Fantastic location, fairly quiet site, a walk away from a pub and tea room lovely owners that came around regularly

Didn't mind the cold showers as we were visiting during a heatwave.

I felt the facilities let the campsite down, there were queues for showers at peak times, only two toilets, and only one sink to wash hands.

This didn't feel like enough for the amount of people in the camp site. Luckily the national trust toilets are 2 minutes away

Really brilliant site, we love a proper basic campsite :) Great location and lots of space. The tricky access down a long narrow twisty road with few passing spaces could be very difficult for large caravans and motorhomes. It felt OK for our tiny caravan.

We had booked hookup but that was in a rather enclosed separate part of the site so we decided to go for the main field which has lovely views and other sociable campers. We only really needed hookup to charge the batteries for our electric assist tandem and the very helpful site owners looked after that for us each night for a small charge.

We have our own toilet/shower tent and it really paid off, the site toilets and cold shower were definitely under pressure in the peak holiday season. We can survive off grid very well with a solar panel to keep the lights on and gadgets charged.

Excellent walks on the cliff tops, ideal for our little dog who was in heaven with the open spaces, racing around and meeting other dogs on the beautiful beach and children on the campsite to make a fuss of her.

We had good bike rides to Angle and Stackpole Quay which both have good cafes although West Angle was overwhelmed by people at the Bank Holiday weekend so it wasn't the best experience that day. There's also a very good cafe and shop in the walled garden at Stackpole and the Stackpole estate is an interesting place to wander about by bike or on foot.

All in all a great campsite, run by nice people (they frequently drive round the site in their old Land Rover mainly to be sociable and have a chat with everyone). We are going back this year.

We have just got back from a wonderful week long stay at Trefalen farm campsite.

It’s hard to review properly without being quite wordy but I will try give a breakdown of our experience.

Booking and communication:

Communication from the site owners was excellent. Emails/text on booking with directions, info and site rules were very clear and then again a few days before our visit.

Location:

This is real jem of a location.

It is literally a 2 minute walk to Broadhaven beach, in my opinion the best in the area. It is simply stunning.

Broadhaven is a beach and nothing else, no shops, ice cream etc, however there is a national trust toilet block at the beach entrance.

Pembroke town is 10 mins drive away, Tenby, Saundersfoot both 30mins drive and freshwater west (Dobbys grave) 15 mins drive.

Access: the road to the site (the last mile or so) is very narrow and twisty. If you have a big outfit it is a bit of a gamble with traffic coming the other way (the national trust carpark at broad haven can make this busier than you would maybe think), there are “passing places” but for a car and caravan it is tight if you meet someone at the wrong place.

Facilities:

The facilities are very basic.

For caravans and motor homes there are a handful of electric hookup pitches that can be booked, however it is a 6 amp supply and the site rules forbid use of any domestic appliances. That is no electric kettles, microwaves, grills or heating (unclear about this, 6 amps gives you about 1400 watts to play with so maybe heating set at 500 or 1kw might be ok depending on other draw), definitely no hairdryers etc.

For us this wasn’t the end of the world as it was summer (no heating required) we have gas for water heating, electric was only used for the fridge and lights (more about this later).

The electric supply does not have a fuse/trip that you can reset at your pitch connection, I imagine if it trips off you have to speak to the owners to reset it and it most likely trips other guests supplies too, so it isn’t like you can use trial and error to see if you are drawing too much power.

There is a basic toilet block with 2 toilet cubicles plus a single unheated (cold) shower for both men and women.

It was kept clean and tidy.

No toilet rolls are supplied in the toilet block, you have to bring your own.

Fresh spring water stand pipes are available near the entrance and toilet block, the site wasn’t busy and it we never had to queue for anything.

Cost:

For us (2 adults, 3 small kids, 2 dogs in a caravan with awning on electric hookup) I thought it was on the dearer side.

However, this is because the cost is tallied up for the car and caravan + number or adults + an amount per child, dog, awning, electric per night.

At £364 for 7 nights this is definitely not a £20 a night CL.

However, we knew how much it was going to cost when we booked it and apart from the electric supply, we knew what we were getting.

If you like luxury or at least hot showers, maybe give this a miss, it’s not that kind of place.

Atmosphere: This was a friendly site, the owners and other campers were friendly and it had a very relaxed feel.

It is not a party place, the rules on the time fires must be out etc are clear and enforced.

Again, everyone there knew this and it didn’t seem to upset anyone.

Summary:

The fantastic location is a real winner and if you are happy with very basic facilities then this is a wonderful site.

I personally feel that for us the cost was a bit higher than it would ideally be with the facilities as they are.

Better electric supply and warm showers would make this an amazing site.

However, we had a great time and would go back again.

Absolutely superb location - right on the cliff tops and minutes from an incredible beach and very close to the lily ponds!

Massive field so felt like there was lots of space between pitches.

Basic facilities but we were prepared for this so it didn’t bother us and had everything we needed.

Lawrence and Marcia were excellent hosts and the campsite was the perfect spot.

It has a great view of the sea and the landscape, as well as being 10 minutes walk away from a gorgeous beach.

The loos and shower were well kept and clean and the campsite was organised so everyone had plenty of room.

We felt welcome as first time visitors, and it's clearly a well-loved site as many of the other visitors were repeat holidayers there.

If you are self catering, the co-op in Pembroke has lots of provisions and is 15 minutes drive away down some narrow lanes, but the nearby villages also have some delicious options for a bite to eat.

 I loved this campsite!

It was lovely and quiet and only a stones throw from an amazing beach.

Nice to have access to spring water.

There is mention of a freezer for ice packs but I wasn't sure where that was?!.

We all had a great time. It felt safe for children. Thanks very much 😊

 We really like trefalen farm.

Unfortunately we couldn't make the 1st week.

But we took our cat on the 2nd week and she's right at home.

We only use the water and waste as we are pretty self sufficient.

The field is clean, quiet and we usually pick the same spot, its right next to the car park and at 5 in the morning cars are coming into the car park which is annoying.

They don't seem to realise people are sleeping on the other side of the hedge. That's my only grump.

The beach is close and beautiful.

Our hosts are lovely Marcia and Lawrence.

Wonderfully situated being very close to Broadhaven beach, the coast path and Bosherton Lilly ponds.

The site is spacious and generally flat. The grass is well cared for.

The facilities are simple but kept clean and are adequate.

This is our second visit this year and we will be returning very soon.

Second visit here, we absolutely love the place, so peaceful, friendly and beautiful.

Unfortunately had to leave 4 nights early due to illness, absolutely gutted!

We will definitely return, would stay all season if we could!

What a beautiful campsite, you can’t get a better location in west wales! 5-10 min walk one way to broadhaven south, other way st govans/Newquay.

The facilities are very basic, toilet block, washing up area, cold showers and owners will freeze freezer blocks for you so prepare yourself and bring a solar shower or brave the cold.

Owners like you to spread out in the field so don’t go too close to anyone else and they patrol the campsite a couple of times a day but are very pleasant.

Will definitely be returning
