We have just returned from our second visit in two weeks to this site - myself, my Husband, our dog in our four berth touring caravan.

Easy access to this site which is best approached from Monmouth town. The views from this site are beautiful and take in full panoramic views of three counties across open countryside from all angles.

As other reviewers have stated, this site is not for those who enjoy the hustle and bustle of a noisy commercialised site, but rather those who prefer the peace and quiet of a more natural environment.

This site provides both fire pits and bbqs for use free of charge, firewood is also supplied at a reasonable charge.

Facilities are very basic and rustic, situated in a small wooden hut. Two toilets, one shower, two outside covered sinks are also provided for washing up etc. , plus a small 'shop' which is simply an enclosed 'cupboard like' area with a cash tin where payment may be left for small essential items such as lighters, small gas cylinders, batteries etc. , at a cost of £1. 00 each.

A tap providing fresh drinking water is also located in this area. As this is a working farm, sheep and chickens roam in adjacent field which is separated from camping field by unobtrusive low wired fencing.

On our second trip a new addition arrived in the form of Elvis a simply adorable Vietnamese pot bellied pig who just loves a bit of petting by adults and children alike! Elvis is also situated in a small separate area adjacent to camping field.

This site has five extra large pitches, all with EHU - it must be said however that electricity is supplied only at 6 amp - which you must be aware will only provide minimal electricity supply.

We ourselves didn't find this a problem as we used our leisure battery to watch TV and used our own gas to power our on-board fridge.

At time of our visit, pitch with EHU was £10.00 per night or £7.00 per night if totally using own on-board facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits and loved the freedom of being able to sit outside in evenings by our log burning fire pit in total peace and quiet of this beautiful location.

We will certainly be making this site one of our regular 'haunts'.

If you want an away from it all break in a marvellous location then this is the site for you. The site Is large but much of the site is not level. We pitched by the stream and felt it was just right for us, at the top of a steep hill you can pitch for great views of the surrounding countryside. The facilities are very basic but adequate. The pound shop was a little lacking in produce which was a shame I was looking forward to fresh eggs for breakfast, don't go here in the school holidays if you want peace and quiet - you won't get it. And I was amazed that campers were allowed to Denude the surrounding trees for campfire wood. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the weather was good - would I go there again? Probably not but it definitely has it's attractions.

We stayed a few nights at this wonderful relaxed campsite in Herefordshire.

The facilities are basic and 'rustic', but don't detract from the charm of the place. The traveller's tree and 1 pound shop were a great addition.

Very reasonably priced, and a great location for exploring Herefordshire and Forest of Dean.

There's no kids play park - it's not that sort of place - but the kids enjoy the stream and exploring around. The owners also keep goats and our children were able to feed the kids (goats that is) bottled milk.

It's best to approach the site from the South to avoid a very sharp right turn, and it looks like you're driving into a field when you approach.

This is our 2nd visit to Meredith Farm and it really does not disappoint Dr Neil met us on arrival and gave us the choice of pitches, we decided on the one at the bottom of the hill overlooking the stream. There was no noise from anywhere it really felt like we were in the middle of nowhere such peace and quiet. As for the facilities I found them to be very clean and saw Neil checking them every morning. I also spent a peaceful couple of hours feeding the chickens with them gathering at my feet, I must say it was one of the highlights of my stay. I would recommend Meredit Farm to anyone wanting a nice peaceful campsite with the added knowledge that should you need any help or advice, Neil will be on hand.

Just spent a nice relaxed weekend at Meredith Farm found the site on the UKCampsite website and found the previous comments to be a good overview of the site, nice and quiet location, quirky facilities but everything has been thought of, the owner is a real gent and very helpful, have had a couple of very busy weekends of late and the laid back style of this site was just was the doctor ordered. Had a nice stone built fire pit outside the camper and sat there with my good lady drinking wine and chatting into the dark. Will not be my last visit here, great location for touring and a bus stop 100yds from the gate to Monmouth and Hereford (£9. 70 return for 2 adults). At £7. 00 a night also great VFM.

We stayed here for four nights with our dog. The campsite is in a lovely area, with lovely views to wake up to. It is very easy to find being just off the main road. We found the owner very welcoming and friendly and was helpful in recommending places to visit in the area.

It is a very big site with a lot of choice for pitches, we originally thought we'd pitch down by the stream which is very peaceful and secluded however the ground was a bit uneven so we decided to camp at the top of the hill instead.

At first sight the facilities appear to be very poor, there are only 2 toilets and 1 shower (which is free and with plenty of hot water) housed in an incredibly rustic shed. This is reflected in the price, however once you get over the initial surprise the facilities are perfectly adequate. The toilets and shower are clean and there is even a fridge which we found useful in storing milk etc. We also found the little pound shop an excellent idea and perfect for if you suddenly find yourself short of something. However a proper wash basin (and soap) would be very useful for having a basic wash in, as there is only a tiny one provided.

If you're the kind of person that likes peace and quiet and doesn't mind basic facilities this campsite is excellent!

While using UKCampsite.co.uk yet again for inspiration / reviews, I thought I should do some retrospective reviews for our few trips so far this year in return!

We stayed here in June half term. We loved it!

I would be careful who I recommended it to, as some would run a mile if they saw the 'rustic' facilities; but I think anyone with more common sense than pride would love it!

We really enjoyed the wide open space (and views) for dogs and kids to be themselves without disturbing others. Campfires in the evening made a good holiday fantastic!

The only downsides were the entrance (if towing you must approach from the south), the bogginess of the ground at the front of the toilet block, and the lack of a light in one of the toilet cubicles. We mentioned the latter to Neil and hey presto, within 24 hours a light

The electricity supply was a bit erratic, but that is all part of the fun, and it made me feel less guilty about being a spoilt caravanner on EHU when others were coping admirably in tents without any electricity!

The pound shop is wonderful, and small services like their being spare kettles to borrow, and cheap firewood to buy is great.

This site is not for everyone, but that's what I like about it! It keeps the high maintenance people out, and caters for those who love peace and nature and back-to-basics.

We found this campsite through this website and the other reviews made by previous campers. It didn't disappoint!

We have just returned from a bank holiday weekend stay at Meredith Farm and from the moment Dr. Neil met us on our arrival, until the time he wished us a pleasant journey home, we enjoyed our stay at the site.

We opted for one of the 5 or 6 stream side pitches at the bottom of the meadow camping field which was away from the majority of other campers. The ground was a little nobbly but we pitched the tent with ease on the area allocated to us. The dogs enjoyed the stream and meadow grass to roam in and we loved that the site had so much space for the dogs so we didn't feel we had to tie them down all weekend.

The facilities on the site will not be to everyone's standard; They are rustic but fully functional. I had a lovely hot shower if only a quick one on Saturday evening. When the site is full (like we think it was this weekend) you have to pick your shower and washing up time to ensure you get hot water though.

We thought the honesty shop for fresh farm eggs and homemade jams plus other camping essentials was a lovely rustic addition. And all the walks and local information provided was a real help to us as first time visitors to the area.

The site is located between Ross and Monmouth which was useful and both towns were nice for the little visits we made to them, and even more importantly located only minutes drive from the River Wye and a few miles more from the Forest of Dean.

If you are looking for a quiet, rural base camp for your outdoor adventures and don't mind basic facilities then this will be a great site for you. And for £7 a night you really cant go wrong!

It won't be for everyone cause it is very basic but we loved it. If you don't like spiders (and I don't and so to had to be very brave) then the very rustic loos may put you off.

It's one of the very few campsites I've come across where you can light a campfire and they even have a little pound shop where you can buy eggs fresh from the farm. They supply odds and ends for loan if you forget yours like a Kettle, Mallett, sleep mats and you can get other essentials like candles and toothbrushes from the pound shop if you need them. You can buy a crate of wood for £4 for your fire or you can scavenge anything burnable from under the trees. The entrance in is quite steep on a tight turn and it's gravel so care would be needed if on a bike but if you like to camp the old fashioned way you can't beat this site.

The owner is lovely and very helpful. Fantastic that he trusts his guests with honesty boxes and just lets you get on with it. The only extra thing I would strongly suggest you take is firelighters and a torch, and some beers of course. The pub is quite a walk away and we never quite made it as too busy cooking sausage, egg and beans on the campfire and toasting our mashmallows.

Fantastic! :-)

This is a very friendly rural site with beautiful views if you camp at the top of the hill or secluded if you camp near the stream at the bottom of the hill.

The facilities are basic but quite sufficient and clean. There is a pound shop with basics like eggs and candles and plenty of brochures and reading material.

It is not far from Monmouth which has good quality supermarkets and local shops. The best bit was the beautiful views and the friendly relaxed atmosphere.
