Booked lonely farm as nothing else was available. How lucky things turned out! this place is a gem. I agree with all the positive things in the previous reviews. The showers are the best I have seen - roomy, clean and plenty of them.
The owners are friendly and helpful and the site has amazing views. There are some lovely lanes to cycle. We will definitely be back again with the bikes.
We tried two or three local pubs - we were not impressed with eels foot and another one we cannot remember. But we must recommend the white horse in rendham. It was just superb - great food at amazing prices (special menu two courses £10.50).
This old pub has been restored beautifully and it was a pleasure to spend time in it. Just wished we discovered it on the first night. They have a website that can be looked up. All in all, we highly recommend this campsite.

This is a fantastic site, so peaceful. No noisy kids and excellent facilities with plenty of free hot water for the showers. There is lots of space between the units and it is a well cared for site. The owners are very friendly and always on hand if needed.
There is an abundance of places to visit in the area and RSPB Minsmere is superb. Framlingham and Orford castles are worth a visit too. There are plenty of places to eat out without too far to drive. It may be a long journey from Scotland but we will certainly be back next year.

What a Gem of a site. Very well kept grounds set in the heart of the countryside. There are some stunning little villages in the surrounding area - Framlingham being of particular interest with its castle. The facilities are basic, dated but clean.
The owners are very pleasant and welcoming. When we were there the wasps were having a field day and a couple of folk got stung. Personally I would definitely visit this site again.
The peace and quiet is lovely - with NO Children running around. Heavenly! Oh! and there are some lovely walks around some neighbouring fishing lakes.

What a lovely site for peace and quiet, it is in abundance! having 2 dogs they were in their element as there are so many good walks for them and you can (if they are well behaved ) find the odd walk to let your dogs off.
The site itself is so very well maintained by the family who work tirelessly to make your stay as enjoyable as can be, the grounds are very well kept indeed as are the communal showers and separate sink areas which are very clean and private with piping hot water and free showers.
If you want fabbo restaurants, wine bars and night clubs don't go as there aren't any in fact if I were being very critical we didn't find the local pub food that good, better barbie and get the Boss to do a bit of cooking (great Waitrose for the shopping in Saxmunden) would we go again ? you bet.

We have just returned from a weekend break and will certainly be returning for more in the future.
The site itself is set in the heart of the country and we enjoyed some nice bike rides on roads where hardly a car was seen. However, the coast and larger towns are all within a few miles if you want them.
We liked being on the main field although there are another 4 sectors where campers are put. These are behind the toilets and showers and are a little more quiet for those of you seeking even more seclusion.
The owners are very friendly and somebody is always on hand to help if needed.
Great value for money.

What a great site ! Well kept level grass pitches and friendly owners. The toilet block is clean and well managed, we use the shower in the van but assume the site facilities are up to the same good standard. It's great for walking with plenty of public footpaths nearby for well behaved owners with dogs to enjoy their freedom. If your a birdwatcher it's proximity to Minsmere is a definite bonus !( Don't forget to call into the Eels Foot Inn at Eastbridge on your way home for great food.). We enjoyed our stay here very much and are looking forward to returning later in the year.

Just arrived home from Lonely Farm after very wet Easter. A Lovely quiet site. Excellent roomy showers with lots of hooks for hanging clothes & lovely hot showers. The Bloomfield Family most helpful & always a smile. Reg towed us onto the site due to the very wet conditions.
The site is beautifully Kept & pitches nice & level. Water / Showers / Disposal point / Rubbish bins. All close to pitches. It may have been a wet weekend, but is was made so much better due to the well drained site.
We will be back. Close to the coast.

Have just spent a week at Lonely farm in Suffolk, what a lovely site, we and our friends were the only ones for the week, and what a week smashing weather, walks, cycle rides, between Southwold and Aldeburgh just of the A12
Some really nice pubs with smashing food at reasonable prices, walking distance from Saxmunden where a good Waitrose is the main supermarket. No shop or anything like that on site but loos, showers adequate and site neat and really clean
Turn right when leaving the site onto A12 and a Bailey Main Dealer about 5 mins away for any caravan / camping needs. Site now closed for the winter.

My husband and I found this to be a lovely peaceful site, set in beautiful countryside and very good for walking, cycling or just relaxing. The family who owned it were very friendly and helpful and made us very welcome.
I have read other reviews from couples in their 30s who felt unwelcome but we did not encounter any of this, which is quite understandable as it is a very peaceful site and the owners obviously want to keep it that way! The facilities were very clean. The site is a short walk down a pathway from Carlton Meres where there is a large site ( with children ) although there was no noise from there, but walking round the lakes it was very busy with fishermen and children. We would visit again

We have just returned from this beautiful little site. It is very peaceful and relaxed and best of all has no noisy kids! A very high percentage of the visitors are of retirement age and (we are 50) we were knocked out by the friendliness of everybody. It was just like a happy little community.
The showers and toilets were immaculate and I liked the idea of having separate wash basin cubicles with doors as well. The owners seemed to be pretty friendly and laid back and the regulars spoke very highly of them. I can honestly say that on the whole it was a really enjoyable weekend. There is no shop on the site, but the pretty village of Peasenhall which is about 2-3 miles away has a grocery shop and a fantastic butcher who sells scrummy home made pies! Also Saxmundham is only a short drive away and that has a co-op and Waitrose and a nice fish and chip shop.
If you don't want to drive, there are plenty of public footpaths to walk and if you do want to use the car/van, you are only a few miles from Dunwich, Minsmere and the beautiful Suffolk coastline.
I cannot recommend this site enough. If you like peace and quiet and a good friendly chat, then this one is just for you. We will certainly be returning!
