We stayed here for two weeks, The site itself is ok but I would not say a 4 star site, the toilet block really did need some general maintenance just small things which would make a big difference like toilet lids on the toilet seats I dont think I saw one toilet with a full toilet seat, the loo roll that is when there is loo roll is the horriblist toilet paper that I have ever come across. I felt the site was not that busy but the toilets did not seem to get a good clean only a floor sweep and wash. The rubbish area was always overspilling. I found the tent pitches to be very very soggy after one night of rain. The on-site mill cafe was fab and well looked after. I did find the site to be very well situated for all the nice attractions that this area has to offer although there was no foot / cycle path that goes directly from this site you have to drive off site to find a path. The people that worked on the site are very friendly .All it would take is a little bit of investment to bring this site up to scratch to make a second visit worth it.

This site is ok but im afraid I feel it gets 4 stars simply as its by the river and has a garden centre on site. The toilets and showers were ok but still not great. The owner however is very nice. The main problem for me is although you are next to the river you can't see it unless you stand right next to it, and there are no nice views from the site. The benefit is its not far from llanberis and the foot of snowdon which is beautiful. In a car might I add. Only very small also and I found it hard to walk my dogs without feeling intrusive to other campers. I want to point out that this campsite is fine but I would say very basic and the 4 star rating seems very generous. Also cost £22.50 for one night 2 adults 2 dogs motorhome with electric. Which I think is expensive.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of July. We were really impressed by this campsite and it's locations and surroundings. My 7 year old had a great time in the childrens play area which is situated in the centre of the park. The river also went down a treat with him and our 2 dogs. When we arrived, we were greeted by 2 very pleasant caretakers and were given a choice of pitches, all of which were flat and dry. We were fortunate enough to have missed all the rain - in fact, it only rained once overnight during our stay. Facilities were OK and kept relatively clean. I agree with the comment about the dead spiders! Would definitely go back to this area as there is so much to see and do. There is also a good chance we would return to this park again.

Stayed here for 2 weeks from the 23rd of June and we were also by the river on pitch No 10 with a caravan and awning , The river rose very fast that day and we came back to the site the awning had flooded I have to say it did shock us but the help that we got was very good, the site owners son filled his pick up with our gear and helped us to move to higher ground they really could do know more and I would like to thank him and the warden for there efforts that day. We stayed the 2 weeks in awful weather but we enjoyed it , the site is very clean and very friendly and the warden a very help full person only wish all wardens were this good . We will go back one day when it stops raining ( if it ever does ) Once again thanks for all the help on that awful day .

Stayed here from Friday 22nd - Tues 26th June. My family (2 adults and 3 children) were very impressed with Riverside when we had day visited their previously. The caretakers of the site are really lovely and approachable. We had an electric pitch and the Guy showed us to our pitch. The facilities are good and generally clean although we did feel that all the dead spiders and flies in the shower / toilet block could have easily been removed from the roof area. It would just have made it look so much cleaner. Our children all loved the small outdoor play area and the river went down well with our twelve year old. Take wet shoes and a wet suit though it was pretty cold and very rocky underfoot. The weather wasn't too kind to us on the Saturday and we went to a church in Caernarfon that has been converted into a great indoor play area for kids - drop slides, ball pools etc etc. (Suitable for babies up to adults). It's next door to the Morrisons supermarket. It was a bit expensive to get in and be warned they don't take cards but no gripes otherwise the kids loved it. The only downside to the long weekend (and the thing that may mean we cancel our weekend here in July ) was the weather on the Sunday night and all day Monday. We had a severe weather warning for North Wales and boy did the weather men get it right. Fourteen hours of solid rain. What we didn't expect though was the river rose approx 5 ft in four hours and BURST it's banks ! Instead of staying until the Tuesday as planned we had to panic pack instead as the water was only two foot away from the back of our tent and still rising. The heron was actually on the field fishing instead of in the river. After we finished packing we helped a couple who literally had the river running through one door of their tent and out the front door back into the river. Where was the owner / caretaker I here you say. NO-WHERE TO BE SEEN. When I phoned him from home on the Tuesday he said it wasn't raining when he was on site on the Monday morning. All I can say is he must have taken a wrong turn on the way their. So will we go back on the 20th July - only if we've had some really dry weather and no torrential rain is forecasted!

This site is excellent. The showers and Toilets are very clean and free. The shop facilities are limited, but there is a Spar shop about 1 mile away. If you like Indian food there is the best Restaurant in Wales, within walking distance (according to a recent Wales poll which cannot be faulted). Do not park too near the river. Mosquito's are around!.

We have just returned from a week's stay at Riverside, and would thoroughly recommend it, especially to families as its great for children. We were shown round by the owner, and asked where we would like to pitch our tent which was nice. The facilities are good, showers free and fairly clean, the toddler bath was a godsend for us as our 3 year old doesn't like showers! The freezer for ice packs was very handy as its available all the time. The playground was nice and our two spent alot of time there with plenty of other kids. The garden centre was lovely and quite reasonably priced, and the millhouse cafe serves excellent breakfasts! Not cheap but good quality food, and we had afternoon tea there aswell, which was very nice. The river is lovely, we saw herons nearly every day, and loads of fish jumping out of the water! Definitely take water shoes, and I wouldn't personally bother with a dinghy as its too rocky and not really deep enough apart from the pool at the end. But its great for paddling in and skimming stones. Caernarfon Castle is great for a visit, our two loved it, and the beach about 10 minutes down the road is nice, but very pebbly. We were very disappointed with Piggery Pottery though, it was a real let down, they just plonked my 3 year old down with a pebble and a load of paint and offered no suggestions or help. And that cost us £5.50! The girl was new and couldn't work the kiln or the till! We were not impressed. We loved the site, its very pretty, and even with the river, very safe for children. Would definitely return.

Fantastic site, just come back from 4 wonderful days. Site is sheltered and quiet. My kids 7 and 4 had a great time in the play area and in the river that runs around the site. Site was very quiet at this time and there was a great camaraderie, all kids and some parents playing rounders or cricket. Facilities are spotless never had any reason to complain about them. The new toilet block under the Mill cafe are really good. The Mill Cafe serves fantastic breakfasts and seemed to be very popular, locally every local we spoke to knew where we where and said how good the cafe and garden centre was. Will definitely be back.

We went to this site for five nights starting Bank Holiday Monday. We went with friends, a total of four adults, four children and a dog in two trailer tents. The weather was very kind to us, only had a few showers, but didn't spoil the holiday as plenty to do in area that is not weather dependant. The site is well laid out with plenty of space between the hook-ups. All pitches are flat and as described. The photos don't do it justice as it looks a lot better in the flesh. Kids went paddling in the river and had a great time, even the dog joined in. The Garden Centre and Cafe are an added bonus, although the Cafe a little pricey but nice as a treat. My only concern is that at peak times the utility blocks can become a little untidy, a mop in the showers would benefit. The staff we met were very friendly up for a laugh and give you lots of advice. All in all we had a very good time and would have no problem recommending this site. Carnaerfon and Llanberis both within easy driving distance are well worth a visit.

We booked 5 nights here and when we arrived the weather was hot and sunny. Once we were set up we took a little wander to see what the site was like. The site was busy and the toilet facilities we OK not much in the way of loo paper! However they were cleanish! The garden centre attached was really well stocked and the Mill cafe on site was really nice and had a really good menu. About a 10 minute walk away was the Welsh curry house of the year 2007. We had to pay it a visit! The food there was amazing however booking is highly recommended as it was full on a Thursday night! There is a river that runs around the edge of the site and is really good for a paddle but water shoes are a must as the bottom is full of pebbles and rocks. The on site playground looked really fun for the kids! The site is really close to 2 major supermarkets about a 10 minute drive away stocking everything! Towards the weekend more and more campers arrived and the pitch next to ours had been taken when we looked they had allowed 4 tents on 1 1/2 pitches. The noise was really too much they were up very late laughing and screaming and then again up at 5.45am shouting between the tents. It was obvious the owners were really greedy and tried to cram as many people on as they could. We decided that we had enough and wanted to go home we went to complain and we were informed that we should of knocked at the main house and they owners would of sorted it. The apologised so much and offered a refund for the night we had paid for which were never stayed. Overall we found this site really good and would probably visit again.
