Arrived a bit earlier than 12 midday so the friendly receptionist suggested we had a stroll around the site to pick a pitch. All pitches are hardstanding surrounded by trees with views of the surrounding hills. The site was fully booked for the weekend and didn't appear that much emptier throughout the week, despite which, there was never a queue for the toilets or showers which were kept very clean - my only gripe was on occasions the flow from the showers were very poor. This is fantastic walking country with many walks from Castleton so no need to take the car out every day. The village is a gentle 5 - 10 minute stroll with a good handful of pubs and a post office come small general store. The Cheddar Cheese Inn and The Peaks Inn Hotel have previous mentions on these reviews but worth noting that they are both dog and sprog friendly. There is a Spar shop in nearby Hope for essentials. Would recommend this site and will be returning.

Just returned from this site after a wonderful weeks holiday. It is up to Caravan club standards with the usual clean toilets and showers but that should be standard for the price of these sites, I think the two clubs are a bit over reliant on that feature.

The pitches are gravel, level if a bit dusty in the dry, there was no problem with utilities all water points/bins, disposal, toilets are close. The site is very clean and tidy. I thought the pitches were a bit tight, with a car, caravan and awning there really is no room to sit on a bit of grass or find a spot top barbecue on some pitches. The regulation gap exists but with popularity and commercial pressures every space is now a pitch and caravan movers make every spot a possible pitch. Pitches 80/81 take up a position that otherwise would leave every one with space in the central area. I would like to see a bit more room and some privacy considerations on sites when laid out. This site is reliant on good standards of cleanliness and location which is excellent but for me there was no 'Wow' factor for this site.

The nearby walks, pubs, towns and attractions make it worth visiting. I do think the UK sites lack some of the on site relaxation of the better low key French sites though. Overall a good well run site but for me with two young children the absence of the play park or a space to play even an adjacent field detracted from an otherwise good site.

An excellent site, well maintained and with a location second to none. Lots of walking from the site to suit all abilities. An easy 10 minute walk into Castleton with independent shops, pubs, cafes, and an outstanding Italian restaurant which has recently opened. There is an ATM in one of the pubs and also a Post Office that offers a cash facility to most bank customers. The Peak District Visitors Centre in the centre of Castleton is an ideal starting point to obtain local information. Weather very cold when we visited but wardens gritted paths at first sign of frost/ice and washblocks lovely and warm.

We have just returned from a long weekend at this wonderful site. The facilities are excellent just as described in other reviews, spotlessly clean and the warders are helpful and pleasant. Castleton itself is a lovely village, unfortunately the weather was against us for the whole weekend (very windy and raining much like the rest of the UK this particular weekend), we therefore didn't get to cycle and walk as much as we would normally have liked however, we did partake of the delights of a couple of the pubs, the food in the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese inn (the first pub you come to in the village) was lovely for our first night and we celebrated my birthday in style in The Bulls Head, outstanding 3 course meal and excellent value for money and service (try the smoked haddock on spinach in a cheese sauce, gorgeous)! another nice pub, spotlessly clean was the Peaks Inn, didn't try the food there but will next time, and last but not least we had our final cooked breakfast at the Nags Head, lovely! We arrived home on Monday and have booked to go back again in November and hopefully April! Hopefully the weather will be better, we have already planned our activities. This site gets booked up really quickly so book early.

A change to the usual patten, I stopped at Losehill CC Site by myself for 2 nights while my Land Rover was being serviced nearby.

Upon arrival the Wardens greeting was polite and ensured I was informed where everything was while paying for my stay.

Entry / Exit is controlled by barrier key fob.

All pitches are of the hard-standing all-weather gravel but not all are level. Most pitches North of the shower blocks requires some form of levelling.

I stayed at top of site so was not aware of any noise from the road nor driveways. Ducks were my only source of noise and this was much welcomed as they walked past the van.

There is currently no playground, BUT there is A FAMILY ROOM WITH A TABLE TENNIS AND A POOL TABLE provided.

This family room is much overlooked but well worth the visit and knowledge that it is there.

The shower and toilet block is older than most of the CC sites that we have become used to, but I had no problems whatsoever here and everything was in good working order and far better than some sites I have stopped at.

The dog walk on site is just that. A short walk provided for last and late night / urgent walkies. Losehill is set amongst the High Peak and so naturally have vast amount of walks from the site entrance onwards.

Cannot comment on TV reception as I choose not to bother with the TV.

Hope and Castleton villages are 20 and 15 minutes walk away while Hope railway station is 30 minutes walking from the site.

I love Losehill CC Site and will be returning with my family. The sites was always clean and tidy and the Winter Wardens very good to talk too and made my stay a good one.

3G mobile Broadband signal was average to good while Vodafone mobile signal was excellent.

Will I be back? It's already booked!

Currently my favourite site very clean very quiet. Castleton 10 mins walk, excellent pubs, quiet shops. Various local attractions all worth a look. Other cc sites should take note. Icy when we went but wardens kept paths clear and gritted. Keep up the good work, best site we've been on. Satellite reception can be poor on some pitches so ask before you pitch up

We stayed 2 nights - site very busy even on a Sunday night in November only 5 or 6 empty pitches.

Pitches all hard standing and wide enough for caravan, awning and car. Site fairly close to the road, some road noise but not too intrusive. As expected immaculate toilet / showers - usual CC standard.

CC advise tv reception poor - but we found it very good when tuning to analogue.

Warden very friendly and checked us in quickly and efficiently.

As previous reviews have said very handy for both Hope and Castleton. At £15 with ehu we thought good value and would stay again.

We have stayed here a couple of times over the last year and love it.

All the usual benefits of a cc site, nice friendly staff, clean and spacious pitches toilets and showers very good as are the dish washing and veg prep areas. There is a small shop in the reception area offering the basics,

Lots of information for exploring the area.Castleton is around a 12 min walk away offering great shops and pubs

Excellent places to walk with the average taking around 3 hours (phew)

Will be visiting the site again around Christmas time (cant wait).

Stopped 5 nights, toilet block wash facilities all excellent but that's what you would expect at 20 pound a night. Play ground was shut down but it was only as big as a caravan plot and the dog walk was about 4 times bigger.

Every wednesday chip van comes. Wardens great. You can walk into castleton and hope, hope is a little further takes 15 mins very small. 3 pubs post office spar. Don't go early though, walked there one morning to fetch paper and loaf got there at 7am paper shop not open till 7.30 spar not opn till 8am !

castleton 10 min walk 6 pubs post office tea rooms couple food shops small village lacks a proper cafe in all great for say 2 nights unless you are a walker, closest supermarket 7 miles away so stock up as spar not cheap.

Just got back from this lovely site. Beware- make sure you park your unit properly otherwise you will be asked to move it (car, caravan in the centre of the pitch, awning in that order). Large pitches and plenty of water taps and waste facilities.

Also a proper room for dish washing, not outdoor with inadequate roof. Washing machines and driers and a mother and toddler bathroom.

Would certainly have been disappointed if camping with children as the advertised play ground is being upgraded and there is absolutely nothing there for kids. As already stated, the dog walk is next to a busy road and along with lots of sites it is really a token gesture. Having said that the whole area is a walkers paradise so no real problem.

A fantastic site otherwise, shower block is warm spotlessly clean and large enough to prevent queues.

Fantastic base for seeing the Peak District, Castleton a short walk away with plenty of pubs most dog friendly. The nearby caves and caverns are a must to see, Lady Bowater reservoir, Chatsworth house, Bakewell, Eyam, Dovedale etc. So much to see, scenery fantastic. Have been lots of times to this area and will go back again and most definitely back to this site
