We had a lovely stay here, the site was well cared for and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The hardstanding plots were a decent size and the toilet block and laundry room were very clean and worked well. Set right on the bank of the canal, it was a very pleasant walk along the well used towpath into Bath and just 2. 2 miles drive to the Bath Theatre Royal in the centre of Bath, where there was ample car parking easily found. We'd love to return to this site.

We stay at Bath Marina regularly as I have to visit a hospital in Bath every month or so, so this is really just a general review rather than time specific.

It's an excellent site for visiting Bath city. There are regular bus services as well as a P&R bus service nearby. During the university term the regular buses run late at night if you want a night out in the city, or a taxi costs under a tenner. There are a couple of pubs within walking distance. If you like cycling or walking the Bath - Bristol cycle path runs past the site though access is a short ride/walk away. There is a children's playground and dog walking field next to the site.

The site is well maintained, facilities good but not luxurious. There is a shop in reception that sells essentials and ice cream. It also has local information, a book exchange and wifi access. You can hire bikes on site.

It's caravan or motorhome/campervan only as they can't take tents. Most pitches are hard standing (concrete) with a grass area to the side. Most pitches are 'open' in that they have no dividing hedges etc between them. However they have recently opened some smaller budget and woodland pitches that are a bit different to these. There are mature trees throughout and these can make some pitches a bit shady at times. When booking there is a choice of pitches so pick the one that suits best.

There have been some negative comments about cost on the forums. It costs about £25 a night for two people, depending on what sort of pitch you have which we think is ok for somewhere like Bath. Pricing is per person and there are no extra charges for dogs etc. They offer a discount for over 60s. You can check the cost on the website by doing a booking (make sure you press 'update price' to get the full cost) then decide if you want to go ahead, or ring and ask.

My wife and I with 3 little doggies visited this site for a week in may this year. What a brilliant location.

Two hundred yards from the park and ride and the buses run into Bath every 10 to 15 minutes seven days a week. Whilst we were in a caravan it is a motor homers dream.

Facilities are a bit dated but very clean and the staff are extremely helpful. Good park alongside for great dog walks and a pub, The Boathouse along the tow path about 400 yards. Walk the other way and you are in Bath in 50 minutes. Television signal can be hit and miss depending what type of aerial you have but there is tv aerial point on your electric hook up post so a cable about 20 meters will suffice or you can buy one in the shop at reception for a tenner.

Well recommended by us.

We stayed a few nights on the site as we wanted to visit Bath, and this site is in a very good location. The park and ride is a five minute walk, or the river walk takes about 50 minutes.

As we entered the site, the road was badly in need of resurfacing. There are an awful lot of trees, which blocked out the sun on the pitch we had. The grounds were not very well kept, lots and lots of weeds everywhere. And the grass round our pitch was pitted with holes, not visible, but dangerous to walk on.

There are 64 pitches here, and 2 shower/toilet blocks. The ladies block I used had only 2 showers, and the first morning people were waiting to use the shower. The facilities were clean, but we felt inadequate for the number of people on the site.

There were also a few very old dirty caravans on site, which looked like they had been there for many years.

At a cost of £26. 50 per night, we felt we had been ripped off. A very overpriced site, the only recommendation being its location.

Approach easy access, direction on the website are fine, sat nav took us the right route as well.

Check in - everything explained well, the shop is open until 5pm - after that they leave your pitch number in an envelope.

Pitch - we booked a large pitch with awning, to be honest it was a bit tight, and the main criticism would be we booked a hard standing pitch and the caravan was on hard standing - a concrete slab, so the awning would be on grass, our awning pitch was not only fairly muddy but sloping, so we didn't bother putting it up in the end. We had electric hookup and a TV hook up, but the signal was a little intermittent.

Facilities - the showers were warm, clean, plenty of hot water, but they are tired and need updating. This site is not tranquil, it's on the main A4 two miles from a city so you wouldn't expect it to be, there is no lack of trains, planes and automobiles !

Local area - we went for the Bath Christmas markets and this site is ideal for that, Bath is a 2 mile walk along a tow path or you can get the park and ride just a short walk from the site. The boat pub serves good food again a short walk from the site. There is a general store 10 minutes from the site as well.

In summary - this is a large site just outside of bath, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The site is let down by the lack of investment from british waterways, it really needs updating and tidying up. The main issue I have is this site is not worth £26. 00 a night, compared to other sites charging that much this site certainly needs improving. I think most people stay at this site one or two nights, just to visit bath, we have never seen so many motor homes on one site, the site felt more geared towards motorhomes and one night stops, which is a shame.

We have just spent 3 days here and would not hesitate in recommending this site. The reception was very efficient, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The hard-standings are great especially as we had a couple of days of heavy rain. The shower blocks were warm and the showers had plenty of hot water for everyone. The canal walk was muddy but we were prepared and enjoyed the walk into Bath. The Boathouse Inn was friendly and really good food at a very reasonable price and just a short walk along the canal path. We recommend the roast dinner! The Dolphin pub is quite a way further and was not as welcoming as the Boathouse. (No food after 4. 00pm on Sundays) We will visit this site again and do not hesitate to recommend it.

The site is in an excellent location just 2 miles from Bath, you can walk via road or canal tow path, or there is good bus service nearby. The shower and toilet facilities are utilitarian but in good order and always clean. The site itself needs some TLC as the tree branches are so low in places they catch the top of the caravan which would not be a problem if you could choose your own pitch, we had to break the end of the branches off, as others had obviously done. The trees also are so overgrown that they make the site feel dark and cluttered. The site has a rule of dogs on leads at all times but this does not seem to apply to staff who live on site with large dogs. The clean and waste water points need updating and the chemical toilet emptying point had the sides of the building splashed with disintegrated toilet paper so had obviously not been properly cleaned for some time. The site has the potential to be fabulous if properly managed and maintained, and might then be worth the high site fees. Customer service was variable.

Site in good location close to park and ride. Concrete hard standings. Bins overflowing. Showers cold. Washing up area at top of site not working. Drinking water and Grey water point at top of site not working. Toilet blocks poor standard and in dire need of updating. A poor advert for British Waterways.

We have just returned from three nights on this site. The location is really good; the park and ride is just a few minutes walk on the tow path and there are bikes for hire on site. The hardstanding pitches will be excellent all year round, and the facilities are dated but clean and not to far away from any of the pitches. We hired a car for 2 days as there's a car hire place along the road. So much to see and do in this area; we treated ourselves to an afternoon in the Bath Thermae Spa which was fantastic. Wells Cathedral was lovely and we also visited the ss Great Britain in Bristol. We will return.

 So,

I arrived on the Friday, very friendly staff, the pitch I was allocated was for a small caravan, despite having reserved a large pitch for my twin axle van. It made it difficult to site the van and even worse to get off the site on the Monday!

The site is near to a main road, which means there is a fair amount of road noise early in the morning and the facilities - were at best 'tired' - nowhere near Caravan Club standards.

The site IS only 2 miles from Bath, which makes it ideal for exploring, but would I say here again? - sadly no, at least not until toilet / shower blocks were refurbished.
