What a fantastic campsite, with lovely owners, Julie and Stephen, who take a great pride in their site as well as running the farm. Nice to see them out and about, just checking everyone ok and seeing what you've been up to.
Great family atmosphere on this beautiful site, which was surprisingly quiet for the time of year. Shower / loo block kept very clean and gave good space for clothes / extra children etc! Reception has fridge / freezer, leaflets & posters about what's on and info about eating out & other useful things.
Beach at Seascale really nice, with loo facilities, play area, good rockpooling, lots of sand when tide going out and fantastic local ice creams (try the panna cotta cherry flavour).
Eating out you're really spoilt for choice with excellent food all around. We particularly liked the Gosforth Hall Inn (courtesy bus will take you there/back to site & amazing pies) and The Screes at Nether Wasdale.
Easy reach of the hills and Wast Water, without the huge crowds and coach parties you get in other parts of the Lake District. We also liked Ravenglass with its estuary, steam railway and Roman Bath House ruins to walk to. We will definitely come back to this site.

Positives:
Roomy, level pitch, electric hookup for the tent, excellent modern showers (no charge), very good wash basins, rates were reasonable, nice little shop; lovely, helpful, pleasant, friendly proprieters. Quaint and lovely seaside town close by ( with a little mini market). All the shops you need in whitehaven.
Lovely coastal village at both ravensglass and st bees. Loads of fishing rivers close by. Views were fantastic. Lovely landlady and landlord in the local pub. Beer and wine were lovely. The area was great for bird watching. A mini steam train ride at ravensglass.
Negatives:
Had to leave early for work. 20 mins walk to the pub. The pub closed the bar didn't stay open long enough, closed at 12.00 midnight.
Four nights was not enough to get the whole benefit from this wonderful area. The rain. Oh ran over a little bird in the car. ' Selafield nuclear power station was visible from the coastline'.
That's it basically, and if it wasn't for the bad weather, we would have had a perfect time.

A lovely, quiet site - a bit off the beaten track, which makes it all the more appealing. Views of the fells and Wasdale Valley really are fantastic.
The owners are very helpful and the reception has plenty of info, local maps and a freezer to leave ice packs or food. Excellent toilets/showers - modern and very clean. We visited after reading a review on this site and will definitely be returning!

Just returned from a weekend at this site, the site itself is a basic camping site on a farm with a well maintained large field with a hedge all the way round which is good shelter from the Cumbrian wind!
There was plenty of room for us to spread out (2 families) there is also a separate field for ball games, although because no one was near to us the owner had no problem with us playing next to the tent.
If you don't require electric you can pitch up anywhere there are no endless rules everybody just respected everybody else. There is no shop on site the nearest one is probably a couple of miles away, if you need any eggs you can buy these fresh free range from the farm.
The only thing that I think lets the site down is the unisex toilet/shower block. It is kept clean and tidy and the showers are lovely and hot (push button), but it would be nice to have separate ladies and gents and some more toilets. It was fine for the amount of people which were on site but if it was any busier you would have to queue.
Other than that it is a great base for the glorious sites of the lakes and many beaches a real gem is Wastwater lake, highly recommended.

Spent 3 nights here in August didnt have a lot of dealing with the owners but they did seem to be pleasant enough. unfortunately the weather was not very good heavy rain and strong winds which gave the tent a bit of a battering but the site, which is on a bit of a slope, seemed to drain very well
The site is kept clean with the grass cut to a reasonable height, take a walk round the fields at dusk and there are rabbits and bats which the grandchildren loved.
Perhaps the only negative comment was the unisex toilet shower block which although spotlessly clean, was not big enough and being mixed just did not feel right for any of my family.
Seascale is only a short drive away, it has a nice large beach and a park for children and a drive through Hardknott pass, which is not for the faint hearted, has some spectacular views
All in all the site is set in a good location for touring a less commercialised and beautiful area of area of the lake district.

Sadly, although we'd booked for 4 nights we only managed to stay for 1, due to extremely hostile winds and rain which battered our poor Horizon 6 for around 11 hours all night and well into the following morning- rather than go out for the day and return to a tattered, flattened tent we decided discretion was the better part of valour and upped sticks.
The owners of the site, which is attached to their farm, are very friendly and the reception area is filled with loads of local info on places to visit and places where you can eat. Seascale village is just up the road with plenty of local amenities and of course, scenery-wise, you're on the south-western edge of the Lake District with all its many delights.
The pitching area itself is quite open with a hedge around the outside for shelter, although as we found, that doesn't help much in a large tent when the wind decides to turn brutal. Perhaps smaller, lower tents would find much less hindrance in that respect. There were a few EHU's and caravan hard standings on site so all types of campers are accomodated. The chemical loo cleaning point and the washing-up facilities are all outside and very exposed to the elements, so doing the dishes and rinsing out the porta-pottie could get interesting.
There is no shop on site, so any supplies you might need are best brought with you.
The stand out feature though, is the toilet/shower block. It's a modern, clean unisex unit (don't let that put you off- privacy is preserved due to it's size and design) with 2 large, well-designed shower cubicles, a disabled shower/toilet, 3 toilets, 2 wash basins and a free hairdryer. They are by far the best showers/loos I've ever used whilst camping.
OH and I are definitely going to try and go back to this lovely site, hopefully in more clement weather.
One other thing. The roads around here are all fairly narrow and very twisty, so big vehicles & those towing caravans should be a bit more cautious than usual.

This was our 3rd stay at the site. Again a pleasant stay, spent a day on the nearby beach which was more crowded than usual (all of 9 people on a mile and a half of golden sand). Julie and Stephen always on hand and very friendly and welcoming, each evening taking time to walk around the site and have a chat.
Toilets/showers modern, warm, clean and free hot water. Washing up facilities, veg prep area also some recycling. Large field for dog walking also ball game area. We stayed once when other sites were washed out and had no issues with wet ground, site can get breezy but this can only be expected on a coastal site.
Ideal base for walking, cycling or visiting local areas. Shops in Seascale approx 5 mins drive, also free bus to and from local pub!

Stayed two nights on this lovely site on farm myself, husband and two dogs, great views from the site, facilities spotless and site was quite, owners very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble.
Not very far from the beach and pub for bar meals we drove to Ravenglass and went on the steam train, and visited the motor Museum which was very interesting Would visit again

Arrived with a very warm welcome, lovely owners. We stayed in a tent with EHU and had plenty of space even though it was a bank holiday. There is a dog exercise and play field, albeit no playground for children.
Toilet/Showerblock is a unisex affair, which stayed very clean. Although it was a bank holiday, queuing was minimal for the facilities.
Got a bit windy and if your in the middle of the field you may be a bit exposed to the weather. Site is well placed for coastal access and for Wasdale. But may be worth driving a little further north to visit Ennerdale water.
No shop on site and we found the best local shop a few miles away in Gosforth. Failing that you rely on the supermarkets in Whitehaven.
All in all a good campsite in a good location.

Gust got back from very busy weekend here which to be honest kind of spoiled a good site. The unisex toilet block is spotless and modern but with only three toilets, three showers for the whole site is not enough. The bins were overflowing with rubbish.
That said the site was well kept and the owners are very friendly. Half of the pitches are on a slight slope but all are very well spaced out with the grass well mowed. I would go again but not on a bank hol
