What a wonderful site. We were greeted by the owner and were given a guided tour of the site. Unfortunately, the previous few days the weather had provided the area with thunder storms and torrential rain which had left the pitches very soggy and we had difficulty accessing our pitch. When we finally parked the Motorhome we realised that the ground around the van was too muddy for us and our two dogs to access without getting the interior of the van very muddy. We were also concerned, with justification, about exiting from our pitch. We spoke to the owner, who was most apologetic, and we agreed that we would be better off parking the van in the car park. They had to tow us off our pitch with his dumper truck which he uses around the Garden Centre to which is adjacent. However we were quite happy with our re-location and despite this setback I have nothing but praise for the site.
The toilet and shower block is superb, with individual rooms comprising a walk in shower, toilet and wash hand basin. There was an enclosed small paddock for exercising our two dogs. The reception area incorporated a small shop where essential supplies (this includes bottles of beer from the micro brewery)could be purchased.
The town of Wisbech is within easy walking distance. The micro brewery has an area, complete with outdoor heaters, where you can sit and enjoy your drinks. (We can definitely recommend the beers).
To sum up, the owners have obviously worked extremely hard setting up this site and have succeeded in creating a lovely site, with each individual pitch being a private little haven where the local birds and wildlife can be observed. We Strongly recommend this site and hope to return soon. Many Thanks to them for their kindness and help. Lastly, I have to mention, Vernon, the friendliest Cat (a ginger tom) I have ever met. Good luck in the future to them all.

Just got back from a 5 night stay here, and our only real draw back was that we'd booked to be there in the coldest few days in March for twenty years! Snow, wind, rain and minus 6 degrees one night!
The site itself lived up to the comments made by everyone that had visited previously, we were offered any pitch and we picked pitch number 3, right next to the hanging bird feeders, where we saw the jay, the two different kinds of woodpecker, robin's, finches and blue tits even a squirrel came to pinch some peanuts, hanging upside down to do so!
Most pitches were provided with a lovely looking and extremely well made mild steel fire pit that you can use as a barbecue or a fire. All pitches are to have these eventually which I thought was a nice touch.
The micro-brewery is now up and running and I speak from experience when I say that the darker ale (wellstream) was the nicer one of the two ales brewed on site, the lighter one (adventurer, I think?) was a little cloudy and not to my taste. Both were £2. 50 per bottle from the shop. I liked the wellstream one so much I bought some to take home.
The owners were the perfect hosts, we were treated like family and we enjoyed their company and the little chats that we had.
Would we go again? Most definitely, in fact we can't wait to go back very soon but not until it warms up somewhat!

Really nice site with a friendly welcome, which is situated down a quiet country lane. I was given a tour of the facilities which were excellent/clean and included three family type shower rooms with loos, a toilet and wash room with sinks, washer and tumble dryer and hair dryer etc. Loads of hot water.
We had hook up with our own water supply(pitch 1). We didn't have time or cable to hook up the television to the bird box monitors but will try this in nesting season. The pigs lived close by in the woods but don't worry they are quiet and do not smell, in fact they were very inquisitive and great to watch.
It was a bit too muddy on the roads as they had just had very heavy rain but the tracks are going to be gravelled I was told.
Had guided tour of micro brewery under construction on the site and this will soon be finishes:) There are plans for a BBQ area and a tiled seating area just outside for those sunny evenings.
Wisbech is only a mile or so from the site but don't use the main road if walking or cycling as it is quite busy and there are few pavements. Instead use the road at the bottom of the lane and cycle/walk in safety by the side of the river. The Georgian town is nice but is a little run down in places but has a good selection of pubs, shops, supermarkets etc.
The Wheel Inn in Wisbech St Marys is a very short drive away and we tried the carvery. I am not normally a fan of carverys but it was nice and the place had a very friendly atmosphere. Its worth ringing if you want to go as it was very busy when we went but the landlord squeezed us in.
Overall a very nice site that I would highly recommend and one I shall return to very soon.

Wow, this is a lovely site, close to town and with fantastic pitches on a great layout which allows for maximum privacy.
Loved the immaculate toilet and shower facilities and the indoor spacious lounge was a lovely surprise. Good washing facilities and I think the washing machine and drier were very good value compared to some other sites. Seem to remember there is also a fridge and freezer for people in tents (please check). Also a book exchange and table tennis in the lounge area.
We stayed for two very wet nights but with an awning extended on the motorhome we were cosy and could feed and toilet the dog outside! The enclosed dog run on site was fabulous and perfect for our beagle puppy who can not be off the lead. Lovely seeing the chickens roaming and pigs in their sty - hope their webcam can be replaced and that they do not eat the new one!
Owners were very friendly and on arrival we were offered the use of a TV arial cable if required - what a nice change from the sites who try to sell you a cable. Bird watching using the analogue channels is a must when visiting this site and all I can say is we look forward to returning and hope the microbrewery will be open. Good Luck.

What a fantastic little site.
The electric pitches were separated by shrubs and trees - each pitch with it's own hook-up, water tap and aerial socket. If you tuned your TV with analogue, as well as digital, you got access to the CCTV cameras, to enable you to monitor the wildlife. I was on pitch 3, which also had the bird feeding station.
All toilets were unisex, but of a very high standard. There was a disabled toilet/shower room and 2 non-disabled toilet/shower rooms, plus one more toilet without a shower. I did wonder if so few toilets might be a problem, but it never seemed to be.
There are plans for additional facilities soon, including a brewery.
I shall certainly return to this site, especially as it's such great value for money.

What can I say that hasn't been said before? Nothing, is the answer. This site is brilliant in all regards.
The owners are friendly and welcoming yet not intrusive. The wildlife is amazing. We had a young weasel turn up to clean out a yoghurt pot in broad daylight. Made our trip that did.
There are Gloucester Old Spot pigs and chickens on site for both adults and kids to enjoy watching.
I would give it 20 out of ten for everything, if I could.

I cannot sing the praises of the Secret Garden highly enough. Everything about this campsite has been carefully thought out to make their guest’s stay amazing.
The site only has 15 pitches, 5 of which are serviced with EHU, water and TV. The pitches are spaced out amongst the garden, the camping meadow and 5 are small tent pitches. Each pitch has a lovely degree of seclusion without feeling cut off.
We had pitch 3 in the garden, surrounded by shrubbery and flowers which attracted numerous butterflies. The pitch was very spacious, with plenty of space for our 8 berth tent with porch and car. We were able to secure our dog far enough away from the tent to stop her getting tangled in the guy lines but with a long enough line that she had plenty of movement and still not be in anyone else’s way. We were a perfect distance from the shower block, not too close, not too far.
The shower block was amazing. 3 brand new wet room shower/toilet/sink rooms and one additional toilet. One room is suitable for disabled. They each were very spacious, with plenty of hooks to hang your clothes out of the way, water was hot and unlimited and they did not charge for them. They were cleaned daily. In the same block is an indoor washing up sink, washing machine (50p) and tumble dryer (50p) and also a ping pong table, sofas and TV showing the nature cams from around the site and freeview.
They have pigs near the entrance and put buckets of vegetables out so you can feed them if you want and chickens in the paddock, some of whom wander free around the site. There is a fully enclosed paddock for dog exercising/ball games etc which our Beagle has tested and can confirm there are no escape routes from! Free wifi (stronger in parts than others) and a fridge and freezer for campers use.
We were lucky and had fantastic weather during our stay and so were able to spend lots of time at the site just chilling in the sun, which was lucky as the local towns are rather run down and neglected. We ended up having our best day out in Heacham, about an hours drive away on the Norfolk coast, near Sandringham, but having visited both Wisbech and Kings Lynn decided not to venture into either again except to visit the supermarkets in Wisbech. The campsite more than made up for the localities shortcomings.
I really cannot find fault with the campsite, it’s owners are lovely and considerate and really want to see all their campers having a great time and in beautiful surroundings. And all for only £10 a night!

Gem of a site, very peaceful and certainly very relaxing. Came on a sunday and my satnav decided to take me the wrong way, so I rang for directions and bless her Lesley the owner came out of the drive and road to help bring me in.
The toilets are well maintained, cleaned very regular and large, there are hand dryers in each cubicle, a loo and shower, outside in the communal area is a hair dryer and mop to clean after yourself. There is a small room with a sink, washing machine, stove for the braver folk camping. There is a larger section also in the building housing a ping pong table, and a recent addition of a massive fridge freezer for the use of the campers. Also a TV showing the sleeping area's of the pig sty and would imagine the nest boxes but these we're empty, wrong time of year.
Steve and Lesley we're fantastic, taking our boys to collect eggs every other day, feeding the pigs and they even took my Mom around the nursery collecting cuttings for her to regrow.
My Husband and friends with their caravan joined us a few days later. There electric cable wasn't quite long enough so Steve had a joined bit for us to borrow, and me being forgetful they also lent us a lamp so I could read in the awning on a night.
The owners gave our boys a bug catching kit, I did not see the boys at all that day, oh except to help identify the species with help from the kit book.
I read a review on the entrance of the Secret Garden, I personally had no problem, and if you didn't cut out your driving licence from a card board box, you will find this easy to do as well. All in all a fantastic time was had by all, the weather was quite rubbish at the very beginning of the week but brightened up a lot and the added bonus of olympic fever and Tom Daley wining bronze made it even better, just a shame we had to go home.
At a tenner a night per unit no matter how many people, just goes to show that these brilliant little sites do still appear. Would we return, you bet I would.

Just returned from a two night family break at the wonderful Secret Garden.
This is a small site with 10 pitches and is without question stunning in its setting, facilities, atmosphere and value.
We were greeted by the very amenable owners who took time to chat with the children and give them a tour of the site which is effectively a huge nature garden.
The planting within the site is set to attract wildlife and is stunning in its look.
On site there are a few hens which the children were allowed to visit to collect eggs, and a group of handsome Gloucester Old Spot pigs, who were a delight to see. The children were allowed to feed the pigs under supervision, which was a highlight. We were very generously given eggs and sausages and the owners would not take a penny for them. Just really lovely people.
Each pitch has EHU, its own water station and TV aerial.
There is a facilities building with immaculate toilets, a small laundry (50p for the washing machine we have paid 4pounds last time round)and absolutely stunning wetroom shower facilities. Fair to say we have never seen such fantastic washrooms as these, stunning wetwall panelled interiors, top of the range showers, and enough room for a parent and two children to share. Superb, clean and very welcoming.
There is a field where kids can play ball games and a lovely area to walk the dog.
The owners have been developing the site for 18 months with plans to continue to progress the site with a microbrewery and possible a butchers facility.
I would enthusiastically recommend this site as outstanding in all ways, I cannot thank the owners enough for their efforts and look forward to visiting again when there is an opportunity.
