had been smoking in them) but archaic. I understand that this site is owned/run by Scarborough Council who obviously see it as a 'cash cow'. They could do with ploughing some money back in to the site to improve the facilities!

Our first outing and we picked a good one. Site manager and staff very helpful. Toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and warm all the time. A 10 to 15 mins. Walk into town, pubs OK and meals for all tastes. We had fish in C`J`s and it was to die for 12 out of 10.

We love this campsite, and we love Filey. It is a proper Yorkshire campsite - no frills, but everything you need - from the aging but lovely roomy clean shower cubicles, and a generous number of hard standings for damp weather, to the convenient location, and warm friendly welcome. As stated, you can see the sea from many pitches, and easily walk to the beach or into town. The café attached serves tasty breakfasts and lovely home baked cakes, and the municipal workers were in evidence each day we were there, tidying and mowing and keeping everywhere shipshape. There are plenty of walks along the cliff path and out to Filey Brigg, and activities for all the family in the town, from immaculate gardens to wander in and activity parks for children, plus fossil hunting and crabbing on the wonderful sandy beach. Definitely a site well worth visiting.

Good site
Fabulously near the beach - when you park you can choose your plot and as it was really only for the foolhardy the weekend we pitched up we got a lovely spot looking over the sea. I can imagine though how busy this place must get in the summer owing to it's proximity to the lovely little town of Filey.
The chap was very helpful when we booked - but we arrived a little later than planned and I don't think he was exactly pleased! However - key (with deposit) handed over he scarpered and we settled in. The pitches are large - some hard standing some grass. The two playgrounds great for the kids
The facilities were good - a little aged but warm - hubby and DS (4) reported the showers in the mens were simply blasting but mine at the end of the line in the ladies was really quite poor - definitely more of a sad trickle but the cubicles themselves were spacious with hooks and a bench - top notch there!
Filey was a few minutes walk Way with list of shops and restaurants - definitively a sweet alternative to Whitby and all in all a nice site that I bet is fab in the summer!

The best thing about this site is its location as it’s only a short walk to the beach and nearby Filey.
The walk by road to Filey was 12 minutes. The beach is about a 5 minute walk away and it’s possible to walk along the beach and also get to Filey this way. The beach was packed with holidaymakers, kids building sandcastles etc. Which surprised us as we were expecting a quieter beach. Plenty of places for food and an amusement arcade were next to the beach. Dogs are allowed on this part of the beach.
In Filey there are plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops, so if like us you have a motorhome you can leave it parked up and walk everywhere.
The site itself is OK. It’s flat and level and you can just about see the sea from some pitches. The cost for 2 adults, 1 dog and EHU in a motorhome was £24. 50. Yes it’s true there are cheaper sites inland, you decide.
On booking the site we were told that they close at 4pm (Sunday) so we rushed to arrive by then. We then saw that they have a late arrivals area. The lady who made the booking made no mention of this which I found strange.
The site is bigger than we expected. There is a Café and shop attached to reception and the toilets and showers, although old, were very clean and worked well.
A nice place to spend a few days and somewhere that we will visit again.

First time I have ever visited this site, the site is clean and tidy
And council owned the toilets are clean but old, when you arrive you get to pick your own pitch,
The location as stated in other reviews is excellent we walked
Onto the brigg and did a bit of rock pooling, finding crabs and all sorts of small creatures, the 2 play parks are off the site across the entrance road to the site
We walked into Filey and visited the local family run bella italia restaurant (Not part of the restaurant chain) and had an excellent meal
All menu meals are available in half potions for children which was good
Basic, clean site with friendly staff and perfect location for parking your car up and walking everywhere
Only thing we didn't like was there where no barriers onto the site a we never noticed and wardens or security to stop people coming into the site at night and driving round
So don't leave anything open or on view

We've been visiting this site for the last three years and absolutely love it. Dog friendly and if you have kids there's a good playground. Shop and cafe on site. Smashing staff who are always friendly and always smile which is welcome these days. Very clean and powerful showers, warm building too. Beech is easily accessible. Love it here and were so disappointed last weekend when we couldn't get in
The only problem it has is being interrupted at nights by kids in cars late at night on the field nearby but since we've been going this problem seems to be reducing hence the fuzz must be on to it
