August 2003 Every other campsite was full up at the time we went, so we decided to give this site a try. Luckily we know the area well, so finding it wasn't very difficult, yet I can see it being a problem for others. The site itself was extremely basic and there are plenty of cows to contend with on the driveway up to the farm. The lady who I'm assuming is the owner was less than pleasant, she quickly pointed out the very limited facilities and vanished.
The field was ok, yet the nearest pub and shop was miles away down Winnits Pass. The countryside was lovely, lots of places to walk to and hills to climb. I must admit, we enjoyed ourselves, yet I don't think we will be returning very soon.

August 2003 A remote and basic site, (which is quite difficult to find), surrounded by lovely countryside.
A large field with a slight slope in places and moderately rough grass. There are plenty of decent enough places to pitch a tent or park a caravan though. No power points.
The few facilities are near the farmhouse, close to the field. There is only one shower for men and one for women and hot water is 50p (or a free cold shower!) On the plus side they are quite new and have a very large changing area.
The toilets are a bit dingy with only one cubicle and one sink in the gents, although these were kept clean enough.
If you are looking for luxury and a quick walk to the pub then this not for you. The nearest pub or shop is in Castleton a couple of miles away down the steep and beautiful Winnats Pass leading into the Hope Valley.
We only went here because everywhere in the Hope Valley was full and we didn’t have the foresight to book ahead of time. However we enjoyed our 2 days and the site was quite busy with people who don’t mind roughing it a bit.
We were charged £8 a night and I think this is a one-size fits all price.
