We stayed at this site for May bank holiday weekend & had a lovely time. The park is entered by a security barrier where you pay £20 deposit for a swipe card. The park & zip wire kept the kids entertained and there was plenty of other children for them to play with. The clubhouse had a lovely friendly feeling of being in your local bar, the kids enjoyed watching the karaoke & playing bingo. The toilets were spotless (although some reviews say there is not enough showers I never saw a queue! ) and there was also a laundry room & pot wash & food prep area, again all spotless. The site feels very secure & I felt safe to allow my children to wander freely. All in all a lovely site that we will definitely be visiting again.

Stayed 2 days on what was classed a super pitch at a cost of £25 per night. The hardstanding consisted of what I would class as nothing more than builders rubble, rubbish all over, bits of brick broken slabs and pipes.
The drainage point was placed at the highest part of the very steep pitch so the drain was unusable. The fresh water taps were fitted with what looked like second hand bath taps, very untidy botch up indeed.
The on site access road to pitches again was very rough and bumpy. Grass had not been cut for a while.
The general placing of pitches was very close not much space between vans at all.
Can not recommend the overpriced super pitches on this site. Not to mention the long list of priced extras.

Just returned from a wonder holiday in beamish the site was beautiful and clean. The toilets/shower were the best I've ever experienced on a campsite and we have toured Europe. Staff really helpful and friendly.
The bar on site had all of our favourite tipples the only unfortunate part was I didn’t win the bingo. (maybe next time) ;-)
The play areas entertained the Kids for hours even through the rain, so much so they want to go back.
If you are planning a visit and you enjoy a leisurely stroll you must wonder through the woods. One of the few places I ve seen a Red Kite!
Fantastic site, definitely going back. I wish there were a more around like bobby shafto's.

We have just returned from a lovely Easter weekend break at this site and enjoyed every minute. When we booked we explained that one of our family uses a wheelchair and were allocated a pitch close to the shop and the toilet block which was great.
Throughout our stay we found everyone to be really friendly and very helpful.
The toilet and shower block were clean and were entered via a swipe card system. The showers are activated using a token which can be purchased from the shop for 25p and were hot and lasted a long time. There was a dish washing area near the toilets and a food preparation area which was handy for people in tents.
The club house was brilliant and we spent our evenings chatting to other guests and enjoying a game of bingo. The singer on Easter Sunday had everyone joining in and up dancing and the atmosphere was amazing.
The play area near the club was well used by the kids (aged 10 and 5), as was the zip wire and the fenced off football area. We visited Beamish which is very close to the site and a lovely day out for all.
The shop provides leaflets with a 25% discount on the entry price. A family ticket without the discount was £46 but you have unlimited visits for a year.
We took our dog and made the most of the nearby woods for long walks.
Overall this was an excellent family site, well run and full of friendly faces and we will definitely be returning.

I went here with my 4 children and we all had a great time. The toilets were clean and everything was well signed so we didn't spend ages looking around for things.
The park kept the children happy which is a plus! ! This is quite a small site but the people are really friendly and helpful.
The one thing I did not quite agree with was they charged extra per person where as on some sites for a motorhome its just one fixed price.
I'm new to all this and a single parent so every penny counts. Will go back again though.

Recently returned from a 2 night break at bobby shafto. Got to say that from our initial arrival to our departure, our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We experienced a warm welcome at reception, who as well as locating us to our pitch, shared a wealth of knowledge with the goings on in the surrounding area.
Our pitch was lovely. A great level surface with super views across the countryside. The kids loved the space for them to run around and play in, along with the play park.
The evenings were spent in their clubhouse bar. A great night was had, lovely friendly atmosphere in a family friendly environment.
The toilet/shower blocks were fine too. Very clean and ample hot water for your tokens. Overall this site was spot on for us.
Very tidy, Helpful and friendly staff, a safe site for the children to play and superb location for exploring the local amenities.
Already re booked for Easter weekend and looking forward to the entertainment in the bar.

My partner and I visited this caravan site this month and being quite new to caravaning, this was the 5th caravan site we have visited. The shower blocks were of good value at 25p for a token that gives you 7 minutes of warm showers and was clean. The site of the caravan we were given was on a slope and it was very difficult to place the caravan in the pitch, so we requested a new pitch and got it as it was off season.
The Site it'self was nice however we never visited the clubhouse so cannot comment. The let down for us was when we arrived before the entry barrier we had to park the car/caravan in a very very small one car place only, then one of us went to the shop to get the swipe cards. We personally found the reception was not very welcoming towards us.
As we were there for a family event (reasons for being in area) 3 members of our family came to see the caravan as they were staying in the area. They parked out front and I went to greet them. I can understand this may have looked as though we paid for 2 of us and sneaking people in, The reception called me in and I had explained they were only there for 5 minutes. He stated it was £4 each?!? for visitors and TWO were children. I paid the £4 only and my family only dropped something off for us, total visit was around 15 minutes and I had explained to the reception it was just a quick visit. Of course we never that £4 again. I was glad not to pay £12 for three people for more than 5 minutes. This was not stated on the Bobby Shafto website to our knowledge.
All in all the site was okay. We just felt it was not as welcoming as other sites and service with a smile would have been nice after a long journey.

This site is fantastic in location especially if you are visiting the Beamish Museum. It is a walk up a hill to the top where the museum is located, but if you are generally active this is a nice steady walk. The site is situated in a nice dip of a valley. However the site itself was not all that quiet. There was no time limit on noise and we were kept awake quite late by other campers/caravaners making noise and being very loud into the night. We visited the clubhouse to play bingo on one evening but we actually felt lie it was going into a local pub and being new people in the village. It seemed everyone knew each other and we didn't feel that welcome. I wouldn't go back to this site again myself, but it was a reasonable stay and like I said suitable if you want to visit Beamish.

We stayed at this site for 4 nights as it was the nearest to relatives that we wished to visit. We had not read any of the reviews. They are charging Caravan Club prices for a below standard site.
The pitches are small and the hardstanding is rubble, as is the service road around the site.
There are only 2 male and 2 female showers- inadequate for size of site. The showers are coin operated and run for far too long-there is no way of stopping them. A complete waste of water!
Nice location, close to Beamish Museum, probably fine for families with young children, but wouldn't recommend it for people who like quiet sites with good facilities.

This is the 2nd time we have used this site, yet again an enjoyable experience.
The location was perfect for us as we were able to visit different area's. We went to the Metro Centre, Sunderland Air Show, Tyneside Market and also saw the Milennium bridge move.
Staff are very friendly and helpful.
There was plenty of space for the children to play, which included a park, football area and a zip wire.
You had to purchase a token to shower which was 25p for 7mins, I feel that more ventilation is needed in the shower block as it was damp and got dirty very quick after been cleaned.
There is a on site bar which is friendly and clean and a game a bingo on the weekend.
Would book again.
