Spent just a couple of nights here, The approach road gets a bit narrow but we were lucky not to meet traffic in or out. The site was nicely laid out, tidy and very peaceful. The site owner was friendly but not overbearing and pretty much left us to it once we had picked a spot. The toilet and shower facilities looked a bit tired from the outside but were clean and well maintained inside. The water pressure in the showers was a bit low but adequate and required a suggested 50p donation for the use. The river is just a short walk and the shops, cafe or boat hire a further 15-20 min walk along the river bank. Ate out at the Greyhound at Hickling, good friendly pub good food.

In all a nice out of the way site for a quiet getaway.

Stop 12 days at this lovely thirty pitch site. The pitches are all on grass which is close cut and very level, quite a few children on never heard them only seen them playing. I never use the toilets or showers but I had a look and they seem very clean, large pitches with trees dotted around with three drinking water taps close by and skips for rubbish. Quite a few folks had canoes with the river so close by so they were making the most of the good weather and paddle from morning to night. Nearest shop was in a garage mile and a half away which seem to sell a bit of everything, no idea where the nearest pub was as I don't frequent them. Potter higham could be reach on foot along the river bank at a guess about 20 minutes but as age has caught up with me I use the car. Yes this site is a gem with all Norfolk got to offer on its door step. I had no moans or complaints whatsoever and I left very happy and vow to return one day

This is our favourite site. Flat, clean and spacious. Toilet block immaculate and always hot water. Local walks along the river takes you to all amenities. Owners are so friendly and are on site. Dogs are welcome and there are some lovely walks. The river fishing is great and only a short walk away.

Just returned from a very pleasant stay at willowcroft. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The facilities were fine although 2 washing up sinks may be a benefit.

The walk into potter is a pleasant walk although the only pub there is closed down so there is not a pub within walking distance as the other walk into the village is not suitable for a late evening walks a it is through a dense wood or back of reeds from river

The only other thing to note is that do not book this site if you are mainly wanting a fishing trip as although the river is only 2 minutes away it is very hard to get a decent spot as it is used for launching boats meaning parked cars take the space up and a very large goods barge was parked across the full jetty for the full week.

There is plenty of information in the wash room on local attractions.

Just recently returned from 3 night stay at Willowcroft. Left it very late to book after waiting on weather forecast and what a bonus that they were able to fit us in.

Lovely small site, well kept with lovely clean facilities plus wash up room containing a freezer. Pitches a really good size all with EHU. Small trees and bushes to mark boundaries with some pitches incorporating a picnic bench. Low fees make this site an absolute bargain.

We were there with our young dog and it's imperative for us to have good places for us to walk her off the lead and this site ticked all of the boxes. Nice walk across fields (30mins) or river (50mins) to Thurne and walk along river (20mins) to Potter Heigham Bridge. Pub in Potter Heigham along with cafes open during day and pub in Thurne. What the pub in Thurne lacked in fancy furnishings it more than made up for in the friendliness of staff and comprehensive menu.

Every morning we drove to Winterton-on-Sea (10 min drive). Wonderful dog friendly beach. Wide sandy beach with a cafe to die for. Really well worth a visit if only for the cream scones !

Really can't praise the site enough in all areas and we will definitely be back

We booked to go here for 3 nights in June. We have never been to Norfolk Broads before so we didn't know the area at all. The owners sounded so nice on the phone so we were so sorry that we were unable to find the place! I had printed out AA directions and we were doing well. We saw the brown campsite signs to Bureside and I expected the next ones we would see would be for Willowcroft, brown sign or otherwise. When we came to a No Through road there was no indication of a campsite down it so obviously we didn’t go down it. We later phoned Jim who said that it WAS down that No Through road and that the council constantly chopped down the signs that they put up when they cut the hedge! We drove round the block and through Thurne twice and after about half an hour we gave up. The roads were narrow and there was nowhere to turn round. We ended up going to Caister on Sea! We noticed when we drove up the main road a few days later that a sign was put up. So for future visitors –yes it is down the No Through road!

I have a rule never to visit the same caravan site twice. BUT. For Willowcroft I am happy to make it an exception. The site is well laid out and has a good atmosphere. The facilities were of a good standard, of sufficient number and always clean. The owners Kandy and Jim, a lovely couple are obviously caravaners themselves and run the site as a caravaner would want it. We selected the only fully serviced pitch but would have been happy on any of the other pitches. In fact, at the moment. The sole fully service pitch is right next to the facilities. (I think Jim is considering increasing the number of fully service pitches in future). However water point are in several places around the site and within a few yards. Finally, excellent location for visiting Norwhich, Great Yarmouth, Cromer etc. Potter Heigham is about a 20 minute walk away and Larhams store has a wide selection of food and goods. We really enjoyed this site.

Arrived to be greeted by owner. Very nicely maintained site, small and clean. Toilet/shower block clean and well thought out. Very pleased with site overall and would recommend to anybody wishing for a tranquil stay. Very close to the river with Potter Heigham bridge about a mile hence. No shop, but shop at Potter Heigham if you cant live without one. Lovely helpful owners.

A lovely, efficiently run and informally managed small site in a quiet location in the heart of The Broads. Friendly, helpful and caring owners live adjacent to the site which caters for tourers, motorhomes and tents. Pitches have 16 amp hook-ups and there is an up to date, well kept facilities block.

There are walks from the site including along the riverbank to Potter Heigham or Thurne with plenty of boating activity to watch en route. The coast with sandy beaches, Broads with walks, boating and charming villages and Norwich and Gt. Yarmouth are all within easy driving range. Food shopping and fuel are also nearby.

We are already planning our return.

A lovely little site, really pretty with excellent facilities ranging from picnic benches to magazines to borrow and fresh flowers in the shower room. We were there over a really hot couple of days and the way the site is laid out provides natural shade as well as evening sunshine.

Potter Heigham is a pleasant 20 minute walk along the river bank. Potter Heigham is a practical rather than pretty Broads village but there is a bar and cafe and shop and its a good place from which to hire a day boat.
