Lovely site, not too big so doesn't get too busy! The only possible downside is very few pitches where not on slight slope but good enough we've stayed there twice now in last couple of months.
Good, clean facilities, nice being able to hire fire pits as a lot of camps don't allow and morning coffee and croissant shop a nice touch!
Great location, within spitting distance of Bolton Abbey which is a fantastic open space for kids to run around, paddle in river, take a walk through Strid Wood, picnic etc. Managed to spend two whole days there without kids getting bored!
No electrical hook-ups so great if you enjoy a few days off-grid (though plenty of sockets in shower blocks for charging phones etc. ).

This was my 1st attempt at camping and found the location to be excellent as a base for accessing local walks. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Facilities were good with clean showers and toilets however, a few more toilets wouldn't go amiss, when the site filled up, a free toilet was hard to find in the morning. The family running the site are lovely friendly people. Theres a wee shop on site with a few of the normal things you forget to take and a coffee hut that opens for breakfast selling hot pastries. A few down sides, you can't park by your pitch so you have to put everything in your tent or keep walking to the car park. The carpark is a semi rough field which after a little rain was problematic for a guy in his car that I helped push out. The car park isnt set out either so when it was full, due to a lot of people not having common sense, manoeuvring around it became problematic. Due to cars not being used to separate pitches a number of group visitors pulled tents up close and were generally a source for noise. I had to listed to other peoples music and the odd idiot paying no attention to the no noise curfew. However, the owners cant be to blame for ignorant visitors. All in all a good visit, I just happened to be unlucky with who pitched next to me! For those wanting a pint and supper in walking distance, the only place was the Devonshire Hotel about a 15min walk but its pricey and a bit clinical. There's not a local shop within walking distance either, probably a 15/20 minute drive. Access road is single lane for around a mile so keep your wits about you as it has lots of blind bends, few passing places and can get busy. For those who like to ignore your kids when on holiday and leave them on the play area, you're out of luck as there didn't appear to be one. Suited me fine as I holiday to be with my child and there's some excellent walks. Strongly recommend Malham Cove!

Had a fabulous week here in spite of changeable weather. Very quiet during week days and very busy at the weekend.
Throughout the site owners are very attentive to their guests ensuring that the plentiful toilet and washing facilities are clean and the atmosphere friendly.
The kitchen area provides several sinks and fridges and throughout our stay we never had to queue for anything. Camp fires are encouraged in the hired baskets. There are amazing views across to Simons Seat. Lovely walks from the site.

I camped here with my son, age 8, on Friday and Saturday 8/9 of June.
The site is accessible by public transport which is a big plus for me. It's about a 15 minute walk from where the dales bus drops people off by the village shop. You do have to time it right though as the bus coverage is poor, often only 2 or 3 a day, and there are no buses at all on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The campsite has nice views over the dales and is in easy walking distance (under a mile) of Hesketh farm park, Bolton and Embsay Steam railway, the ruins of Bolton Priory and riverside walks along the river Wharfe, including the Dales Way.
The campsite itself was very clean and well run. Despite it being right at the end of a busy half term week the showers and toilets were all clean and well maintained, even including a working hair dryer in the shower block.
There are communal fridges and freezers, with stickers provided so you can label what's yours. These are located in the washing up room, which also has a kettle and microwave.
There is a small shop in the reception area. You can buy disposable BBQs there to cook on if you haven't brought your own, you can also hire a fire pit. The fire pit comes with wood and kindling to light it.
It is possible to cook on the fire pit, but you will need to put metal grill/mesh on the top to use it for cooking as the shape of it (drum shaped with a narrow top) doesn't make it easy to place anything directly onto the fire.
This however is a plus with kids as it makes it difficult for them to get their hands in it by mistake.
The wood that came with the pit was dry, burnt well and didn't give off too much smoke. It all lit first time using a couple of fire lighters and was hot enough to cook on in about half an hour.
There is a coffee shop that opens from 7. 30am to 9. 30am for breakfast each morning. They do hot drinks, fruit juice in cartons, as well as warm pan au chocolat and croissants. Prices are good. A tea, a juice and 2 croissants were under £5.
I would definitely recommend this site, especially for people camping with kids.

Visited here with a group of friends.
First thing to point out is that it's not flat. At all. Even the flattest bits of it (and there's only a couple) are barely level. So unless you check-in at the crack of dawn on a quiet weekend you'll be pitched on a hill.
There's only 4 toilets and 4 showers for each sex for the whole campsite. For the first time ever camping I had to queue for a toilet!
There's also no water points in the field so it's a decent uphill hike to fill any pans.
On the upside the facilities were clean, there's a couple of fridge freezers free to us and a microwave and kettle.
The kids loved the stream that ran through the site and lots of them seemed to play there.
Good location, short walk to Bolton Abbey which was great.
Local shop is a gift shop and camp site sells bare minimum so you'll need to travel for supplies.
Overall I'd say it was very expensive to camp (£70 for a family of four for two nights) and it's really only got the location to recommend it.

First time camping with my friend and also at catgill. We went 23/09/17 to 25/09/17 and it was perfect. Thought with it not been school holidays it would be perfect time to go and it was! Not too busy at all it was great. And sunday night there was only 3 other tents in are field as most people only came till sunday. They had two fields to choose from we went for smaller one behind the farm buildings and the best thing was you could just drive in and pick a place you want and set up, no hassle, no order and no camping right next to others it was great. We choose the corner at the top, great views and not too far from toilet block. Got a fab warm and funny welcoming from ken on arrival, absolute heart of gold owner who made us laugh with his humour everytime we bumped into him, amazing gentleman made us feel welcome from word go.
They had an area to wash up, which also had a kettle/microwave and a fridge freezer you can use at any time. The toilet block was very spacious and clean and they had plug sockets in that came in handy to charge are phones and my friend could use her straighteners.
I would definitely visit again as its great value for money and a great location and the family who own it are so lovely and welcoming. Thank you again for a perfect weekend, and hopefully see you again next year

We arrived at 1. 30pm on Friday of August Bank Holiday weekend and grabbed one of the last level pieces of ground. The site continued to fill up with campers and around half of the tents and campervans had to pitch on sloping ground or squeeze in ever more closely to other camping units. The Cool Camping listed states this site has 30 pitches, but I can assure you there were at least double the number of parties this weekend.
We perched ourselves on top of a hill with space for another unit either side of us. Our two neighbours arrived before sundown and it felt cosy but not uncomfortable.
The campsite has stunning views and great facilities and on a less busy weekend could probably be recommended. On August bank holiday though, it was overfull. Just four showers in the men's block was woefully inadequate for that many campers and we opted to get up at 7am rather than queue for ages later.
On our two full days we cycled to Skipton on Saturday, and walked around the grounds of Bolton Abbey on Sunday.
While we were out on Saturday a large family with two tents, a car and a white van, moved from wherever they had pitched the previous night and wedged themselves in in the small space between us and the next tent. They were literally a foot away from us and the other tent. The saving grace for us was that their tent doors were facing away from us. For the young couple in the tent the other side it was far worse as they had a large, noisy family with kids, who were awake at 7am, sitting a metre from where they were sleeping.
This party weren't the only inconsiderate campers either as music was blasting out from three other pitches over the course of the weekend, and the site was rammed with kids being allowed to run and cycle all over the place, or throw toy cars at each other up and down the hill.
I've never experienced a campsite like it and I don't know whether it was the busyness of the Bank Holiday weekend or whether all northern campers think this is how to behave on a campsite.
We managed to enjoy our weekend regardless, taking ourselves off on our bikes or on foot to explore the countryside. We discovered lovely pubs in Skipton, the Cock and Bottle which has a beautiful courtyard, and in Addingham - the Crown where a pint was just £3. 30. We weren't so impressed with the nearest pub to the campsite, The Devonshire where it was £4 a pint and mine tasted like vinegar.
A final piece of advice if you're still brave enough to stay at Catgill Campsite is not to rely on the nearest shop calling itself Bolton Abbey Village Shop. I'd expect a village shop to sell basic stuff like bread and milk, but you'll be out of luck unless your shopping list comprises cuddly toy emus and overpriced lemon curd. This is a gift shop and not a village shop. You'll need to visit the Co-op in Addingham or large branches of Tesco and Morrisons in Skipton for your grocery requirements.

Stayed at Catgill in June with my family and we all had a great time. I don't usually write reviews but felt the need to tell people how good this place is. From the minute you arrive you get the feeling that the place is really chilled out. The reception is in the farm house and the old man who checked us in is a real character who could not help us enough.
Pitches are not set out and you can go wherever you like which we loved as so many sites tell you where you have to pitch these days. There is loads of room for kids to play and although there isnt a playground we hardly saw them all weekend as they were having fun playing in the stream and woodland. The site felt really safe and the views were amazing. The campsite is 10 minutes walk from Bolton Abbey and there is so much to do in the area. We didn't have time to do it all and will definitely be returning.
The toilet and shower block was spotless and really well fit out. The kitchen area has washup sinks, fridge freezers, microwave and kettle which are all free to use. There is a new coffee shop selling fresh coffee and warm croissants in the mornings which is great if you cant be bothered to make your own!
Thanks to the owners for sharing this beautiful campsite with us and see you again soon.

Having had such a great time here before we decided to return. The site was very busy as it was Easter but the facilities were kept to a high standard throughout our stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting the farm park next door and nearby Billy Bob's ice cream parlour. We will definitely stay here again to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Highly recommended.

This really is a good site went middle of august it's got a good view every where you look is nice the run of the place is probably actually to relaxed we have young children and it was great to see them play make there own outdoor fun it was fab the facilities was clean and microwave on hand which was handy with the young ones and a fridge which was good to although people didn't use a lot of common sense when placing things buy just putting a actual coolbag in there rather than empty it. It's advertised as walking distance to Bolton abbey which yes it is however we didn't want to walk our kids down the single track road a little dangerous we thought more people not driving to sensible speeds. But we in general loved explored a lot of the dale's had great fun. Nice site and will definitely go again recommend to camping friends already.
