Great campsite, friendly staff, great location and good price. Plenty hot water and soap in toilets which were very clean. Racked my brain to find something to complain about - still racking!
Foolishly forgot to say I was CCC member and senior citizen for discount- maybe they will remember me and apply it later? Particularly pleased to see that they actively encourage re-cycling.
Will definitely go back!

Our daughter bought us Tattoo tickets, so we decided to make this the start of our touring holiday around Scotland, we stayed here for three nights at the busiest time Edinburgh has all year, with the Festival and Tattoo taking place. When we arrived we were more than happy with the very friendly and helpful staff on reception, we asked numerous questions regarding travel into Edinburgh and received very helpful and informative information. If you need to know, there is a five minute walk from the site and a number 26 bus takes you right into the city (or even right to the zoo!) it takes approx 45-60 minutes depending on traffic and they run until very late evening, and then if you are a real stop out, there is an even later half hourly bus all night! All far easier than taking the car into the city.
Spaces were smallish but adequate. We never had to wait for a shower, though there are only three showers in the block, the toilet block was old, but was clean and well kept. Dishwashing facilities again older in style but we found them clean and well kept.
Around the site there are ample dog walking areas, right down to the seafront should you wish.
Each evening there is a wood burning pizza stove on site. They are lovely, well worth a try, and no cooking!
As we said our visit was at the height of tourist time for Edinburgh, prices for the site are fairly high but we did expect this.
All in all for a busy city site we felt it was good and would return again.

Just got back from a great week in the Edinburgh area we stayed at drummohr camp site and have to say what a great site it is,
The staff are friendly and helpful the site is spotless the shop has a fairly good range and the info room covers the area very well.
The shower blocks are good even a hair dryer in the gents at a small cost of 10p and last a good while
There is plenty of room in the play area for the kids with some good equipment
A tip for people going into Edinburgh if you want some good value hot take away search out the sainsburys super market just of the main street

We stayed at DrumMohr at the end of July/beginning of August 2013. In my opinion the pitches were very cramped and offered no personal space. We were unable to park our car next to the tent on the pitch. So cramped in fact that we looked out onto a pitch in the middle of all the pitches as well. Walking around the site the caravan pitches were also very cramped.
Furthermore, the showers were not sufficient for the size and number of people staying on the site. Two blocks with three showers each - in each block one of which was disabled. The cleanliness of the showers was not good. For example, my partner noticed a block of soap on the floor in one of the cubicles in the mens showers and it was still there at the end of the week. We suggested a mop to enable people to leave the shower clean for the next person to staff and were told this was not possible as it would be stolen. I have never stayed on a site were there is no mop provided to leave the shower in a suitable condition for the next person.
Would highly recommend the wood fired pizza oven, this was lovely when we arrived after pitching up the tent.
Will not be staying on this site again and I do not feel that the facilities and pitch sizes are worth the price they are charging.

We stayed at drum mohr during the British open golf at muirfield, first time we stayed there but very quiet :). Reception was friendly & very efficient. The site warden was a good guy very helpful. We booked a super pitch so we had a bit of privacy, but looking at the hard standings, they are quite close together. We totally enjoyed our stay at drum mohr. My only complaint would be there is not enough showers, in the men's there was 2 & 1 disabled one. Very often there was a queue.
There was a mobile pizza trailer with a traditional oven, really nice pizza & reasonable priced.
Toilets were always clean, shop was small but sold all the basics, fresh bread could be bought on mornings.
All in all very friendly site, would defo be going back. Excellent position for getting into Edinburgh also.

Stayed here mid July for four nights. On arriving went straight to reception where upon the receptionist quickly handed me a leaflet and pointed to an assistant for me to follow, she gave no explanation and when I enquired I was told to follow the assistant, this was not a good welcome and at this point alarm bells rang as I had also noticed the reception area itself was extremely untidy and cluttered, not a good start. We followed the assistant to our pitch and to give the assistant his due he was a good bit more friendly and helpful, however we did have to ask him where everything was, it was the people in the next caravan who helped us the most.
The toilet blocks had seen better days and could do with being refurbished as could the dishwashing area.
The noise of traffic from other cars and from the little buggies the assistants used in this caravan site was just too much, however there did look as though there maybe other more peaceful areas to pitch. The rain came and it was then we discovered that the drainage on our particular pitch was dreadful and that when we stood on our groundsheet the wet and mud squelched through, however I'm sure if we had brought this to the attention of the campsite we could have chosen another pitch.
There are lots of different nationalities on this site even travelling people from Ireland pitched up and they seemed to be given their own area, however I only hope that the folks from different cultures were given a better welcome than we were. The reason I am writing such a strong review on this site is that it was not cheap, the site was pretty full, one would expect some re-investment into this tired looking site, it would seem that investment has went into camping pods and chalets with no attention given to the falling apart plant tubs, general gardening and tidying, the run down toilet facilities and the poor drainage
Will we return, probably not!

This is one of the best sites we have stayed in. We have stayed here 3 times now each time coming for the Edinburgh marathon. The owners are really helpful. The pitches are great and sectioned off so it never feels over crowded. The toilet block is kept really clean and the wash up area has fridge and freezer for campers. There is a family who come on the weekend with their portable pizza oven and make fresh cooked to order pizza's for a very reasonable price. We can't recommend this site highly enough. Hope to come back really soon

We stayed here to support our friend in the Edinburgh Marathon and the site is perfect. It is full of little nooks and crannies so didn't feel as if you were on a big site. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful including moving us to be closer to our friends on the day we arrived. The shop has the essentials including fresh baked goods if ordered. They also have a wood fired pizza oven and you can have fresh baked pizza. Toilets were clean and well maintained and the showers were hot and free - never had to queue even though the site was full. The park is lovely for the children our group ranged from 5 years -12 years and all loved it. There are beaches near and the train station is a short walk away and very cheap if you want to go into Edinburgh to explore. I cannot recommend this site highly enough and am already planning to stay there again.

Lovely little site, great service. We had a lovely quite pitch with plenty of room for myself, hubby and the dog.
The toilets were clean but very general, what you see at every other sites. Handy little freezer in the washing area for ice cream and ice packs (we didn't need it cold enough)
There are plenty of shop for food bits and pieces. Lovely pub just down the road and a museum at the end of the road.

A well maintained campsite that has three areas for tents, which are surrounded by high-walled ruins. Some pitches are level, some slopping but each has a picnic table with nearby access to electric hookups.
The wash block consists of 4 washing up sinks and (small) freezer for ice packs, laundry, drinking water, showers and toilets. Showers are free and of a high standard. Hairdryer is 10p.
There is a small shop on site, tourist information and, whilst we were there, a mobile pizzaria.
The site is approx 40 mins bus journey to the heart of Edinburgh, with £1. 40 pp, for a single or £3. 50 for a day ticket. There is a Tesco approx 10 mins drive away, and a beach 10 min away that the bus route goes by. £25 per night for tent and 2 adults. If returning to the site by bus after dark, you will need a torch.
Poor points: biggest grip was the poor customer service by e-mail, face to face on arrival and during stay. Only 3 showers per gender for a very large site, but you can avoid the queues if you shower late at night. Freezer needs to be bigger for the size of the park.
