The site looked meagre as we went up the drive and we wondered what we had let ourselves in for. Upon arriving at reception we were greeted by smiling helpful owners who told us site details as well as surrounding area details.
There is no shop or pub on site as it is a working farm still however shops were close in Seasale and there were 2 local pubs, 1 of which runs a courtesy bus so everyone in the party can enjoy a drink.
The toilet and shower block was lovely. Clean warm and modern. Always hot water no matter how many people had been in before you. There was a separate dog exercising area so campers weren't disturbed and an area set aside for ball games.
All in all a lovely quiet site.

We were here for a few days late in October and the owners very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The reception was full of information for places to visit, things to do, also there were large maps on the wall where previous campers had written recommendations, useful tips and opinions etc. Also folders of places to eat and local take-aways (like others before us, we highly recommend The Victoria Hotel but it is advisable to reserve a table as on our first two evenings they were fully booked).
The shower/toilet block was warm and extremely clean with plenty of hot water, as well as shower cubicles there were separate cubicles with washbasins. Our spacious hardstanding pitch had electric and water hook-up and the views outstanding.
Overall this site is excellent, a credit to the owners and we would not hesitate to recommend it.

We visited this site for a long weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. Booked a fully serviced hard standing pitch (elect / water) and the view from our pitch was spectacular. The unisex toilet / shower facilities are excellent. Three showers, including a disabled cubicle which have toilet, wash basin and shower. There are also two cubicles with washhand basins and three toilets. The site is quite new and all the facilities are immaculately clean. The slate tiled floor has under floor heating. This is an old building which has been refurbished. They have kept the original beams and it makes the place look really homely. There is also veg preparation and washing up facilities.
The owners are Stephen and Julie who live in the dairy farm next door to the site. Julie met us on arrival and was really friendly and helpful.
The Victoria Hotel is about a mile down the road and we tried it for an evening meal. We would highly recommend it. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced.
Whilst there we visited Muncaster Castle, a ten minute drive from the site. It was £10 each for adults (can't recall the price for children). This gives you access to the castle itself together with the Owls enclosure and Tea Rooms, Garden Centre, Muncaster Church. There is also a maze, children's play area and the acres of spectacular gardens. We spent a whole afternoon there so it is well worth the entrance fee.
Would highly recommend this site.

Just got back from this site only stayed for one night, what a lovely site, This is a quiet site with Fantastic views, Dog friendly, with a large field to exercise the dogs.
Julie and Stephen are lovely people and very helpful. The toilets and showers are spotless and clean, large shower room with underfloor heating, the best we have seen. The site is on a working farm, only 5 minutes from seascale, and 4 miles from Ravenglass, we walked to the Victoria Pub which was about 15 minutes walk away, that was walking slow with a old dog.
Well what more can we say. You must try it. Also they have renovated the Old farm house into 3 cottages to rent for 2, 4 and 8 people they are very tastefully renovated. If you decide to stay here ask Julie to show you around them, they are fantastic.
Will definitely recommend this site to our friends. We will definitely come back.

My friend and I stayed at this fabulous campsite for a couple of nights at the end of July. The weather was very kind to us, and despite a small shower when setting up camp, the rest of weekend was sunny if a bit windy.
The campsite is fantastic. The owners were very helpful and were there to greet us upon arrival. The reception area is open during the day and is well stocked with information on local attractions, maps of local walks, a freezer for campers to use and even eggs to purchase!
The field itself was very flat with decent pitch sizes. The shower / toilet block was so fantastic, I took pictures to show to friends back at home and prove it wasn't a hotel! Under floor heating, water pressure and hot water - all luxuries on a campsite!
Only criticism I have, and its a small one, is the there is a lack of elbow room in the shower cubicles. The campsite was easy to find and well sign posted. Despite it being a working dairy farm the smells were non-existent and the noise very little, we barely noticed.
The Victoria Hotel is highly recommended for a meal - we went there both nights. Although its a decent 15-20 mins walk away. Have the mushroom starter, absolutely to die for.
Would also recommend the Eskdale and Ravenglass Steam railway - it was great fun, although a bit chilly in the wind!

Fantastic site, just returned from Shepherds Views. I went with my sister and family, we both have large tents, we had no problem pitching, plenty of space. I can only reiterate comments that other members have written. Julie and Stephen are great hosts, very attentive and keen to make sure you have a good stay.
Seacale beach is great for kids, plenty of rock pools, the sea was very warm, despite the English weather we had to encounter, but it did not spoil are holiday.
I cannot add any more to what has already been written.
Definitely will be visiting again.

We have just returned home after a brief camping visit to the Lake District. This was our first time camping. We read the reviews of the Shepherds Views campsite and decided it was for us. Well, I am really glad we followed our instincts. The campsite was lovely, small and very friendly. The shower blocks were immaculate. We phoned Julie when we arrived and she came round and met us. We were all sorted within 5 minutes and pitched our tent. The ground was lovely and soft, we didn't need to use a mallet to put the pegs in.
We ended up eating at The Victoria Hotel on both nights, out of convenience, the food is really great!
We had a bit of a crisis on our second day and Julie was fantastic.
If you like walking, would recommend the walking route from Ravenglass to Eskdate, it takes you up the valley. We did this on Tuesday, it was fantastic. We drove to Ravenglass, did the walk and then got the steam train back.
All in all, it was a really positive first camping experience!

This was our first ever camping trip as a family, we sent three nights here, this being our first test to see if we liked the camping set (myself Sharon and 2 daughters grace 4yrs & Neve 2yrs)
We travelled from ST. Helens, Merseyside the trip taking around two hours. Finding the site was fine with a Sat Nav, even if you don't have one it's still easy to locate, no long dark twisty lanes some 3 or 4 miles down some narrow roads shrouded in trees, you simply turn straight off the main run through Drigg onto a short gravel drive with signs clearly directing you where to park up.
There is a small reception office which has lots of local information available re attractions and amenities. It's a recently restored farm building which houses for the main part the Shower/toilet block and at any given time of the day or night, the ablutions block is free of unpleasant smells and kept immaculately clean
It's a working farm but its not like the farmer has though 'wait I can make a few bob here, just stick a few caravans and tents in an old field and I'm quid's in'' nothing could be further from the truth, its almost as though the farm is built around the campers.
Steve was raised on the farm and now runs it with his lovely wife Julie who works hard but always has a smile a laugh. As well as running the farm together, both look after the two camping areas ensuring that your needs are met. They genuinely want you to enjoy your stay, they clearly take pride in their farm and camping business, the customer service is second to none.
I noticed how they were not intrusive, nor were they noticed by their absence, should you need anything, they we contactable day or night by phone. Both always had time to stop and chat no matter what was going on in the farm, they both walked around throughout the day chatting to everyone.
I've learned like others who stayed here that its the little things that are the big things when it comes to this camping game, such as easy access to clean cold drinking water, a place to clean you plates/pans and paraphernalia. But, one thing of particular homely comfort clean potties! and a lovely hot shower with decent pressure. I had a hot shower at 9pm! this was even after a number of people & family's had been through their own 'hygiene' check ups / refresh ( I'm lucky to get a warmish shower in my own home after 8pm! once my wife and 2 little ladies have had their turn!)
Something else I've also realised to be important, noise at night. There is a little, as you'd expect. That said, by 11pm its like ''lights out bedtime everyone'' its great. A goodnights sleep.
The farm is situated with ideal access to local amenities and clearly sign posted arterial routes to all sites of interest further afield. Its all there on your doorstep! my girls loved the freedom and large areas made accessible to the campers, there is even a large field set aside for ball games etc which gives a level of privacy and respect to those who don't have children, and just want to sit outside their tents without a ball or Frisbee bouncing off their heads or tent.
My own girls loved to go over to the cows each day. I liked the fact you could just nip into the reception office throughout the day and pick up some fresh eggs of the desk (£1 for box of six - run on an honesty box basis) one morning there was done left!. Cheekily we rang Julie to see if there was a chance of squeezing a couple of eggs out of some hen on the farm somewhere, she said no problem, apologised!. And went and fetched a fresh batch of eggs for us, what more can you ask for.
A bit about the fields, the one close to the shower/toilet block is normally used for Caravans & trailer tents. We stopped on this part, even though in a tent (6 birth) as they wanted to give the pitches in the other field behind (reserved for tents) time to recover, again signs of the fact this site is not run on mass to space basis, but rather smaller groups to larger areas, something which we noticed straight away when arriving.
The grass in both area's is healthy & thick (lovely under foot!) good firmness for pitching, The field behind for tents is on a gradual slop with no marsh/bogginess both fields have the option of electric hook up.
Steve & Julie encourage recycling by providing 2 x decent large size blue barrels marked up for what recycling go's in which barrel, along with 2 x standard sized metal (black bagged) none recyclable waste bins. The bin area is regularly emptied and cleaned, I was disappointed to see that a few people who'd left had just dumped rubbish in the area and in any of the bins leaving Steve to sort through, shameful.
There was heavy rain two of the nights but by morning (9am) the weather had cleared, I walked around both fields and noted that it had extremely good drainage, you wouldn't have known it had rain so heavily.
On the day it came to us leaving it was raining and windy, we rang Julie who said there was no rush for us to vacate our pitch and told us we could relax and just take our time, wait till the rain had passed (normal tent down and drive off from site is 11am) we left around 12:35hrs we rang Julie who was working on the farm area to say goodbye, she and Steve were going to stop what they were doing to come out and see us off, but we said there was no need.
I cannot praise Steve & Julie and the farm/site enough, as you've probably guessed. I have waited for a few days to let the 'happy holiday feelings' go so I had a clear view before I put this review on, and do you know what, I haven't changed my views and neither has Sharon or my girls. Thank you Steve & Julie for making us feel so welcome and for providing us with first class facilities and customer service throughout our stay. We will be coming back again, comfortable in the knowledge we are going to again be receiving best value for our money and precious holiday time.
One a last note about the camping community, we were on site for about 10 minutes with the tent out on the floor both my wife and I with blank expressions on our faces, when this lovely lady called 'Val' came over and asked us if we wanted a brew, which was greatly received, some 20 minutes later Val her husband, son & his fiancee came over to help (well I sort of helped a bit!) put 'our' tent up for us!. Lovely people. Walking round the site people were friendly and would chat with you, this sort of openness and friendliness we've only ever previously experienced in the motorbike community, so thank you for making us novice campers welcome, we'll pass the same along.

We have just returned from a brilliant 10 days on this site. We found the atmosphere very relaxing. The facilities were excellent, including the very clean underfloor heated toilet / shower block. Julie and Steve were excellent hosts, being there and caring without being intrusive. We enjoyed the surrounding area, including Britains favourite view at Wasdale, Ratty the Steam Train at Ravenglass, and Muncaster Castle. The site is situated to make anywhere in the Lakes accessible. The free parking on the beach at Seascale making a welcome change. We were so impressed, we have already booked for a return visit next summer and can't wait.

We stayed here on the strength of the reviews we read on this website. Stephen & Julie are lovely hosts, very natural. The campsite is great - shower & toilet block modern & spotlessly clean. Reasonably priced & with excellent access to the southern fells. In summary, you won't regret staying at this site.
