We hadn't been back to this site for at least a year due to our house move so were delighted that Tom and Sue had space this weekend. It was just as welcoming and just as peaceful to sit and watch. We work all day talking to people so to just sit and be relaxed was just what the doctor ordered! despite the rain we had a lovely time and we booked to go back next month. Cant wait!

Thank you for saving our weekend, We were turned away from a neighbouring site as our booking allegedly was not recognised by the owner although a phone deposit was taken some 4 weeks previous. So it is thanks to the site owner at Grindley Brook who allowed us to stay at such short notice. The site itself was a fantastic little place 5 pitches overlooking the the top lock at Grindley brook wharf. The Lockside Cafe just a 2 minute walk away, great coffee and great food, a pub and shop(garage forecourt) just a 10 minute stroll down the canal Such a lovely site owner and a very clean toilet/shower block. We will almost certainly be returning there again. Thanks again for saving our weekend.

Wonderful peaceful site with very friendly owners. Next to canal with cafe, pub and shop, within 10 mins walk. First time there have booked for 2 more visits in September. Motor homers club site so open to members of any club. There are 2 fields 5 hook ups in each 6amp per pitch only but sufficient. Very pleasant stay we will visit as much as possible. Thanks Tom very nice man, made us very welcome.

Wonderful relaxing campsite. The owners are great. The pitches are thoughtfully arranged so as to minimise being 'overlooked' by the next unit. Plenty to see on the adjacent canal and locks. Pub, shop and cafe all within easy walking distance. Have just booked another visit. Second of many more to come we hope.

This is our 1st holiday of season, we go every year, We like the peace and quiet, and love sitting by the canal, The owners Tom & Sue are very friendly and helpful, no they don't like visitors, but this hospitality has been abused in the past, you can always meet visitors in the cafe, you can observe the site from there, there, s some lovely walks, and pubs in the area, nobodys mentioned the blue bell, go by car, lovely old pub, your made vety welcome and the food is all home cooked and yummy, this site is always on our list, you must book. Enjoy.

Was told about this site by a colleague and decided to give it a go. So glad we did, it is a little gem of a site, with 5 pitches all with their own electricity points. The site has separate male and female toilets both with WHB and one shower which is in the female toilet and costs 50 pence, no hardship considering the pitch cost.

The site is right on the canal next to the canal lock staircase, next to which is the lockside cafe, a nice cafe to have a snack, cuppa or both.

Walking out of the site and down under the bridge takes you along the tow path and to the Horse and Jockey (about 5 minutes) where they welcome 'children, dogs and muddy boots' and has a good selection of real ales as well as a nice menu typical of a gastro pub.

Further along the tow path (about 40 minutes) is another pub the Willey Brook which is also good.

Tom the owner of the site emphasis is on peace and quiet and can't do enough to help.

We loved it so did our two dogs, who slept like logs all night after walking all day.

Whitchurch is within a good walking distance along the canal and we would definitely recommend it and will be going back soon.

Stayed on this beautiful site for a week, it is in a perfect spot, I even sat and did my first painting of the lock. Tom couldn't do enough for you, so helpful and friendly. The toilets were spotless as mentioned before. The shower was a 50p coin and lasted 6 mins, sounds short but its plenty of time, also nice and hot too. The surrounding area is lovely, we ate a couple of times at the horse and jockey which was really nice. If you get the chance to stay here please do so. I highly recommend this site, and will def returned again soon.

In common with most other reviewers, we had a lovely stay at this site. The views are great, facilities are spotless, and the owner is friendly and helpful. The grass on the camping field is well-mown and the field is nice and flat. There are plenty of good walks, and a nearby pub with very good beer and decent food. It's an easy walk into Whitchurch along the canal bank. Only slight down-side was that there was some, slight traffic noise from the A41, however it wasn't too intrusive. We will definitely visit this site again.

Simply wonderful location with a fine outlook over a lock but also a big ugly shed which we found ourselves just 6 feet from.

Showers were fine at 50p for 6 mins but the shower room and toilet rooms were unheated and was freezing to go into.

No grey waste point for motorhomes so was advised to empty in the hedge, not easy in a motorhome so used a nearby lay-by on the way home instead.

I asked if it was ok for one guest to come and join us for a pub lunch and offered to pay and was advised yes no problem but then afterwards was 'told off' as 'we don't allow guests' which I thought was pretty rude.

Lovely walk to Whitchurch and the other way to a pub but other than that little else to do but lots of fun to be had watching boats in the locks.

Dogs just fine and they could run loose in the field next door but we were later told the field was not owned by the site so hope it was ok to use but as ever we were careful to pick up our doings.

All in all a great location for a weekend but no longer but due to the cold shower room and the lecture we would not visit again.

There are several campsites at Grindley Brook but this one has the best location right on the canal. The others appeared to be directly on the A41. It is not adult only but it is not recommended for young children due to the proximity of the canal and lack of facilities.

It is a small basic site, with 6amp EHU, a couple of toilets and a shower. We did not use the toilet/shower facilities so can't comment. There is a little road noise but it was not at all a problem - and we live in the heart of the country and are light sleepers.

Owner extremely friendly and helpful. £12. 00 per night including EHU. No hardstandings. The location cannot be beaten as you can sit on your pitch and watch the canal boats go past. Great walks and cycle rides along the towpaths.

Whitchurch is about 2 miles on towpath and footpath - quicker on the road but very busy with heavy lorries and why would you want to go that way on foot or on a bike when you can go traffic free and scenic. Whitchurch is quite a nice little town.

Tried the Horse & Jockey 5 minute walk the up the towpath from the site for a meal the first night - o. K. But nothing special so we ate in the second night.

Garage opposite the pub has basic supplies and your morning paper. Also the Lockside cafe and shop is adjacent to the site. Site was not well signed - if you are heading North on the A41, the entrance is on the left 20m past the large cream building 'Grindley Brook House', take the second of the parallel drives where there is a small sign with a picture of a black caravan on it.

If coming from Chester the drive is on the right just after you go past the Lockside Cafe and over the canal bridge. Had a very enjoyable stay and would go back.
