First time with our new tent, a little 3 night adventure, last minute booking - Neil was very accommodating, lots of variety of pitches to choose from (by the stream is definitely recommended - we had a great time down there!) choice of amenities to suit, fire pits, logs, everything you could need - oh and entertainment form the range of animals kept on site - great for the kids. We took the dog too, she loved lounging around outside the tent under the trees. We will definitely be going back for more camping there.

Thank you Neil for making it so easy to camp with you.

Ian, Laura, Beth and Poppy the dog.

Just perfect. Peaceful site, with great views and a relaxed feel. Facilities are very basic, but they do the job and they are clean. Neil and Andy make great hosts with useful local knowledge. Being allowed camp fires on your pitch is great and enhances the camping experience. Ross on Wye is within 20 minutes and if the weather is good a walk to the top of Garway Hill rewards you with truly amazing views. We have stayed a number of times and keep coming back.

We loved 'the ethos'. Relaxed and unfussy. No Music; No Noise; children show some respect. Pitch wherever you like after discussing with Neil and relax by a fire. No pointless rules just 'please show considerations to other campers'. Loads of space so we were never too near other tents and there are some pitches by steams where you cannot see any other people at all.

Ten toilets, five showers and four washrooms are everything that could be needed. Some old and rustic where you might have to evict a frog (or share with it!) and some new ones of standard good enough for home. Good flow of hot water. Good Electric connections as long as you are not silly with high speed kettles and hair straighteners. Fabulous views, trees and streams. Best sky in the world. Wild rabbits everywhere, (so some innocuous droppings). Not manicured lawns with marked out pitches, so if that's what you like, then it's not for you. Just natural countryside, with tame goats, pigs, ducks chickens and guinea pigs.

Like the other reviewers wrote, this is very much an authentic campsite. A friendly open space where fires are allowed and you can camp very much where you like (within reason). Good views of area.

You do need transport to get to and from the campsite as there are no services locally. We did a nice walk from the campsite to the pub, which was about a 6 miles round trip.

Facilities are very basic. The shower trickles. There is electric hook-up yet not enough to boil water in the van's kettle. We could only use the electric for lighting in our campervan. Makes you wonder why you've paid for elc hook-up. It is a good site yet I don't think it's worth £25 per night for two adults and two children when the toilet and shower facilities are basic and we didn't have enough electric to use the kettle.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Meredith Farm. The campsite is very laid back and 'rustic'. The animals were popular with the children and adults alike. There was a lot of space for the children to run around and they spent many joyous hours making friends and playing in the large tree in the quiet field - climbing and swinging. We would return for the wonderful tree alone. This is just the sort of site we like - a return to basics, with the children making their own entertainment, and campfires to sit around. No music is allowed on the site - which again suits us very well.

The site is ideally based for access to all areas of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and plenty of activities.

The owner was very friendly and laid back. The price was very reasonable.

The one downside for us was the cleanliness of the toilets/showers. We aren't particularly fussy but would like them to be cleaned daily and for bins to be regularly emptied. If this was done, we would return regularly as the rest of it was idyllic and would have given 10 out of 10.

Spent a lovely couple of nights at Meredith farm, Facilities would be described as rustic however this is just the type of place I like. Beautiful views, large campsite with only a few pitches so lots of space, The animals make the site a bit special with Elvis the pig being a big hit. For a little extra you can stay in a little 70s style caravan (which we did) which is fenced off and very tranquil.

We had a really great holiday on the farm and Neil is most welcoming and helpful. The facilities are good and unique to the site, with a lot of space for the children to explore and play. It is also well placed to visit a range of different attractions in both England and wales. We will return if possible

We've been back again; this is our main site.

Suits us perfectly! Can't stop talking about it!

Love the animals - yes occasional droppings but very minimal and well worth it.

We find the power excellent. Not intended for high wattage hair straighteners or large electric heaters, but for fridge, lights, battery-charging, TV, camping kettle, etc, it is perfect. Definitely is 'fit-for-purpose' as long as you remember what the purpose is.

Sure, sometimes there is no toilet roll, but that's because someone took them! Let Neil know and he's there immediately with another batch - even scented.

The new shower and toilet building is great, but for ourselves we still love The Old Shack, more. Always plenty of hot water when we are there.

New arrangements for two fields are an improvement.

A Quiet filed, but allowing nice children's games.

A Very Quiet field with no games. Good move.

We'll be back soon.

Well it is very obvious that this site has a substantial amount of fans and I can see the attraction after spending 3 nights there. Whilst there are many positives, there are also a number of negatives which ultimately would mean we would not return. Just to say we are not fans of Caravan Club neat and perfect 20 caravans in a row style sites and prefer laid back and relaxed sites which are a little rough around the edges!

Positives

This is an excellent site for children with a great play area, hamsters, pigs and other animals for the child to watch and enjoy.

Beautiful views from the site.

Happy and laid back vibe around the site

Good value eggs and other produce for sale.

Lots of lovely areas close by to explore

Stacks of space for you to spread out and for children to explore.

Owner was helpful and friendly

Negatives

The electric hook ups were not really fit for purpose. A number of campers seem to be having problems with the electric tripping. One camper told me that due to problems with the electric she was not able to run her fridge.

Shower was the least powerful one I think I had ever used. At one point it was running at a dribble.

Problems with temperature of water - my wife had a cold shower on the last day.

No toilet rolls in the toilets on a number of occasions.

Shower and toilets were very rustic which is not necessarily a problem, but they did not seem to be cleaned whilst we were there.

On different times no toilet role in the toilets.

Due to animals a substantial amount of animal poo on the field.

Whilst none of the negatives were in themselves hugely significant overall they did just take the edge of what could be an A1 site.

Amazing site to experience the country idle and still have so much around to go and visit. Do not expect a lively site as there seem to be two main rules no music and relax. Nigel your host has created a farm campsite where you can overlook the beauty of the countryside and be close to nature with farm livestock at your side.

This is a classic farm campsite with basic facilities which I would expect to be a bit stretched if the site was busy. However there is plenty of space with grand views and a couple of tent pitches beside a stream which with the freely available fire braziers make for a superbly atmospheric pitch. On the site there are sheep, goats, pigs and guinea pigs to meet. Some rope swings and small play area for children to play. Basic provisions and loan kit is readily available via an honest box system.

In the area is the wealth of activity of the Wye Valley. We managed a trip to Ross on Wye, cycling from the Forest of Dean cycle centre and canoeing on the River Wye. We had a hike from the campsite to Symonds Yat, if you consider this be prepared it was a twelve mile round trip. There are other attractions around Coleford, visiting Monmouth, Tintern Abbey and a whole lot more.

There are supermarkets in Ross on Wye which is about 20 minute drive, there is a pub open in the evenings and weekends a country mile walk away. If you are in anything bigger than a car approach from the South to make the turn into the campsite. On arrival you have to call Nigel who will come out and meet you and charge you a very reasonable rate.

I have to say this is a super laid back site. If you want to experience a piece of beautiful British Countryside this is a destination to make for.
