2nd timers to this site (1st June 08).
Site is very clean and tidy, pitch sizes are good, wardens are very helpful.
They state TV Poor but it should say TV almost non-existent. I tried with boosted ariel, then a digibox and finally a 66cm satellite dish and receiver - with no joy except for a 4 second burst of a station with dish/receiver then lost all signal.
Going forward if stated as TV Poor then we won't be stopping at those sites.
During the day we walk/hike but in the evening it is good to relax and watch some TV from time to time.

Firstly I think the site needs a bigger sign at their entrance we actually missed the turn in and had to do a u-turn.
This was our first trip to a CC site. I was really impressed. The wardens were welcoming and we parked up and walked around the site to find just the right spot.
There are hard standing pitches, which helps to avoid flooding. Plenty of room between pitches to park up next to your van and put awning up. Electric hook ups. Plenty of lighting of a night time and a very quiet site. Some pitches next to the road where a bit noisy because of the very busy road.
The toilet blocks were immaculately clean and the showers were hot, although lacking in a bit of water pressure, but adequate. Individual wash rooms with a basin and hair driers. Also power points to plug in your own hair drier.
Plenty of taps to refill your water barrels and empty waste water. There is a wash room to wash your dirty dishes and prepare veggies. Also a drying room to dry wet coats, boots, towels etc.
There is a laundry room with washing machines £3 a wash and driers, although we didn't use these facilities. A family room with a table tennis table and a pool/snooker table. A small play area for the kids, but I felt it was a bit too small.
There is a small copse that is used for the 'dog walk', which is basically somewhere to empty the dog.
We put up the satellite dish and had good reception and got loads of channels.
Turn left out the centre and you will find some shops about 5 minute drive down the road, Spar etc. A Chinese and Indian takeaway not far up the road. Also a camping supplies shop.
Ten minute drive to Bradwell there is delicious fish and chips to had. Cooked fresh while you wait
Plenty of places to walk and visit. Although we went in July and the dogs weren't allowed off lead, cos of sheep everywhere. We did get lost in the mountains, so buy a local map.
Would I visit here again? Well if there were no sheep to be seen and the dogs were allowed off lead, a definite yes.

This site is lovely, a walkers paradise.
It has well drained, level, hard standing pitches, facilities always clean with the showers always hot. Everywhere is tidy and has an air of peace about it.
There is a small dog walk, small children's play area a drying room and a family room that I assume anyone can use if they wish.
There are many walks from the site, Hope is a short distance and can be reached via the road with foot path all the way, or by public footpath accross the fields. There are a few pubs and a cafe, and one or two shops.
Castleton is a short walk away with quite a few pubs that serve food. There aren't many shops there other than jewellery and gifts, though they do have a post office and general store.
I feel the site is more suited to adults as there is not much in the area for children unless they like to walk.
This time we walked via Hollins cross to the top of Mam Tor which is worth the climb for the views.
Another place I would reccommend is Cave Dale, it's a magical placeand a lovely place for a picnic, which is signposted behind from the road at the back of the church. If your feeling energetic you can walk up Cave Dale accross the meadow along the limestone way and back down Winnats Pass, the views are stunning.

Losehill is a brilliant little site and is set in the beautiful Peak District National Park
The site is open all year and the pitches are all hardstanding to reflect this, they are all of a good size, however some are closer to the road than others and some traffic noise is evident.
The reception doubles as a small shop with milk eggs etc and newspapers to order.
The facilities on this site are top class with a never ending supply of hot water in the powerful showers and the blocks kept pristinely clean. There are the usual Baby & toddler and disabled facilities; the washing up area is small but adequate.
There is also a drying room on this site to take care of your walking equipment after those not so nice days.
An information room gives you the low down on all the local attractions and also has information on the local pubs and restaurants, if in doubt ask the friendly Wardens they were only too pleased to help.
There is a children’s play area on site and also a small dog walk for our four legged friends.
There is a small convenience store in Castleton and also in Hope village and a good few pubs that serve mouth watering food at reasonable prices.
The site is a haven for walkers due to its location, but is also ideal for families as there is much to do in the local area with Pevril Castle and speedwell cavern just a short distance away.

Arrived after a scary journey in the dark down Winates Pass ( not suitable for caravans aaaaaagh )This was due to using our new Xmas pressie - Sat Nav ! So be careful how you approach .
Wardens friendly giving us a nice welcome and we soon settled in . Toilets , showers immaculate.Other facilities looked great washing / drying room for a longer stay. Local shops quite close by in Hope. Lots to do in the locality but we opted for a walk in the Edale valley and a wander around Castleton, lovely day.A little gem of a site and we will certainly be returning , just not down Winates Pass !

We stayed at this site in October. Weather ok. Brilliant site, toilet and showers always kept immaculate. All hard standings. Staff very friendly, great site for walking and plenty of dog friendly pubs in Castleton. Will definitely be going back. Thought the drying room was really good for drying off wet walking gear. Cannot fault this site.

Although this was a very wet week in September are pitch stayed well drained. Although next time we would make sure we weren't parked under a tree. The toilet block was kept very clean and the dry room was very handy!
There is plenty to do in the area, some lovely walks even for the not so fit. We took our bikes and had a nice day out riding around Derwent Reservoir.
I am sure we will visit this site again hopefully in better weather.

Just spent 10 nights at this site and enjoyed every minute of it. Lovely wardens friendly and helpful. Morning papers can be ordered at the office. All pitches are hard standing and most look fairly level. Toilets and showers were well maintained and kept clean. There is an information room where other visitors have left comments about places visited. There is a laundry room, drying room and games room, also a small play area for smaller visitors. Hope is about 7 minutes walk with a spar, deli, caravan shop, post office and 3 pubs. Castleton is also under 10 minutes walk, there is plenty of places to eat annd drink here with fantastic scenery, however, no shops for essentials. There is plenty to do and enjoy what ever the age is this lovely part of the world. We will most definetly return to this site.

This was our first outing as caravaners.
Stayed for 2 nights. The site is very well maintained and the wardens very helpful.
The toilet block was immaculate. There was also a laundry room with iron (didnt use) and a veg preparation area (didnt use), both were spotless and well used.
The clean water, waste water, waste and rubbish bin areas were well kept.
There is a dog walking area, the site had a lot of dogs which was good as our BeagleX is very sociable :)
The towns of Hope and Castleton are a few mins away and we visited both, lots to do and see. Would recommend stopping for tea and scones at the 3 roof cafe in Castleton (opposite the main car park).
This site is thoroughly recommended, definitely 10/10.
