Wow. A festival without music. We have never stayed at a site like this in over 25 years of caravanning and camping. Rustic to say the least, but what an ethos, and what an experience. Firepits actively encouraged - just grab one of the many car wheels on the site, buy a bag of firewood, and enjoy.

We paid £10 per night plus £5 for limited EHU, but got 10% off for being over pension age. Many rustic showers, toilets and washing up areas, but all clean, and well serviced.

Licensed bar on site and an honesty shop. Also piles of stuff to borrow if you forget anything. Sat by the bar last night when masses of food brought out, chilli, curry, salads etc. When we asked how much, we were told it was all free, just to get everybody together. Beer £3/pint. Squash and some pops, free for children.

Totally silent at night, and absolutely NO MUSIC. A bit like marmite. You love it or hate it. As for us, we just adored it. We will be back.

Could go on for hours about the wonderful attitude that seemed to be shared by all.

Maybe we'll choose one of the stream pitches next time.

Fabulous area to camp. Stunning views. We received a very welcoming reception from Neil.

There are 2 fields to the site, the quiet field and the very quiet field. You can pitch anywhere you like. We have 3 dogs so opted for the very quiet field and pitched on the boundary with oodles of space. The fact you can pitch where you like is perfect if like us you want that bit extra space. However, we did as the week went on ended up with neighbours on both sides and behind, but thankfully they enjoyed the peace and quiet as much as us. Apart from our dogs vocalising occasionally!

The quiet field had families with excited children who sounded like they were having a great time. So not so quiet! Looked to be plenty for children to be kept entertained.

The only downside to the site are the facilities. The 'Shack' in the very quiet field was beyond rustic. The facilities in the quiet field were a great improvement to the Shack, but having the dish washing area in the same hut as the toilet and right outside the loo door may be off putting to some.

We stayed Saturday to Saturday, it was busy in the quiet field over the weekend, then through the week much quieter. Thurs and Fri saw the arrival of more campers and the quiet field looked pretty full. The very quiet field was also busier and folk seemed to have clustered near together rather than make the most of the field. The streamside pitches looked great and quieter.

Wonderful wildlife through the night owls and foxes can be heard. Plenty of buzzards to see all day long.

We just back from there, I can't say more but was very nice! Perfect peaceful place! Many toys for kids if you forget some, even books! you can find there fire pits, cutlerys, wind protections.

Very nice attraction for kids was "Guinea Pigs city", goats, we feed them with cucumbers and carrots. You can find there much more animals like sheeps, Elvis the pig and turkeys.

There is also kind of shop if you need some necessarys and brilliant 'pub' with beautiful cold beer. Dr. Neil (owner) is very helpful and nice ! He is always around if you need any help!

I can find there toilets with soaps, toilet paper and paper towels, showers with hot water and sink to wash dishes with hot water as well.

Place that you don't have to worry about your forget something becouse if you does Neil will try to sort it out for you. 5 min by car to the nearest shop, many wild swimming places, restaurants around or you can just call and order food. Safe and nice place for to go with your family and friends! Definitely recommend!

Tons of space - nearest tent was 30 yards away and a bar on site.

Fires not only allowed but encouraged and firewood available @ £5 a bag.

Good to have a quiet and very quiet field

Was a little apprehensive prior to booking as few reviews mentioned about strict rules etc. This campsite is fantastic and we couldn’t ask for better. It’s chilled out with lovely views and is rather massive.

Campsite is clean, very relaxed with a bar and shop on site (both very very reasonably priced). We got logs and log burner at £5 a bag which we did not expect for them to sell so having a fire made things extra lovely.

There are farm animals and few toys for children on site which most of the children including ours seemed to enjoy. It’s a nice touch. We visited the animals every few hours and it was lovely.

Facilities wise, toilets were great and in the heatwave actually not smelly at all, showers less so as were weak but this was not so much an issue for us as we showered the day we arrived at home and stayed two nights. It’s a campsite at end of day so I did not expect showers to be as powerful as my own if you know what I mean! The site we were told will be adding more showers in due course which is nice.

Campsite managers and owner were lovely and very helpful. We would 100% recommend this campsite and we cannot wait to be back again as it’s a great meet point for all of us.

I said it once but saying it again. Cheers for a lovely weekend.

This campsite is beautifully situated, very welcoming & relaxed. You can pitch where you want to, aside from the limited electric hook up points. There are two fields described as 'Quiet' and 'Very Quiet' with the only rule being that no music is allowed. There are a few farmyard animals on site which might add to the appeal for young families.

So far so good. The downside to this camp are the toilet, wash up and shower facilities. These are, at best, rustic, but some would call them primitive! It seems that there is limited water and electricity on site and the facilities appear to be badly in need of refurbishment and cleaning!

All are unisex, made from adapted portacabins, with a mish mash of wash cubicles, toilet cubicles and the odd shower. Even if all had been clean and working properly there were not enough for all those on site.

The pinnacle of my site experience was using a toilet cubicle which had an open gap running along the side of the floor (2-4"wide). I could hear a deep grunting sound coming from nearby and realised that a pig was living underneath!

If you're happy to rely on Baby wipes, or you have a motor home or caravan with your own toilet & shower then this site will be good for you and offers exceptionally good value for money.

 Returned to Our Old Favourite.

Just as much fun as ever: If you don't see Neil, talk to Andy and Ann; there's nothing they won't do for you.

The site is as spacious and attractive as we remember, but the four toilet buildings are further upgraded. Still delightful, but fixed and improved. Clean, spacious and comfortable; some quite modern but all retaining their 'rustic charm' (and a few spiders). There's a toilet/shower building there to suit all tastes!

The whole place is still quiet and relaxed, still just pitch where you fancy, always well away from the next tent, under trees, by the stream, on the hill top (Such views!). No pitch lines, no serried rows of vans/tents, just plenty of room, peace, and green space. Campfires, everywhere, and still.

'No Music!'

If you like functional but soulless breeze block toilets, and sardine rows of tents/vans, with 'don't cross the white line' pitches, then, No, this will not suit you. It's not that regimented, but for us, we just say 'Good!'

The new Shepherd's Hut is a fine addition.

Stunning views and lovely quiet site. Children played all weekend - enjoying the stream and animals on site. Great value and plenty to do in this area although nothing in walking distance which was no problem for us. We had a complete range of weather from thunder and lightning, torrential rain to blazing sunshine. No issues at all.

As per previous reviews the bathroom facilities are very basic. Showers just trickle water and warm water ran out quickly. The toilets don’t refill properly and some of the locks didn’t work. I would be happy to pay more per night for the bathroom facilities to be much better.

Would def be back if the bathroom facilities improve it a shorter break.

Spent 2 nights there over the weekend of the 19 & 20 August 17. Neil the owner was very friendly and welcoming. You could pitch any where on the two fields. Camp fires are allowed and payment for your logs to be put in the honesty box. He also sell big lamb chops or a joint for you to take home. Site facilities are very basic. We will return next season.

A great site, no music (aside from the odd car radio as leaving/returning) and mostly quiet. As it was the school holidays there were kids in the 'very quiet field' that would utilise the whole field whilst playing with quite some enthusiasm! Still, I can't get annoyed at kids having fun in the countryside! There was some evidence of dogs not being on leads and the presents they left behind was a little frustrating. As someone who bought their dog camping, it's not too difficult to pick up after them!

That aside, a great campsite in a brilliant location and Neil is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back!
