My Wife and I have visited this excellent site 5/6 times this year, it has now become our favourite site to visit.
The facilities are very good toilets clean and tidy at all times.
The site is ideally situated at the top of the staircase locks and as an ex canal boater (Angela-Louise) it still keeps me in touch with my often missed boating days (once a boater always a boater at heart).
One small alteration would be for the elsan point to be updated, ie flush or hose pipe adjacent.
There is a bus stop at the bottom of the drive with direct access to chester or Whitchurch free for the over 60s.
Tom & Sue are the ideal owners, very friendly and helpful.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at this very pleasant site. Situated right next to the canal, we were greeted by the friendly owners and shown to our pitch.
We had EHU and our own water tap. 2 separate toilet blocks and showers, all spotlessly clean and despite it being a busy weekend no problems in getting to use them.
Home made cake for sale in the reception area. Lovely walks straight from the site, along the canal path which will either take you straight into Whitchurch, or along to the Willey Moor lock where there is a pub.
There is also another pub across the road from the site, we didn't visit but looked nice.
Children not allowed on site which meant it was very peaceful! Not too far from us which made it an easy trip for a quick weekend away, we hope to return, thanks for a lovely stay.

Had a great, stay on this lovely site. Toilets and wash facilities basic but spotless and first class. Excellent location by pretty canalside setting very dog friendly and the owners couldn't have made us feel more welcome. Carry on the good work. Would definitely use the site again, great value for money. This is the type of site which makes camping such a pleasure!

Great little quiet site. It has 6 amp max hookup. The site is well maintained and planned (max of 5 units) Had to use a leveller of about 5 cm rise so no problem there.
There are two toilets one with washing facilities and one with shower, both are kept very clean and stocked. Dogs obviously have to be kept on lead but can be let off to run around in the adjoining field.
The walk along the towpath to Whitchurch (to the left) took about an hour, turning right takes you past the locks but after 20 mins walk the towpath becomes overgrown and difficult to walk any further without getting nettled or brambled.
Booking this site was easy and organised, we will definitely return later in the year

We have just returned from the wharf caravan site. Reading the other reviews we have to agree it is in beautiful surroundings, quiet and peaceful and the ideal bolt hole for a relaxing break. Facilities are basic, but clean, and the site very tidy. It is excellent value for the price. However, we took our 11year old grandson and his friend and there is no play area available for children. Had we gone as a couple it would have been perfect but with children it is a no go for us.

We spent some very happy time here when we were between houses - living in our motorhome - moving from site to site. Tom is wonderful - so friendly. The view from the site is interesting - watching the canal boats going through the locks. The nearby shop/cafe is fine - a good place to meet all your newfound friends (campers and canal boaters) for a chat. The walks along the towpath are also good. The shower/toilet on site, though just adequate, requires some bravery however - as it's cold and very basic. Best to use your own facilities! Entrance to the site is narrow - you wouldn't get an American rv up there - but ok as we had quite a large motorhome ( 7 metres) and managed it. All in all I'd recommend it for location & friendliness - but not for caravan club type comfort!

Just returned from our second trip to Grindleybrook and loved every minute of it.The weather did help, but a beautiful part of the country at any time of the year.Tom the owner as usual was friendly and helpful plenty of activity on the canal.Really good food at the Lochside cafe and friendly staff, and lots of good walks from the site.Plenty of good places to eat in Whitechurch, can be reached by walking along the towpath or the main road(not as bad as it first appears once you are past the roundabout)

This site is fabulous. Stunning location been situated on the canal at the top lock of grindley brook staircase. A small pleasant friendly and quiet site with plenty of walks. Clean toilets and shower block and dog friendly. Lockside cafe sells the essentials and news papers. Horse and jockey pub serves meals all day at a reasonable price nearby. This is one site that we shall continue to return to again and again this is a great spot for full relaxation.

This was our second stay at this quiet, well kept and friendly site.
With only five units allowed, there was room for everyone and space to spare.
As a narrowboating couple with our own boat (NB Excalibur), we particularly enjoyed the lock-top location of this friendly site.
It is situated at the top lock of the Grindley Brook Staircase of locks ( Staircase locks mean where the bottom gate of one lock is also the top gate of the next lock).
Our Staffie, ' Alfie ' who is also an avid narrowboater, enjoy his new walking territory with all it's countryside smells and FRESH air.
The site permits dogs on leads and under control.
There is a shower unit at 50p and toilets, all of which are kept spotless, as well as an elsan disposal point. It is also equipped with 16amp hook ups which is ample for any caravaner's needs and there are plenty of water points.
If you are energetic, Whitchurch is just down the road and has a great variety of shops, or there is the lockside internet cafe' which boasts many varieties of coffee and alcohol.
A little further down the canal, just a few minutes walk beside the locks and under the road bridge is the Shell garage which stocks calor gas etc. There is also a pub serving hot meals just across the road.
All in all, you would be very hard pressed to find a nicer site, in a nicer place at a nicer price.
We will be returning next year - several times.

First time we had visited this site, can't wait to go back again.Tom the owner very friendly and helpful. Some lovely walks from the site, great little lochside cafe minutes walk away, and across the top lock a 1.5 mile walk into Whitchurch and Dantons wood, great if you have dogs with you. But the best part was just watching all the barges passing on the canal. £10 a night including hook up toilets and shower on site ( a charge of 50p for the shower)
