This is our first visit to Filey Brigg caravan park. On arrival we booked in at the reception and found the reception staff very friendly and polite and very informative of all the facilities on site. Both male and female toilet/showers were very clean and warm. We enjoyed our stay and we will be returning in the near future for more relaxing breaks. We would recommend this site a visit to any one visiting the Yorkshire coast.

Our first stay at Filey Brigg (and first trip out after swapping canvas to caravan). We found the site very relaxed, we were just told to go out and find a pitch. There was a total of 5 units in our group, and we managed to group together in the middle of one of the fields. As it was the Jubilee bank holiday weekend, the site was full, but it was far from feeling cramped. We only had to queue for the showers one morning in the second smaller block. This shower/toilet block does feel more dated than the main modernised block where reception is, though they were fairly clean. The air did feel a little stale in there, and could definitly use some forced ventilation.
The field did get muddy after some overnight rain, though we did not have any trouble with getting traction when leaving the site. I would be hesitant about bringing a tent to this site as it is very exposed to the wind, and awnings do need to be well pegged down.
We would return to this site again, but there is room for improvement.

Good site mainly for caravans, with a tent area that is long and thin, but plenty of room. 3 washing up sinks with hot water.
Toilet block next to tent area, loads of sinks and toilets & 4 showers with free hot water, assume same for the ladies.
Behind the tent area is a large playing field kids played on all the time, plus at the other side of the toilet block a playground.
Filey beach a short walk down the steep path/closed road to the beach, which comes out next to the sailing club, only another short walk to the cobbled ramp near the attractions and back up the hill to the centre.
Good walks along the cliffe tops, or along filey brigg.
As previous reviews it was windy.

Campsite is on top of cliffs just north of filey town. There is direct access down to beach although the walk is down a steep road.
Campsite is clean and well kept. Toilet/showers are clean and well looked after.
There is a park and lots of grassed areas for kids to play in.
The tent pitches are regulated quite strictly by the site and they show you where to put your tent and car. Pitches tend to be close together - they want to get as many people on as possible!
Would go again

After reading some of the reviews on this site I was a little cautious about staying here. Having said that, we did and oh my goodness I was so pleased we did! We stopped on the off chance whilst avoiding the snow (Week commencing 02/04/12) What a lovely site, we got the most happy and warm welcome we have had from any site we've been to. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The town itself is 10 minute stroll either down the walkway from the site and along the beach or via the well signposted streets, as some members have said it is quite steep but it is a fishing village and its the same along most of the coastline.
The site is a lovely little site with two toilet/shower blocks, the showers in the smaller block are a little dismal and cold (my only down side). There is a little shop/cafe on site and easy access to the beach. Good walking areas for dogs, plenty of excellent play areas for children, but most importantly fantastic views of the bay.

Arrived early on Friday 6th. Very pleasant staff on booking in. Allowed to enter site early at no extra cost. Lots of space for walking my dog. Shower blocks dated. Shower heads fixed and had to literally stand against the wall to get wet. Showers were mostly cold unless you were there about 7AM and first in the queue. Site electric tripped about 8pm on certain parts of the site. Several people went to enquire at site warden but he was very unhelpful and stated quite abruptly that 'there's a number on the door, I'm not on call' electric stayed off until 9AM the following morning even though the council attended. This repeated itself the following night on other parts of the site. No offer of a reduction for the inconvenience.

We keep coming back to Filey Brigg every year and love all that the area has to offer. This time we stayed the April BH week and survived the most horrendous winds which hit the vans and tents really hard as everyone is on the cliff top. All 7 tents were destroyed and people were trying to dismantle awnings in the middle of the night!
Anyway, this year there has been new tarmac laid on the roads and the shower blocks have been given new paint. The warden Ian is one of the kindest long suffering blokes you will ever meet and goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable.
The only downside to this site is the occasional boy racer using the Country Park as a racetrack and the grass as a skid pan after hours. Why there can't be locked gates out of hours is beyond me. The same fraternity in one night once stole our knackered but much loved charoal BBQ and unplugged about 15 vans from the electric hookups so we leave nothing out at all and make sure everything is locked down.
Another annoyance is self inflicted in colder bank holiday conditions when everyone greedily has their electric heating set to full. Some parts of the site can trip and lose the supply completely and it will be off until the following day when the wardens are back in. I think this is set to change as the Scarborough Borough Council are either going to limit the numbers staying or they are going to get a new supply laid in for 2013.
The walks around here are amazing. We love walking around the bay to Horace's beach cafe at Hunmanby Gap. In the other direction there is a one hour clifftop walk to Cayton bay where there is another cafe. Bridlington isn't far so visit Dane's Dyke. If you are off 25 miles to Whitby make sure you go via the Hole of Horcum (check it out on Wikipedia), it's a huge J-shaped hole hundreds of feet deep in the flat moorland.
There are 3 largish caravan accessory shops within 15 minutes drive, once of which is a caravan breakers.
Finally the Brigg itself is amazing. It's actually an old quarry where the stone for the harbour and Bridlington church came from, and the Romans dumped a load of smaller stones to make it a crude harbour in times earlier than the quarrying. These can be seen at low tide at 45 deg to the main outcrop. I love how one side the sea can be frighteningly rough pounding the rocks, while the bay side can be like a millpond. Wildlife is a twitchers paradise and we got close up to a seal once laid out on one of the rocks!
Give this site a try. You'll come back time and time again!

We chose this as the second site we ever stayed at in our new motorhome and new to camping, it was wonderful! As we only live an hour away from Filey we are familiar with the coastline but had never actually been to Filey itself. On arrival the attendant was friendly and helpful, being the end of November there were few other campers so plenty of pitch choices. We opted for a view across the bay which was stunning. The facilities were a little dated but perfectly adequate and the whole site felt spacious and well maintained. We noted a lovely wooden play area for the kiddies which looked like fun and appeared to be safe, lots of all round vision so parents could observe their little darlings from a distance. The dog walking area was away from the road, plenty of room to let the dogs run and chase without worrying.
The weather was mild for the time of year but very windy, in fact Filey had a red triangle storm warning hovering over it on the weather map, and boy did the wind blow. We were very concerned for our fellow campers, some of the caravans seemed quite small flimsy but everyone was fine.
The next morning, with the tide out we had a beautiful walk along the seashore. Filey is the perfect small Victorian seaside town, offering all the usual shops, some a bit boho which we loved. There is a large, new Tesco but please try to support local traders. Some of the pubs are dog friendly but you need to ask first.
We have booked to return for a number of weekends over the year and look forward to it. A lovely place!

What a disappointment this site was. The shower block was in need of modernisation & the showers were lukewarm. The site lacked privacy & security - we didn't feel that it was separate from the country park. It was wet & muddy when we arrived & we were told to park on one of the hardstandings. We soon discovered that you had to reverse over a grassy area to get onto the hardstandings & our front wheels lost traction. We ended up on one of the roadways, blocking the movement of traffic around the site (at the warden's suggestion). Pleasant but steep walk into the town along the front. We walked into town using a longer way around in the evening - very poorly lit. We won't be returning to this site.

Just had weekend at Filey Brigg it was the 2nd choice after whitby which was full due to a goth weekend, but what a nice site.
Weather was cool and breezy but fine and we were surprised at the number of people there regardless.
Set on a clifftop a stones throw from the town, decent shower facilities, a shop, (closed and shuttered now) and friendly staff.
The pitches are a bit random which is how we like it, some are hard standing but most just have the green mesh that the grass grows through
Even OH commented what a lovely place this must be in the summer
Will make a particular point of going back
