When it comes to ticking all the boxes, Filey Brigg does just that. The site itself is very nice, it was packed when we arrived but you didn't get bothered by anyone.
The pitches are a good size. The toilet facilities are very good, they are locked up so it means that they do not become a play area! The site is on the country park; it is very exposed to the elements especially the strong winds we had during our stay.
There is a small shop and cafe at the entrance to the site and opposite is a good playground for little ones. Just a ten minute to both the beach and the town. We have not been here for 20 years or so and it still retains an uncommercialised feel.
It is certainly popular, it was busy all the time of our stay. Over the peak season, dogs are not allowed on the beach in front of the main promenade but there is plenty of space at either end of the beach for them.
You also have the benefit of great cliff top walks as long as you have a head for heights! The staff were very friendly, something we often find lacking in many of the sites we have visited. The site is council run but don't let that put you off. It is brilliant.
Once some of the vans thinned out on the Monday, we found that we had a sea view. So, if you want a sea view, pitch at the front edge of the site near the road into the country park.
Will we come back? Yes, if ever we are this way again, we will revisit. Full marks.

Beautifully situated in Filey Brigg Country Park, with wonderful views over the bay. We arrived there on the last leg of walking the Cleveland Way and although the site was busy and we had no reservation the friendly staff managed to fit us in.
Good shower and toilet facilities were clean and were being kept clean despite the large number of people on site.
Staff had a real customer care focussed attitude and the little shop and cafe on site is pleasant and useful if you don't carry much gear and provisions as a walker.
Excellent start or end point for walking the Cleveland Way.

Although it was raining heavy on arrival the tent pitches seem to cope and drain well (always an advantage when using a tent)
The site was clean and tidy and the staff were polite and helpfully, shower early if you want the best of the hot water, although saying that the was water was always warm enough.
Easy access to the beach etc although the walk back up the hill is not for the faint hearted !
My only criticism is that £17 per night for a 2 man tent is a little steep although granted you don’t have any further parking fees to visit the beach etc because it’s all within walking distance.
Overall my son and I had enjoyable couple of days and would definitively stay for a short break again.

We had a fab. 5 nights at this lovely campsite. The toilets were cleaned daily and are nice and warm, shower was nice, I kept forgeting they shut the toilet block when being cleaned but the staff were great & let me use the loo.
The shop is ideal for snax such as chips etc. And stocks similar things like a corner shop. Its ideal if you have a dog, lots of feilds and steps down to the beach.
If you walk all the way along the sea front there is a nice hotel with seats outside, very dog friendly as they have a big bowl of water for the dogs.
My friend stayed at primrose vally for more than double what we paid. Also they were building a big play area all made out off wooden logs which looked great for older kids as the playpark opp.
The shop is for younger children. Will definitely go back.

It is a good campsite as only 5 minutes walk to the beach and it has a great park for the kids and has it is on the country park if you have a dog the area is great to walk them.
The showers are great as they are big so you can fit your little kids in with you and they are free. The temperature is good if you have small children as they were never hot just warm.
There is a cafe on site which we used all the time. It opens at 8am in peak season and closes at 5pm I think.
There was no organisation at all with the tent pitches it was basically put it where you want and it was very cramped. The guide ropes were touching other peoples. This is the only negative point I have got for this site. If you want to come to this site then off peak would be better as less cramped.
If you decide to go walking around the country park watch out for dog poo as there is plenty of it because of irresponsible dog owners. The campsite is immaculate though so don't let the above put you off.

We stayed on this site mid April 2011 and Late May 2011. This was our first time camping so we did not really know what to expect.
The pitches are not marked out and you are basically told to put your tent where you want, in April there was only one other tent on the site (the rest of the site is caravans etc… of which there were plenty). We pitched our tent about 50m from the toilet block / sinks / reception and shop/café which was great.
The cafe was reasonably priced with a good basic selection of food, we used it most days at least once.
The second time, in June the site was busy with tents all over the place (I counted about 24 on the grass strip where tents are permitted), we found a decent size pitch about 150m from the on site facilities. The second night, our neighbours were up well past midnight (1:45) playing a loud card game and drinking, thankfully our other neighbour went over and pointed out the error of their behaviour (our kids did not wake up anyway). The third day most of the campers left the site and they were replaced with a “college” party who were quite noisy (much to their teachers dismay) but they did settle down at about midnight and hiked off at 8am the next day.
I think this is a great site, with masses of open space for the kids to play on, short hill walk to the beach, short walk to Filey along the beach. Decent kids play area next to the café.
Lots to do with the kids if the weather is bad, we went to Bridlington Leisure Centre one morning and Play Dale Farm another day. Bridlington, Flamborough and Scarborough are all within 20 minutes drive.
Being a keen runner, I loved it and ran to Scarborough (9 miles to Scarborough Castle along the hilly cliff top path). Another day I ran along the beach to Hunmanby Gap, and then back on the roads (up a killer hill at Hunmanby Gap).
The showers and toilets were ok, obviously they get a bit grubby between cleans.
The site is quite open as the massive grass car park between the camp site and cliffs is open 24/7 and you do get the odd car driving on to it after nightfall.

Visited this site for the fourth time, and we are always happy with everything.
On our arrival we were greeted by very friendly & helpful staff, which always makes you feel happy & relaxed, there was numerous pitches available but we tend to favour the far side of the site opposite the reception, this is lovely & quiet area, away from the hustle & bustle of the car park.
Facilities are very good, shower/toilet block always clean & warm, pot washing area is good, and the little shop is excellent.
Walks & views are magnificent from the site, and Filey town centre a 10 minute walk away.
This is a site that we will be returning for many years to come.

Was a bit unsure about booking this site with it being a Council run one, but I tried a few around the area and with being Easter weekend the ones I rang were fully booked, I paid a £15 deposit and paid the remaining £99 on arrival for 2 adults and 3 children.
The site is opposite a large car park which is were the kids park (which is okay) is. There is a small shop/cafe which does not belong to the campsite, but is adjoining the reception and sure enough when we arrived my partner said that he was not stopping here for 4 days, but once I paid the full balance and paid £5 deposit for the smallest toilet block fob I have ever seen we were told to pick a pitch anywhere
We were lucky to find one near the reception as it was really full, we got set up and inspected the toilets at the reception and they were dated but very clean (there is another newer block on the site but we never used them).
There were 3 washing up sinks attached to the reception part covered with a hose for fresh water fill ups, the site is basic but the surrounding area makes up for it,
We walked across the road and down a fairly steep bank within 5 mins we were at the beach from there were walked along the beach to the promenade where there were various gift shops, 1 amusement arcade and lots of food places, a small mini golf, donkey rides along the beach and a few small rides for the children,
The walk to the end takes about 45 mins and then up a steep hill from there there is a small golf course on 1 side and a playground park with a small boating lake, mini golf, putting green, cafe on the other.
We walked back from there along the top of the coast line which has beautifully well maintained gardens and then into the town centre which is small but has a few quaint shops/pubs and a nisa. There is a tesco further out, not too far from the town its about a 10-15min walk to the campsite.
It ended up a good 4 days, the kids enjoyed playing on the beach, the weather was sunny, but very windy as its nearly on the cliffs edge,
So if we were going back to this area I would return to this campsite although basic the surrounding area and views from the cliffs makes up for it.

Have used this site several times a year over the past twenty years and it is the best site in the area for ease of walking to the sand the sea the town the supermarkets and shops. Ten minute walk to any of these.
The views from the brigg are stunning and the bay is a large.
The site is kept ok, toilet blocks not new but passable, hard standing and grass for all types of leisure vehicles.
Tea shop at the entrance way does nice breakfast and mini meals throughout the day. Also keeps some provisions. Brammwells coffee shop in the town does great crab sandwiches and brill coffee, would recommend you try if you havn't.
Good fish n chips, ok pub meals at three tuns who have live music on some nights.
For a great weekend away you can't beat it it if you live within 60 miles. We arrive sixish Friday night (tell them your going to be there after five, sometimes they wait if in summer but in winter they close early, we just park up n sort out the following day) leave mid day Sunday.

Very nice site with excellent location. Beach less than 5 mins walk and Filey town centre about 10 mins walk. We parked the car up after unhitching the caravan and didn't use it again until we were hitching back up.
Staff were polite and helpful for any site specific questions. There is a reception open from 9am to 6pm but otherwise no wardens or staff. Whilst there are rules in place about parking, pitches, ball games etc, in reality the lack of staff means that none of the rules are actually enforced so you need to pick your pitch carefully (they are not reserved pitches).
There is a private shop (not same ownership of the site) which is ok for basics and serves food, but is expensive. We preferred the short walk into town to get anything we needed as there are plenty of options including a well stocked and well priced supermarket. There is also a children's park across the (quiet) road which is a little old and could do with a lick of paint, but is functional for the younger kids.
There are two toilet blocks - the older ones at reception and the new block. The new block was having issues during our stay and was not always fully available. Part was due to blockages and part, sadly, to vandalism which was depressing to see but was fixed within the day (doors pulled off cubicles).
In general the washing/shower facilities were ok, but they are only just adequate for the number of people using them and the water (shower) was cold more often than hot during our week there. I showered in the caravan the last two days to ensure I got a hot shower.
All pitches are grass, but even with rain as long as you are not in the bottom field the grass dries off very quickly as there is intermittently a breeze through the site. We never had much of a problem with this - in fact it was less of an issue than our stay a little further up the cost at Cayton a year earlier on a more sheltered site.
Electric points are easy to reach - I only needed my 10m cable and there are plenty of drinking and waste water points close by. As the pitches are pretty much a case of park where you like they end up being spacious as most people we saw used cars and windbreaks to extend the space they had. It seemed to work though and everyone had enough space. This system also limited the short cuts a lot of people were trying to take through other peoples pitches.
Whilst there I did have a look at other sites I'd considered before booking this one and in truth their location was nowhere near as good as Filey Brigg. We met some nice people on the site and despite a few shortcomings we'd happily go back again and would recommend to friends.
