This park really is lovely! Just returned from a bank holiday trip there, and can't wait to book next year. The site is the cleanest, best kept I have ever been to, with very friendly owners, Peter and Jacqui who live on site.
The site is only small, and although full, it didn't feel over crowded. The toilet block was always spotless, with hardly any queues. There is also a family shower room, which was great, so we could all go in together.
The play area and trampoline were a big hit with our son, there was also a little playhouse on the camping field he loved. It felt really safe, and if he was a bit older, would have been fine to let him go off playing on his own.
On the Saturday night Jacqui and Peter did a great job with the summer prom, the food and entertainment were spot on!
The local area is nice, loads of pubs everywhere, and Boston surprised us, it was mush bigger and nicer than I expected. Visited the RSPB nature reserve 5 mins away who had a children's day on, had a lovely walk round there.
Can't wait to return next year, well done to Jacqui and Peter on creating such a wonderful, relaxing retreat!

This site has been pretty well described by previous reviewers, and on the Pilgrims Way website itself. We couldn't agree more with all the positive things that have been said concerning the ambience, peace, and general loveliness of this site, which was a real pleasure to visit and stay at.
Our visit didn't get off to as good a start as we'd have hoped, as the pitch offered was only marginally bigger than the tent dimensions we'd given over the phone. Not enough room left to walk around it to peg it, let alone guy it. So we were eventually offered a pitch on the communal site, which turned out to be absolutely perfect. Lesson learned - always check the pitch dimensions when booking!
As a family, we simply loved this site, and Peter and Jacqui's approach to running a campsite is unlike any other we've ever stayed at. We felt like guests. They and their helpers, Karen and Carl, were approachable, and - well suffice it to say we stayed for 3 weeks, and only felt more and more comfortable. It really was a wrench to come back to normality!
Having fair to moderate mobility problems, I do tend to look at sites from a slightly different angle from most reviews. I hope always to be constructive and not overly critical; but there is one particular area where improvements on this site are needed. We chose Pilgrims Way not only because of what it offered to us as a family, but because it also advertised disabled facilities, which sadly have to play an important part in our decision-making process when choosing sites to stay at these days. This site is unfortunately not very suitable for anyone with moderate or worse mobility problems.
There are two main areas which with a bit of thought can be brought up to scratch to make this a really accessible site. Firstly, as described on the website, all the paths/roadways are covered in gravel. This is a particularly coarse gravel, in some places very deep, and walking on it without sticks on a good day it was like trying to plough through a stony pebbly beach. My mobility scooter simply wouldn't have coped with it. When using my sticks, I had to go very slowly because they kept hitting loose stones and skating out from under me. A gravel-free walkway to one side of, or even down the middle of, the roadways around the site would be a vast improvement. As it was, there were some days when I had to be driven to and from the toilet block.
The second area which was problematical were the toilet facilities. The family shower room that has been mentioned in previous reviews, was originally a dedicated disabled toilet and shower room, and while I feel comfortable sharing facilities in this way, there will be some disabled people for whom this will make the site inaccessible. The far greater problems lie with the toilet and shower cubicle themselves.
The toilet is of standard height, with a pull-down support bar to the right of it. It has been fitted with a fixed bolster cushion so that anyone needing support while they sit is as comfortable as possible. But, and this is a huge BUT - this is also the only toilet in the entire block with a lid. Result - well it's simply impossible to use on a bad day. The bolster stops the lid from going fully back, so it has to be held up while someone manoeuvres themselves onto the loo, and it rests on their back for the duration of their visit. Getting on and off the toilet while holding the lid with one hand is bad enough for a fully able-bodied person; if you're trying to lever yourself up with the support bar on one side, a walking stick on the other, and hold the lid up at the same time as trying to keep your clothes dry and off the wet floor - well it's impossible. And of course the bolster cushion itself is rendered entirely useless because the lid gets in the way of the cushioning. To sort this out, all that's needed is the simple removal of the toilet lid. Better still would be replacing the seat with a raised one (my hips would love that!) something like £15 from Argos.
The flooring is a less easy and cheap problem to resolve. The shower has an unmarked step down into it, as in fact do all the showers in the block. There are no warning signs, and the step itself is difficult to see in the low natural light that is available to this cubicle. The entire floor of the shower and loo room is tiled, and becomes excessively slippery when wet, something that was unavoidable if more than one person was using the facilities at a time. This was, for me, the only problem caused by allowing family use of the room - it was simply impossible to keep the floor dry, and walking across it after even 2 people had showered was a nightmare. Again there were grab rails in the shower cubicle itself, but no drop-down seat, which one would expect to see in facilities offered to disabled users. A plastic garden chair was available, but this is unsuitable to use in a shower due to instability and hygiene among other things.
Finally the taps in the wash-basin were the push-down sort that only operate while pushed. Again these were horribly difficult to use on a bad day - they didn't have delays on them, whereby they could run for several seconds after being pushed. If you stop pushing, they stop running, so you can only rinse one soapy hand at a time. Sometimes my hands were just too weak to operate them so I had to wash my hands in the general ladies loos where some of the taps did have a delay. Sorry but I don't know how much it would cost to replace these taps with lever ones, but it would be an investment well worth making.
On the whole these problems didn't stop me enjoying myself nor from staying for 3 weeks; but they did teach me important Lesson No 2 which is to check what shape any disabled facilities are in before booking. I would - and already have! - thoroughly recommend this site to friends and family alike; but I couldn't honestly recommend it to disabled visitors as it currently stands.

We've just returned from a week staying at Pilgrim's Way. I know the review advice says stay objective but I thought there was something magical about this place. I grew up on rougher camping and initially thought that this site was slightly over-manicured. However, within a few days I felt like I'd fallen under a spell: it was such a relaxing place to stay and the week flew by.
The children absolutely loved being able to run around and made loads of friends. The showers, toilets and wash-up areas were impeccable. There is a washing machine and tumble drier that are slightly costly to use.
There is no shop - apart from eggs, jam, lollies and gas - but to me that's a good thing because it's not all done for you. There are a couple of good mini-markets about five minutes away.
The pitch space was good but things got quite cosy at weekends on the communial pitches - however, it was never invasive. There are secluded, individual pitches which you can request when you book.
We made four trips to local beaches ranging from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away. No beaches on the doorstep but that didn't spoil the stay.
Peter and Jacqui were welcoming, friendly and helpful.
I'd definitely recommend it as a site to visit. I imagine we'll be back for another holiday there at some point in the future.

We stayed one night on this site as we were travelling from a weekend's racing at Cadwell Park to Norfolk. After a quick call we were met by Jacqui who showed us to our pitch. This is one of those sites you would dream about, compact, private, not overlooked by the road and very private pitches of equal gravel and grass surrounded by hedgerows on three sides. In our short stay we confined ourselves to topping up our batteries before moving on but we can vouch for the toilet facilities they are superb and having seen the children's area and communal BBQs these are the sought of facilities other sites should look to copying, in a word outstanding. If we holiday in this area in the future this site would be top of the list

As soon as you pass the barrier and enter Pilgrims Way your stress levels seem to go down to zero. I was met by Jacqui who showed me my pitch and also helped me unhook and manoeuvre my trailer tent. I had a lovely pitch with good hardstanding and a nice grass area with hedges for shelter. They have worked hard to make this site great and it shows. From the well manicured hedges and grass areas no litter through to the spotless washing up areas and hot showers and nice clean toilets. Most of the people staying on the site were return visitors and I cant blame them as I will definitely be going back. On my last night Peter and Jacqui came over with a glass of wine and chatted for an hour. As I was on my own this was much appreciated. I can also recommend the Ball House Inn for a nice Sunday lunch which was only 5 mins away in the car. If you are looking for a great little site with friendly owners and a warm welcome then look no further.

What a fantastic find - a truly great site. We have a really lovely stay with Jacqui and Peter, although Jacqui had her 1st break away from the site for ages, but her 2nd in command Jo was a worthy stand in. All aspects of the site were clean and tidy and we especially liked the secluded pitches, they are hedged on 3 sides and are VERY private. There is a brilliant children's play area for under 10's. Perhaps I shouldn't give the site a good review cos' you'll all be there and we might not be able to book! ENJOY!

Another positive review to add to all the others!
Driving through Boston we were wondering quite what we were coming to, but the site proved to be an absolute gem - what a find!
It's a small sheltered site on a quiet country road just beyond a residential area. Entry is via an electronic key system. There are large pitches laid out with high hedges in between, these are half grass half hard standing so could accommodate either tent or caravan. Also a large grassed area for tents. There are no marked pitches here (hurrah!) and the ground is pretty level all over. The grassed area has plenty of shade from mature trees and the high parameter hedge.
The toilet/laundry/wash-up facilities are excellent; plenty of hot water, always clean and washing up bits for the forgetful camper! There is a recycling area.
The children’s area is simply wonderful – we didn’t see the children all weekend! It has an enclosed climbing frame with swings, and an enclosed trampoline which I’m told is changed each year. There is a Wendy house and child’s picnic table for use.
There is no shop on site which is fine as there are plenty of shops locally. You can buy fresh eggs and home made jams, and the very necessary ice lollies! There are pubs nearby although we chose to stay on site and use the communal BBQ (one of two) and ate in the new Tea House.
The surrounding countryside is lovely. Skegness is about 30 mins away and worth a visit – well, the children loved it! Freiston Shore nature reserve is about 4 miles away, and ideal for small nature detectives!
Pilgrims Way is a site we will definitely return to again, and soon. The excellent site and facilities aren’t the reason though. It’s the attitude of the owners, in particular Jacqui who make this site stand out from all others we have visited. I can’t put it into words other than to say, go see for your self. You’ll be back!

Just got back from a lovely weekend at this campsite.
The site is pretty small, so great for families with young children. There is a small enclosed play area and a large trampoline(with side nets) and quite a large grassed area where they can play football, cricket, badminton etc. There is a pair of small football nets on the grass along with a small children's playhouse and little picnic bench - the owners let us put these right outside our tent as we were the only ones with young children there this weekend.
The washing up area was fine. The showers and toilets were clean, although the family/disabled shower was not working this weekend, so made it difficult with our disabled son and baby.
The site was approx 25mins from Skegness and then a further 10mins to another beach at Chapel St Leonards, which is a nice little seaside resort with a pleasant beach.
We would visit this site again, although we would avoid peak season as we liked the fact there was just ourselves and one other tent in our area which was lovely, although they did say when they are busy there can be about 5 tents, and I feel you would be on top of each other and there would not be as much room for the kids to play.
A lovely site though and the owners make you feel very welcome and are happy to help with anything. There is even a barbecue on site which they let you use if you want to.

Couldn't have picked a nicer site to begin our camping again!
It's about 18 years since we last camped in a tent, when our children were only small, but I wished we'd been able to take them along to Pilgrims Way.
The site is lovely, it's exceptionally clean, friendly, superb facilities and very safe.
We spent a wonderful weekend with our friends who also loved the site. So much so, we all booked up again for August!
Peter and Jacqui are a lovely couple and find nothing too much trouble!
They are trying very hard to create a warm, family friendly site which will live up to the expectations of the most discerning camper, and we think they are succeeding!
They have some fantastic plans to extend their facilities, but it's quite apparent, their passion for their 'home and gardens' will never let them stray too far from 'small and friendly'!
The shower block is very clean and always had an abundance of hot water, and little touches like the washing up liquid in the wash up area, all added to 'that little bit extra'.
Be prepared to 'Go Green' as you enter Pilgrims, as they are big on recycling. Also, a certain love of animals is necessary, as one can be visited at any time by the locals.(5 chickens who live on site and provide the super free range eggs on sale in Reception !)

Well what a fantastic site. Everything you need for a quiet weekend with friends. The web site is as it says on the packet. And the Chickens were great even falling asleep in the sun.
Camp facilities were good and they have done well in a short time and more improvements on the way.
Well worth a visit any time.
Thanks all for a great weekend.
