A lovely peaceful site, within walking distance of Castleton (approx 10 mins walk). The site is easily accessible from the main road, luckily we knew where this site was, as our Sat Nav tried to take us up a tight country lane!
The toilets are kept lovely and clean, hard standing pitches with electric hook up, some are shaded by tall trees, so you need to pick your pitch carefully on arrival so as not to miss the full sun.
The wardens are helpful and friendly and the site is neat and tidy. Castleton has pubs, restaurants and loads of gift shops and cafes to suit all tastes, the walking is fabulous and there are so many routes to take, all in easy reach of the campsite, and have fantastic views.
There is a playground for children, but cannot comment on this as we did not have children with us to check it out, although there were many children on the site, enjoying the site on their bikes.
Overall a great site, in a fantastic location.

Our second visit to this lovely site. Changed the name since our last visit. Good toilet block, warm showers and privacy cubicles,
Friendly staff and pleasant site, great views,
Easy walk into Castleton and Hope. Bus stop not far from site. If you wish to travel further, lots to do in Castleton with caves, a castle, coffee shops and restaurants.
A small grocers in both towns and newspaper shop. My OH must have a paper every day
Cannot comment on TV reception as we do not have one, but our mobile phones were Ok.
Will be back again for the lovely walks.
Cannot comment on child play area, but plenty of dog friendly pubs with food and a small dog walk.

Recently spent a week at this site over the Easter break.
Castelton a 10 min walk and has most things you need inc. 2 very nice pubs: the nags head and the bulls head both great food.
Hope village a little further, about 20 mins with shops, fuel etc.
Facilities maybe not the most up-to-date but perfectly fine and functionable. We had good reception on the TV and wiFi.
Wardens, well some more hospitable than others.
Location is superb, beautiful walks and lots of them, what a fantastic area if you like getting up the hills for a day or just a morning.
You should definitely follow the well- detailed caravan club directions
Weather, typically British but that's what we expect! We has a brilliant week and will be regular visitors here whatever the weather!

We stayed at this site as an overnight stop on our way in to Yorkshire. I had been pleasantly surprised to find that there was still a spot free for Easter Sunday (or 'Easter Day' as it seems to be named nowadays) when I had booked only a few days before as my usual experience with CC sites has been that you are lucky to be able to make a reservation for busy times so close to your visit.
The site is fairly level with hard standings all around. The facilities are good and up to the usual CC standard. The heating in the toilet block was turned down to a more acceptable standard than the usual 'blast furnace' temperatures of CC sites.
The only slight downside is connected to the wardens. The female warden was great - nice and chatty, helpful, etc. The male warden, presumably her husband, wasn't quite so friendly. He wasted little time in complaining to us about how inconvenient our arrival time had been (we arrived at 18:30, as we had previously arranged when booking) and told us to report to the office the following morning to settle the bill. I duly turned up at 10:30 (if I recall correctly) to be grumpily told that they were just off to clean the toilets and so I couldn't be dealt with at that time. He then suggested that his wife would sort the payment out with me, which she proceeded to do. 60 seconds later the transaction had been completed.
Maybe he was just having a bad week.
All in all though, a good site with a location which is handy for many of the attractions of that part of Derbyshire.

Visited the end of March for 4 nights in what turned out to be a fabulous sunny break. First impressions was that this was a smallish site on a slope with certain areas feeling a little cramped, so ended up in a shady spot that was pleasant none the less.
Facilities though clean, seemed a little dated but all was of an ok standard. Nice views of the hills on the upper levels, a lot of road noise at the bottom end.
It's the location of this site that makes it a winner with walks of all types in every direction. A very popular site with people who enjoy the outdoors. We did a couple of 10 mile walks, the one around Derwent Edge was particularly stunning.
Had a nice meal in the Old Nags Head in the village. Visited Lyme Park (NT) the Goyt valley & Stannage Edge.
Hard to complain with weather & scenery such as this !

Located between Hope and Castleton this site provides ideal base for exploring the Hope and Edale Valleys.
Good sized hard standing pitches with plenty of space between units. Very helpful and friendly site wardens (temporary ones looking after site during our visit).
Central facilities block, adequate but slightly dated for Caravan Club standards. Laundry and very useful drying room next door.
Games room with table tennis and pool table, although no other children’s facilities/play area on site (i. E. Not child friendly). Good TV and WiFi reception.
Great walks (almost) directly from site, cycling and lots of mountain bike tracks. Busy main road outside the site.
Surprising well stocked Spar at Hope (if a bit pricy) plus butchers/farm shop, veg shop and post office.
Lots of dog friendly pubs in Castleton offering quite good food selection and live music/quiz nights if that’s your bag.

Don't trust Sat Nav - Plan you route using CC website - we got very lost and ended up taking a very difficult road down through the hills was not suitable for caravans. I almost passed out I was in such a panic that was after going on various single track farm roads and our friends having to do a 3 point turn in the village - silly us we usually plan things better !
Site usual high standards town was a little quiet but OK for short weekend trip. Very dog friendly pubs in the village.
The surrounding views are fab, stock up there's no big shops in Castleton to buy supplies.

Visited this site for a 2 night weekend break, very close to Castleton within walking distance. Having visited many CC sites, we found the site was up to the normal standard. My only gripe would be the surly wardens, upon arrival we were given the normal instructions, the warden then said 'make sure you keep to the speed limit of 5 miles per hour'. My husband and myself are both in our early 50's and have never needed this advice before as we are quite capable of reading the speed limits. My nephew was following us with his tourer which he has recently purchased, this was to be his first experience of a CC site. We set up the tourers, my nephew found that he had no electricity the switch had tripped, so he went to see the wardens to inform them and ask for the box key. The warden told him that they would have to set the electricity. My nephew and his family with 2 young children then waited patiently for an hour and a half before returning to ask the warden if he could come and sort out their electricity. The following day we had visitors, who were staying for 1 night, I was quized by the warden about my visitors which again I accepted quietly. When my visitors arrived within 5 minutes the warden was there to say that it is only 1 car per pitch. Again we were aware of this as my visitors were simply dropping off their belongings.
About 10 minutes later the other warden appeared and said 'move this car to the visitors area NOW. My visitors car was parked adjacent to the van and not causing any obstruction. My nephew asked 'are the CC wardens always like this'? I explained to him that normally they are really friendly happy people who enjoy their work and are usually helpful to all their customers.

This is our second visit to this wonderful site, the first time we battled with the weather, this time everything was perfect,
We managed to do all the things we couldn't do in February, walked up to Mam Tor, fantastic views from the top (if a little windy), we walked back over the ridge towards Hope and then walked back down into Castleton to partake of a lovely meal and couple of very fine Beers in the Peaks Inn!
My husband even managed to cycle up Wynnats Pass (I managed the old road that has collapsed, not quite as steep).
Still lots of things we didn't manage to do this time, which means we'll just have to go back again and again and again!

After a few concerns about the roads getting to the site we had a great three night break.
Approaching from the North via Sheffield both the A57 and A 625 are very easy and well sign posted roads for towing on with nothing of any note to phase anyone.
As expected the usual CC standards were found with regard to facilities,( why do they insist on putting the shower heads at shoulder height )¸
The wardens managed the 48 Sunday arrivals with great professionalism and the only stipulation was that the van was parked central to the peg.
Have to say that the pitches were a little tighter to what we have become accustomed to on CC sites but were still more than adequate for our 4x4, van and awning.
The site itself is in superb location set between the villages of Hope and Castleton with the latter boasting six pubs which all served food, several caves, great walks on your doorstep.
Have to say we spent several hours in the hostelries of Castleton all of which were very welcoming and friendly.
We had a fantastic meal at the Poachers Arms in Hope on the final evening, ten mins stroll from the site well worth a visit.
One of the must does for me and the misses was the Great Ridge walk form the site via Hope, Up to the top of Losehill, Back Tor, Hollins Cross, Mam Tor and culminating in the stunning Winnats Pass, it was well worth the climb with stunning views of the Hope and Edale valleys and the pass itself was superb.
Other places of interest included Chatsworth, Bakewell etc less than half an hours drive away.
We enjoyed this trip so much that its on of few sites on our list of must re visits
