Great site. Have used it a few times for weekends but this year decided to go to the Edinburgh Festival as our main holiday.
After reading the other reviews I can confirm that there is no longer a charge for showers (just since there were so many mentioned the charge for showers).
Well stocked shop, with fresh hot croissants waiting for you for breakfast if you ordered them before 6pm the night before(ideal as you can get a quick start in the morning if spending the day out and about).
Sea views over to fife with some spectacular sunsets. Only 20 mins drive to Edinburgh, however, there are frequent buses pass the site and also a train station only a mile or so away, with park and ride facilities.
Many visitors from overseas, including a Dutch rally when we were there.
Although it is a very busy site (almost every pitch was taken) and as one left another would soon replace it, there was no sense of overcrowding. Staff were always helpful and were always having a look over the site in the golf carts and making sure the toilets/showers were spotless (there are 2 blocks).
There are plenty of places for eating and drinking, within a couple of miles, and would recommend the quay in Musselburgh.

We were looking for a base to visit the Edinburgh Festival, with its excellent bus and train (Wallyford) links to Edinburgh centre, Drummohr was very good indeed.
Drummohr is a business like (when booking, expect to be asked for a non returnable deposit) and highly developed site which possesses all the facilities and standards of maintenance you would expect from a 5* rated site. However, the two facilities blocks are ageing a little.
I concur with the previous reviews other than to firstly; update you in regard that the showers are now free; secondly to note that most of the reviews apply to the early or late seasons. By this, I mean that you go ‘peak of peak’ season when the site is full, expect to feel crammed in and to have to queue for a shower – although the hot water never ran out.
Considering it was peak season with the Edinburgh Festival in progress, we thought that £20.50/night for van, 2 people including EHU represented good value for money.
To sum up: a very competently operated site, probably best enjoyed when not full.

Stayed 3 nights here, and 3 nights too many. Found staff in office rather rude. We were shown to our pitch by an elderly gentleman and that was it. Left to our own devices in the pouring rain. As it was a younger gentleman was showing people to their pitch just two down from us, I had to ask him where facilities etc were.
As for facilities. Not impressed at all. Just two showers and one for disabled. Showers spurted out hot and then cold water. A continuously flickering strip light that was not fixed all the time we were there. No bread unless you got there first thing in the morning.
Not even much in the way of freezer foods if that was what you wanted. Bus stop not as close by as they state. Its down a fairly steepish hill and not easily accessible if you have difficulty walking.

Had a lovely weekend at this site, set in grounds of former estate. Fine views over the river forth to Fife. A good mix of tourers, seasonal caravanners, lodges and campers. Staff friendly and efficient, shop selling all the essentials, papers and rolls are pre-ordered.
Toilets and wash-up area spotless, payment required for showers. Good bus service into Edinburgh and Prestonpans, bus stop a couple of hundred yards from site gates. Musselburgh is an easy twenty minutes walk from site, handy for racecourse! Portobello is a beautiful spot with prom and a good mix of shops and pubs, Findlays the butcher has excellent haggis and sausages, highly recommended.
A relaxing site with good facilities and outlook, clean and tidy and well worth a visit, good for motorhomers without a car. Looking forward to returning again.

Nothing really to add to the previous reviews other than to endorse them.
Easy check-in, friendly staff, good pitches, well maintained toilet / shower blocks. 10p for a shower with plenty of time to use the hot water. Oddly the meters are outside the cubicles apart from the meter in the baby changing / disabled person facility but it wasn't really a problem.
Nice walks locally and the nearby golf club welcomes visitors for meals, although we didn't have the opportunity to try it out.
Convenient for Edinburgh and can recommend this site.

Had a two day stay at this site May bank holiday. Check in was quick and pain free. The staff on reception were very friendly, you can order rolls and papers for the next morning. There is also basic shop at the reception.
Every unit is shown to their respective pitch by the staff, all you do is follow the Golf trolley.
The Site is nice and well kept, Toilets were good and clean staring to show their age though only three showers and you had to pay 20pence for the privilege which isn't such a big deal.
Park was full of well behaved children who made very good use of the play park in the middle of the site.
I will return to this site again as it was a very peaceful weekend. Recommend you try it if you are panning to visit this area.

Everyone at this site was friendly and helpful, it's a beautiful, peaceful location, I had stayed there in 1992 and wasn't at all disappointed on my return.
The hook up is strong, the facilities good, with the best tumble drier I've ever used ! Whilst feeling really out in the countryside, it is in fact really handy for Musselburgh and for Edinburgh City centre.

Our main reason for choosing this site was its closeness to Edinburgh.
The route to the site was really easy, just remember to take your time going through the town as the priority lanes become tight.
When we arrived, we were shown to our pitch by one of the site staff. He was very friendly and very helpful in getting our unit in place.
The pitches were quite close together but nothing to worry about. There wasn't much room for the kids to play beside he caravan but that was fine as there was a playpark in the centre of the site which looked good fun.
The shop had the basics for food and camping supplies - and bread/newspapers could be ordered by 6pm the night before. The shop staff were very polite and helpful.
The toilets were clean and tidy and there were ample facilities. They are locked at night but you are given a key (£2 deposit). The showers were 10p but they were good electric showers and I got about 15 mins in mine. There is a cubicle for family showers which was good.
Just down the road from the site is the Edinburgh bus which was excellent. £3 an adult, £2.40 a child - for an all day ticket. The bus stop is down the end of a bendy lane which took 5 min walk during the day and 10 mins back at night but don't forget a torch! The No.26 runs every 10 minutes, the last bus from Edinburgh back to the site was 11.45pm - then 15mins past each hour throughout the night. Failing that the local taxi firm charge around £17 - £20 fare from the site to Princess street.
About 3 miles away is Fort Kinneard a massive shopping park and Walmart is also close by.
All in all an excellent site. We have just re-booked for next month and will continue to re-book every time we visit Edinburgh. Highly recommended.

Everyone thought we were mad taking a tourer to Scotland in February, they needn't have worried. We arrived around 3.30 in the afternoon and were promptly greeted and booked in. There were a couple of camper vans and and a couple of tourers already pitched and we were guided to our own hard standing pitch. The groundsman explained that due to the severe frosts they were only opening small areas and this in fact seemed prudent. The stand pipes froze and some pipes burst on our second night but this was promptly dealt with and we were never without water / toilets / showers in the main block.
The toilet block was very clean and despite temperatures of minus 4 degrees was still quite comfortable.
Laundry facilities were fine and reasonably priced compared with other sites we have used. Open from 9 til 9 in order to minimise disturbance to those pitched near the block. Pot washing facilities were also fine.
This is the first year Drummohr has opened during the winter and we're very pleased they did! This was excellent value for money for 5 adults, a tourer and awning on a friendly, well appointed site with lovely clean facilities.

Last minute holiday with my 2 children to pay a surprise visit to their granddad in Edinburgh and to be honest wasn't looking forward to camping this time of year. The staff were very friendly and suggested that I rented the 'Bothy' which cost about £7 more than pitching the tent and had heating, TV, Fridge, Kettle and toaster. What a fantastic idea loved it that much we stopped another night.
Playground Excellent, facilities very clean will definitely call again kids and I loved it
