To be fair, we visited this site during the worst weather of the summer! However, we were disappointed. The site has no hard standings (not mentioned in the brochure) which is essential for all weather use. The pitch we were referred to was waterlogged, so we had to find our own relatively dry one. This was uneven, sloping and had been well used by the many local rabbits! We were a distance from the one and only water tap, and a slow water supply at that.
The waste and toilet water disposal was very poor and in need of maintenance. The shower block was reasonable, though again in need of maintenance and on the Sunday night that we were there was in a filthy state. This had not been cleaned by 1030am when we left.
I can imagine that at one time this must have been a pleasant site but the owners seem to have given up on maintenance and by modern standards is inadequate for today's caravanners. Neither is it particularly cheap. On the plus side, it is well located and easy to find, and very neat to Elvaston Country Park, a real gem of a place.

Extremely Accommodating at very short notice, sat nav takes you straight there and a good selection of shops, chinese x2 one selling fish and chips, somerfield, newsagents, betting office, pub are close by, however hard ground for pegs 2 showers although people forget to mention they are FREE & kept Clean. And thankfully you can more a less pitch where you like. There are a few unsightly things on site ( random brick structure, caravans that look to have been sited for years), but I'm sure it's an up and coming site an had No niggly Problems.

Stayed two nights to try out a new tent. Although the 'facilities key' shows they accept dogs, we were told that had we phoned first they would have refused us with a dog in a tent, they only allow dogs in caravans!
The tent field is small and it was a challenge to find an even pitch, however it is close to the toilet block and pot washing room. These were clean and well laid out. There were only two showers for the whole site, but this didn't cause a problem as it was fairly quiet. Some paper towels in the toilets would be good.
Shop on site didn't sell fresh items, such as milk, but Borrowash is only a short drive up the road, where they have a good selection of shops and take aways.
An ok site.

I like to give a site the good bits and the bad bits!
Good points- Very welcoming, clean site. Toilet block and showers always clean, go-karting, and fishing lakes at an extra charge, close to attractions.
Bad points - Nothing for the children, only 2 showers for the whole site, shop closed more times than open and did not sell milk etc!, elsan point very basic and poor. Nothing to dry hands in toilets,
If you are couple and enjoy fishing this site would be ok.
Overall I would use again if I struggled to get anywere else.

It was a brilliant fishing break the tiolets and shower block was lovely and clean we stayed in one of the log cabins which contained all our requirements and they were exceptionally clean and lovely to stay in. We shall return back to this venue next year as the short break we had there was so relaxing and the owners were so friendly and welcoming.

Had a brill bank holiday weekend here, 4 vans and 2 tents. Kids loved the gokarts and the fishing. There is a tackle shop on site too. Really friendly the owners, Colin lent us a power suply so we could have a party in his beer tent- brilliant for when it was raining. 1 mile down the road is the Harrington Arms pub, good food and a beer garden. Only one thing you could pick up on is more showers and club house. It would be perfect then. Booked again for end of May weekend, also got lodges for rent.

Booked here last Easter and booked early for this one to make sure we got in.
The weather was 'challenging' but apparently some of the rest of the Country was worse.
Many improvements since last year, including 3 more Log Cabins and another lake (making 5).
This site is tidy, well laid out and clean! If it continues to grow, it will need more facilities, although currently the toilet block seems adequate and is certainly one of the cleanest we've come accross.
This site is brilliant for families or couples and is centrally located.
We will be revisiting in the near future.

Just returned from Easter break. Did not find site as well equipped as stated in reviews. Just 2 unisex showers for the whole site (could not get either hot) On the Saturday night had power outage and no one on site to deal with this, luckily we managed to find the power box and trip switch ourselves. Would also suggest that if booked on site fishing would be free, one family with three young boys had to pay ten pounds. Well equipped Somefield five mins up road

Have just spent a fantastic weekend here. Site is lovely & quiet. Kids loved the go karts, although it could do with a play area. Very reasonably priced. Pleasant owners, had a fantastic firework display & BBQ. Booking for next year!
Shops are all close by, as is Elvaston castle. Hubby will be bringing fishing equipment next time.

Visited this site many times and will continue to return. The site is usually kept in a good clean state with showers, toilets and washroom facilities. There are ample electric hookups, with fresh water, waste and chemical toilet disposal point.
Although there is no particular children's play area, there is plenty of room for them to play. There is an on site shop for the daily necessities. Go-karts are on site which is great fun for the youngsters.
Fishing on the site is plentiful and there is a well stocked tackle shop on-site. We were recently there for the Beechwood Junior Open Angling match which was run superbly. My son had a very enjoyable evening. Even food and drink was provided for the measly sum of 2 pound (this included entrance fee to the match)!
The site seems to suit families who are looking for a relatively peaceful time, although we have seen plenty of couples and groups who use the site as a base.
Noise has never been a problem here, even at busy periods.
Elvaston Castle Country Park (large country park) is within 5 minutes walk. 10 minutes walk away is the village pub at Thulston which does excellent meals. 5 minutes drive is the village of Borrowash which has all the necessary amenities (supermarket, pubs, take-aways, etc).
If I were to be super critical of the site, then more water and waste disposal areas would be better, with more bins around and hand drying facilities in the toilet block.
Other than that the owners Colin and Sharon are great friendly people and have a great site. Look forward to being there again very soon.
