Just spent three nights at Stanmore Hall, nice site with very good facilities and very good wardens, except the dog walks, one which went nowhere and was just a clearing inside of the perimeter fence and the other one which went from the play area to the adults only area which meant just turning around and going back.
This is a very picturesque site with the lake in the centre, we asked for a hard standing, and were allocated a pitch (17) in what can only be described as a car park (we could have been in a Tesco car park).
If I didn't have a dog I may not have explored the site and not seen what we were missing. IF we go back we will definitely ask for a better pitch because for the money I expect more.

Stayed at this site for a couple of nights this week
The site is very welcoming and the setting is lovely around the lake.
Would agree that the site is not within walking distance of any towns, villages, shops etc
Good on site facilities - basic shop, well maintained toilet block and clean. Hairdryers rather dated and not very warm
My main comment would be to ask for a pitch away from the main road. The traffic is not too daunting in the day or early evening but we were woken by 'rush hour' traffic the next morning - if possible then do get a pitch away from this area. If you need access to the play area again ask to be located near it as its not central to the park
Otherwise a great site

Very clean touring park very sedate & quiet with Adults only area, small shop selling essentials, toys, cigarettes and papers, very clean toilets with large power showers, sink/changing cubicles, Laundry room and covered wash up room with conservatory over looking the lake to site in if desired and a very small play area.
Very quick/efficient booking from telephone enquiry to arrival & helpful pleasant staff on reception
Downsides to this park, toilets access by key which was ridiculous with a security barrier and the fact it was right next to the Wardens accommodation & shop, little for children to do we don't like commercialised sites but this had 2 swings and a slide well away from the majority of pitches.

Stanmore Hall is a beautifully kept site with a duck pond in the middle but safe for children. The grounds are very well kept and the toilet/shower block is clean and warm. The location is good for touring the area, which is a very interesting part of our country with many traditional towns with nice markets and fairs to visit. As we sat outside our van we could hear the steam trains from nearby, the birds singing and the ducks' quacking' Very restful. It was very good value for money and YES we will stay there again and recommend it to friends.

We booked this site at the last minute in a bid to escape the rain in the Lake District where we were based. I guess it was about a quarter full as this was mid-week. We were very impressed at the super serviced pitch (£23 for CC members) which was roomy and overlooking the pretty lake.We did need levellers but it wasn't a problem.
We found the shower block to be excellent, clean with plenty of hot water although I can imagine it may be under pressure when the site is full.
As previously mentioned, the site is a way from any facilities and there aren't any shops or pubs in reasonable walking distance. There is a bus stop about 10 minutes walk away which runs to Bridgnorth once an hour but the last bus returns at 5pm. We used the bus to travel in for the Severn Valley Railway which was a good trip although expensive at £16 each.
In all, a really nice site but you do need a car, I think, to get the best out of the area. We will definitely return as it's not too far from us but will be careful to select a lake view pitch out of peak season and will bring the car.

Just returned from this site after a lovely weekend away.
Easy, well sign posted site access off the main road.
Very clean and tidy with large pitches. Toilet block clean and tidy as you would expect.
Having no bar/entertainment on site means that this is a lovely peaceful location with loads of wildlife wandering around to keep the kids attention. Ducks knocking on the door for breakfast and a number of peacocks add to the variety.
Only down sides are that the site is well away from any local facilities unless you're prepared for a long walk or use the car.
The single toilet block may get over crowded at busy periods - this wasn't observed - just a passing thought based on the number of pitches versus the number of toilets/showers.
Local attractions such as Bridgnorth and the historic Ironbridge Gorge are very close and worth a visit -although they are expensive.

We visited Stanmore Hall for February half term as there are not a lot of campsites open at this time of year. The campsite is, as other reviewers have said, set around a lake--half of which is unfenced and could be a potential risk to children if left unsupervised for a second.
We had a fully serviced hardstanding pitch but needed chocks to level. There are good pitches overlooking the lake but some not so good pitches near the exit, so check where you are being allocated. We could not hear any road noise, but we were on the opposite side of the lake, with a field of sheep to the rear.
Only one toilet/shower block on the site, the other side of the lake---approx 3 minutes walk away, so not a problem. Toilet block was warm and clean. Someone had played a game of noughts and crosses on the wall in the toilets but this was quickly removed by the wardens.
There were 5 or 6 showers, good sized with seat/hooks etc and plenty of hot water. The shower units were -superficially-- clean but could do with a 'deep clean' as the tiles / shower walls were a little 'slimy' in parts.Good information area.
Plenty to see and do in the area. We went to Blists Victorian Town for the day. Dogs allowed everywhere in the town except for any shops with food in, so it was a real family day out! You can change your money for Victorian Coins and then buy things with the money.
Nice little sweet shop / chemists / bakers etc plus a Victorian school where you can go for a lesson with a very strict teacher! We also went to the China museum--more tea cups than you have ever seen in your life!-quite a 'grown up' museum but they did have quizzes for the children to follow around the museum. We also went to see the Ironbridge itself--same car park ticket can be used in the car parks around the area on the same day.
There are plenty of other museums but we didn't get time to see all of these but bought a 'Passport Ticket' so will be able to go back to same/other museums within the year. Another day we went to the West Midlands Safari Park--about 20 minutes away. An excellent day out. The ticket allows you to go revisit, in the same car, with the same number of people within the year.
We took our motorhome on the long drive around the safari and saw lots of animals including White Lions. Buy special food on the way into the safari as the deers and camels like to put their heads in through the window to be fed ! There was also a seal lion show and numerous other animals to see. We didn't manage to see everything there so will be going back for a second day at some point.
There is an area of fairground rides--very expensive if you but individual tickets but you can buy a wristband for unlimited rides which appear to work out chepaer. There are more attractions such as a Lemur Walk opening at WMSP at Easter.
There are dog kennels for you to leave your dogs in if going into the main park.
All in all a good campsite though, I felt quite expensive, even more expensive in the summer months and the wardens were not the jolliest of people. Ps don't forget to take plenty of bird food for the ducks which surround you every time you walk outside!

This was our first venture with a caravan.
We could not have picked a better site. The entrance was well signed and easy to navigate for a novice like me. Booking in was made easy by the friendly staff in the very well stocked shop.
I had booked a super pitch but wanted to stay a few days more. No problem but I had to go for a grass pitch. The pitch was large and level with good access. Both electric and TV were on the bollard although I did get DTV with my van aerial.
The showers and toilets are in one block for which you are given a key. They were both warm and spotless at all times. They also never appeared busy even though the site was quite full.
The warden was very helpful with an electrical problem I had and it was soon fixed. Many thanks also to my neighbour Dave who gave advice and cable ties - good on you!
The area is one I know well and is a real gem with many fine attractions - Bridgnorth, Blists Hill Victorian Village, Iron Bridge, Cadbury World - to name but a few.
I will be back and have booked again for June 2011.

We just came back from our first weekend camping, thankfully we picked this site. We found it very clean and tidy, and the managers and staff very helpful, and also very patient with one of our dogs who this weekend decided to bark his head off (not usually like that).
Although the weather was not good we did like the site and it was well worth the money, the shower block and toilets were in pristine condition and the shower were free. I recommend this site to all, especially if your new to camping. The road out side the camp was very noisy, but you can't have everything can you.

Just spent a week at the caravan park, we really enjoyed ourselves. The site is lovely, very clean, and has a good selection of pitches, we had a super pitch with water/tv/electric etc, which was great.
There is a lovely playground for the kids, which has 2 baby swings and 2 childs swings and a slide. There is a lovely lake with lots of ducks to feed. The duck with its babies came to the caravan a few times, which my girls just loved.
The facilities are great, very clean, well looked after, even a disabled toilet with baby change and a baby bath. The ladies showers had endless hot water, and the sink area even were individually screened off for privacy.
The site wardens were lovely, they helped us pitch on arrival, as we are newbies to pitching a caravan.
Its a very safe site, my 7 year old was off on her bike to the park at every opportunity, she really enjoyed herself and made lots of friends.
There is a lovely little area for tents with hookups under some lovely big old trees, and an adult only area which is nearer the road, but not noisy.
The only noisy thing was the peacock, which we only saw twice but did hear it a few times, I think this stayed near the adult only area.
There is a shop on site, which sold lots of bits and accessories, there was also an information room, with lots of brochures for local attractions.
The best 2 attractions we wen to was Blists Hill victorian Village (BBC Victorian pharmacy filmed here), also the west midlands safari park, both about 15 minutes away. Though with the safari park, I would recommend you park up first and go to the amusements, then go on safari, as it was very busy.
Overall a great holiday, would highly recommend.
