We arrived at Filey and were immediately impressed with the sites location. The staff were helpful and had reserved a pitch for our friends caravan so that we could be close together, as we were in our tent.
The site facilities, toilets & showers were spacious and clean. The washing up area was a little cramped due to the hose pipe, and the water was only warm. There was a shop/cafe on site and a play ground for children.
Lots of space to run around with it backing onto the Country Park land. Filey is a bit of a revelation for East Coast and we were thoroughly taken with it's charm and that it appears not to have been taken over by arcades.
Unfortunately our stay was cut short by the weather. Winds of a forecast 30mph rampaged through the site and eventually destroyed our tent beyond repair. Having been away from the site for a couple of hours we returned to the devastation from the wind. We struggled to pack away in the wind and rain, but were able to retain our belongings although the tent was not as lucky.
Lots of other campers had the same to contend with and lost their tents. Others were not as fortunate not knowing what was going on above them. Our friends lost their awning which has been fixed with storm straps, and were unable to leave the site when we did due to the high winds, not wanting to risk the caravan going over.
I would advise anyone staying here to take into consideration the weather, what is happening in the bay is not the same as on the cliff.
It would have been informative to have had a weather warning issued by the site, as this can't be the first time this has happened.

Love the Filey site. Been lots of times, but due to price rises (£1. 50) per dog, we have 3 and being pensioners, we can no longer afford it sadly, but I would still highly recommend it.
The manager is great and very helpful and has got the site open for xmas and new year, so doesn't close until January. It used to close October.
The shower blocks are ok, one does need updating but it's always clean and functional and the other was only refurbed in 2009 and that one is very good.
If the prices would go back to being free for dogs we would be back like a shot

Just got back from 4 nights and it was fantastic, normally we go to haven sites for the entertainment for the kids but thought we'd try a different site for a change and I am really glad we did
The site was clean tidy and not overcrowded, a few people on here have commented on the sites shower block been a bit out dated but I cant complain about it, they were clean and warm, nice roomey and powerful showers. We used the showers on an evening to avoid any morning rush and there was plenty of hot water,
There's quick and easy beach access via a 5 min walk down a slope and only a short walk into the town centre. The staff were very helpful, were booking for 2 weeks in July. The only problem I could see is that with it been on a cliff top it could be windy at times but don't let this put you of a great site.

Lovely site in lovely position. We didn't use our car all week! Loads of walks around the headland, both on the top and the shoreline and also plenty of paths to explore into the town itself.
The warden couldn't have been friendlier. We had a problem with our car and arrived after the normal office hours, but he waited for us to arrive so we could get a pass card for the facilities and was so friendly and helpful, as were the office girls.
The facilities were excellent. Very clean and spacious.
Definitely be going back again.

A very large site on the cliff edge, very windy and somewhat open all around. However, the facilities were plentiful and clean and there was a large playground outside the site. A well stocked shop and cafe were also on the site.
Short walk to the beach and in to Filey. A good place for a weekend break by the coast.
Friendly reception, but we had to find our own pitch and water/waste facilities.

Been coming to Filey since a wee nipper, mainly with caravan, almost like a 2nd home. We've always stayed on the other side of town and never really fancied this site being quite big and on an exposed cliff top.
However, now grown up with kids & dog in tow, we prefer this side. Great quick access to beach & coble landing with amusements, waffles etc.
Wonderful cliff walk to blow away the morning cobwebs with the pooch.
The site itself is OK - nothing fancy and as other comments, in need of some TLC. We stayed in Oct half term when not that busy and picked a nice corner pitch with loads of space. Would imagine it gets quite tight & crowded in silly season.
We will def return.

We really liked this site.
Visited for a 2 night stay, which we increased to a 3 night whilst there, as we were having such a good time.
The pitches were of a very good size and level. It was very windy when we were pitching, but thanks to the help of friendly neighbours we did eventually manage to erect our tent.
The loos were clean and the showers reasonably hot. The washing up area has 3 sinks, and despite being outdoor is under cover and has plenty of hot water.
Shop on site had good basic supplies and buckets and spades! We didn't visit the cafe, but it was always well occupied.
Short walk to beach, but VERY steep and quite hard work on way back, especially if pushing a pushchair or carrying small children!
There are rock pools to explore and a nice beach for sandcastle building.
A playground is on the site and our 3 children aged 2, 6 and 8 loved it.
Unfortunately there are no inside activities on this site, so if the weather is bad you would have to look further afield for amusements.
Overall a great place for a holiday and we will be going again!

We visited this site over the weekend, lucky we booked before we went as the site was full. The site is well kept and level, the staff were friendly, toilet blocks were clean and tidy, the showers were nice and hot even though the site was full. In a good location for the shops/pubs and beach although a bit hilly to get to the beach, some good cliff top walks and the views from them are great. Can be a bit windy as it is on the cliff top but don't let that put you off a great campsite.
In easy reach of Bridlington,Scarbrough and whitby a good time was had by all we will be returning soon.

What a fantastic 3 days camping. The location was brilliant just a stones throw away from the beach with a woodland path to take you down to the beach safely so no worries about the children running into cars. The playground kept the children busy whilst cooking tea and the field was great for football.
The staff were very friendly and helpful above and beyond.
The toilets and showers were better than described in other comments so pleasantly surprised.
All in all brilliant!
We will definitely be going back.

Large site, on cliff top overlooking Filey Bay. Plenty of space with two children's play parks and shop supplying newspapers, basics plus cafe. Large open areas for ball games and kite flying. Site is very exposed to winds so need to make sure everything tied down securely. The facilities were clean and adequate for the numbers there over the weekend. The site looks like it may be quiet during the week.
Filey has lovely beach and rockpools so entertainment can be cheap. Footpaths down to beach (steep) and into town are suitable for pushchairs etc. Filey town is basic, a number of reasonable eateries and takeaways. The promenade is clean and child friendly. We found a newly opened animal centre which is good value, educational and interactive and could fill six hours if you took a picnic. You are also close to Scarborough and Bridlington if you like larger seaside resorts.
