Located just a few minutes walk from Gretna so ideal for proximity to registry office if you are marrying in the area. Shops and take aways also close by and Gretna Inn about 10-15 minutes walk.
The Gretna Inn is dog friendly and food very good with friendly staff. The site is adequate with good toilet/shower facilities (showers 20p) and quiet considering location.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and walked off site - this is strictly enforced.
Staff did advise of a location we could take our dog to for walking off the lead (about 10 mins walk away) otherwise not really a good area for dog walking.

We booked here as we visit Gretna every year for our anniversary, and this is our 1st year with our caravan. We had a service pitch which was fantastic the site is lovely and clean and friendly there is plenty of birds and rabbits to see, it was just so nice to be able to take out 2 westies to there home countries, we went to the Gretna inn pub at the end of the road it is about 20 minute walk and dog friendly we had some lovely meals highly recommend the haggis topped steak, we visited the blacksmith shop where we got married and there was lots of weddings taking place Gretna is a lovely place to visit and we will be back to braids next year 😀

We used this site as a stop over on the way home. It's easy to find, £17. 00 per night £5. 00 deposit for the security gate & toilet key. Reception was very nice clearly explained where everything was & also offered discount vouchers for eating out. Toilets were clean, 20p for using the shower the ladies hair dryer was out of order. Good area for washing dishes. There are warnings about over loading the electric but if your sensible (not plugging everything in at once) then it works fine.
Gretna shopping outlet is a 10 minute walk from site & plenty of places to eat. We used The Gables Hotel right next to the site (10% discount voucher obtained from reception) food was good & good price.
We couldn't fault this site for a stop over it's great & will hopefully use it again.
Probably not suitable for kids as no playpark.

Stopped overnight on our Scotland tour. Showers good and clean, 20p in meter allows plenty of time. Pitches a little small but adequate. Reception very helpful. Gretna 10 minute walk, and Gretna Green about 3 mile away. Wouldn't stay here for long as little to see, but would certainly overnight again.

We spent one night on this very convenient site specifically to visit The Devil’s Porridge exhibition in nearby Eastriggs. We would not class Braids as a holiday destination in itself, although several caravans appeared to be there for the season, but as a functional site, useful for activities in the area or as a stopover in transit to elsewhere.
Having said that, Braids provided everything we look for in a good site: an electrical connection, very clean toilets, showers and washing-up facilities, quietness and pleasant staff.
Thoughtful touches included site and local information leaflets in English, French, German, Dutch and Italian in addition to a range of brochures from nearby attractions.
Thoroughly recommended.

We stayed here for one night in order to have quick access to the M6 on the way home. It is within walking distance of the town centre and is within a residential area.
The main pro for this site is its shower block facilities (although showers were 20p). They were very clean, modern and well maintained. Each cubicle had its own sink area which gave you privacy, and there were ample surfaces and mirrors.
The pitches were fairly close together but this is a town, not a country campsite. Lots of electricity points and good washing up area.

Stayed overnight at this site on our way to tour Scotland for 3 weeks nice quiet site toilet block was OK and had plenty of hot water, did not use shower.
Nice walk to shops small supermarket for papers etc. We went to the Gretna Hotel good food and beer. Did not make it to Gretna Outlet centre or village itself, a bit too far for OH to walk
Seemed a very busy site and the staff were very friendly and helpful
Noticed a bus stop outside the camp so if like us you leave the van on site and take the bus to different places, would be OK
Saw a couple of wedding receptions in the local hotels
Will use again as a stopover.

Easy to find. Near to Motorway. Owners are friendly, and we found, prepared to be flexible and very helpful.
Toilets clean and adequate; I liked the individual handbasin in each trap.
Showers, 20p, clean and adequate.
Site fairly small, well maintained and nice. Ideal for stop overs and lay-by.
We toured to Vindalandia and other 'Wall' locations. The former is a good 50mins away with light traffic.
There's not much in Gretna, but what there is is in easily walking distance. Ideal for stop overs, reception open until 9am in summer. Good security; is there a reason for that?
Some people clearly use the 'pen' for caravan storage.

Site very easy to get to.
Pleasant owners.
Very clean toilet blocks, The central block is lovely, but I can't work out why they are cleaned at 9. 30am, when at that time of the morning they are in demand !
Bad points:- If you have a dog forget it, no on site walks, you will have to walk along the main road.
If you have kids forget it, no ball games etc.
This sit is in the middle of a housing estate, no views what so ever.
Hard standing pitches, hope you get on with your neighbour they are that small.
This site is only any good for a 1 night stop over

My family and I have just returned from a two day stay at this campsite. I must admit it is not what we were expecting and were disappointed.
The owners were really friendly and the facilities were clean but this is more a stopover site than a weeks holiday site. There are no views other than waste ground and the surrounding houses that border the site.
There is no play park for kids of which we have two but the fact it was quiet and our son having made pals to play with we decided to stay for the two day break.
Showers were 20p for approx 7 mins of hot water, watch what you plug in because you will more than likely trip the electrics.
You have Gretna Gateway on your doorstep practically and many places of interest nearby, this would be a great site if you wanted to see the surrounding area but not if you want to admire the view from your caravan.
Handy if you are travelling and just need somewhere to park to get some sleep on a long journey, I would thoroughly recommend it for this purpose.
