Stayed at Bishops Green on Saturday night and had a great time - didn't want to leave!

BRAND NEW TOILET BLOCK opened 3 weeks ago apparently, loads better than the original block which seemed to of accrued a few neutral/negative comments relating to the size.

FANTASTIC FISHING also! Other half had about 15 fish out, heaviest he reckons approx 15lb (carp) and about 5 others over 10lb (apparently this is good - but I was pre-occupied reading my book in the sunshine enjoying the lovely surroundings at the lake!)

Will definitely visit again, thanks Nick for a great 1st stay!

Stayed here for week-end with my wife on a rally with loddon d.A. Was very impressed with site. They now have new shower/toilet block. They have three toilets and two showers in gents and three toilets and three showers in ladies(so my wife told me). Not a big lake but good sized fish in there. Will certainly go back, next time I shall ask my brothers to come as well. I'm sure they will enjoy it as well. Just the site we enjoy

We stayed here mid July with a couple of friends. On arrival the owner was there to meet us. He was friendly and advised us on where the local pubs and take aways were.

The campsite was split into two sections. The first (nearest the shower block) looked like it was for statics or long stay caravans. The scond was a large field and we were told we could camp anywhere we liked in it. This field was a mix of caravans and tents.

It's not the prettiest site I've ever been too but the edging of the field had trees and shrubs , which is where we chose to pitch. Be warned now, there are a few noisy birds that go off at the crack of dawn so if you are a light sleeper, camp away from the edges!

We set up no problem. The ground was pretty even and soft, although it rained quite hard that day but the ground was not waterlogged. The grass was short and well kept.

Due to our late arrival we ended up getting some fish and chips from the local take away, which was in fact in Newbury about 4 miles away. Easy enough to get to though and very tasty. There is a fish and chip van that comes on Tuesdays and Fridays between 5pm-6pm but it didn't turn up the day we were there.

The toilet and shower block was spotless. I think it must be a new block. There were 3 showers (in both men and womens), 3 toilets in the ladies and also a large mirror with electricty if you wanted to dry your hair. The showers were free and were powerful enough.

There was a mop outside for people to wipe up any drips etc. Very clean, although it would have been nice if there was some soap by the hand basins!

Attached to the shower block were 2 washing up sinks and again the area was spotless.

There is a beautiful lake a few minutes walk from the site and there were plenty of people fishing. The owner said a day pass costs £5 and you must buy this in advance from him.

The site was pretty quiet, despite there being children there. There isn't anything in the way of a playarea for children.

Newbury is 4-5 miles away. We didn't go into town but did go to the races. A cab from the races to the campsite costs between £10-15.

There is a large Tesco between Newbury and the campsite. It is open 24 hours a day.

The nearest pub we could find was a good 2-3 miles away. We went there on Sunday for lunch and it was all very pleasant and the drive to it was very nice. Country lanes with thatched cottages. Pretty.

You do need a car if you want to get anywhere. I wouldn't pin your hopes on getting a bus too soon as they only seem to run every 3 hours, if that!

It cost £13 per night for a tent and two adults.

All in all we had a lovely time here. It was peaceful, very relaxing and a friendly site.

We returned in June this year and were welcomed by Nick the friendly owner who remembered us from last year when our daughter and her husband moved to the area.

The good news is that a new toilet/shower block was almost completed inclusive of a family/disabled shower room. The ladies will have 3 showers , the gents 2, more toilet facilities and 2 washing sinks for campers. This will be a great asset to a very friendly and reasonably priced site.

Cant wait to return in August and leave Cornwall to be enjoyed by others!

We had a wonderful stay. We arrived for one weekend. On arrival no one was around, but there was a message on the board for us as to which pitch etc. We never paid for the pitch until day of leaving. On the day we were supposed to leave, we asked the very friendly, helpful owner if we could leave the tent up for the next week while we went home till the weekend. He agreed. The tent and equipment were safe. The owner checked the guy ropes and retied some. No one had entered the tent.

At night we were able to listen to the call of Owls in the near by trees, there was a fox too. I haven't heard an owl in years!

The site was very clean and quiet. One shower and two toilets. Only a small site. There was quite a few vans in for the season with their own facilities. We did have electric hook-up. There is no play area for children. Never saw the fishing area. We did not use the local shop as there is a Tesco Extra a few miles away. The retail park has a MacDonalds and a Pizza Hut. We hope to return on day.

Stayed over Bank holiday with 3 other units (caravans) Found easily, owner very helpful -fish and chip van didn't make it when we were there, but owner advised lovely fish and chip shop near Wash common - 5 min drive away, also a big tesco similar distance, there were 2 loos and 1 shower in the ladies, always clean and hot water. Recycling. Friendly regulars. Farm shop nearby with some great meat!

The fishing lake was small, but some big carp in there, the fishermen were friendly.

Saw 3 shooting stars in one night! Found it relaxing and will definitely be going back!

I stayed on this site for 2 nights with my wife and 2 daughters. No one there to greet us on arrival however a message had been chalked on the board informing us where to pitch our tent (this was unfortunately smack bang in the middle of the field in front on the toilet/shower block!). After setting up the lady owner came over to check we were OK and was quite OK I didn't have the cash to pay straightaway. She kindly informed us where the nearest Tesco was but insisted we paid the following day! This is something I have never experienced.
Very relaxed, well done! Could do with an extra toilet and shower as only 1 of each for the whole site I feel is not enough and there was often a queue for the only washing up sink, however this we noticed was somewhere campers would often have a little chat with other campers while they waited.
Fishing lake short walk away. Dodgy looking housing estate on the other side of the road with many of the houses boarded up. We were informed by a lovely local lady that the area was being regenerated and there was obvious signs of this with new houses built and being built. No visual signs of this estate from the campsite though. All in all a pleasant visit to this beautiful rural area of Berkshire. I would visit again! PS £12 per night. Great value!

Stayed for one night on our way back from West Wales and it was an ideal base. We had booked and had a nice pitch with woodland at the back and EHU. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Our only small reservation was there was only one mens toilet and shower for the whole field (very clean). Fine if you have onboard facilities. Would still recommend site however.

Only one night, booked on the strength of the website reviews. We agree with all the previous reviews. A small but spotlessly clean toilet / shower block, but could be bigger as there were about 30 units of various sizes on the well kept field.
Nice walks down to and round the fishing lake and lovely views across the valley. Ideal for dogs and children. Nick, the owner, was extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent value for £12.

Great little site, nice and clean, Toilets/Showers cleaned at least 2/3 times a day by a very friendly owner Nick, who goes out of his way to help you. Fish and chip van on site Tuesdays and Friday evening, local village shop Now sells daily newspapers and all your basic needs. Bus to Newbury just down the road 99p each way and only takes 15 mins.

Fishing lake on site very good, plenty of wildlife around, foxs, buzzards, kingfishers etc.

Will be going back.
